They SURVIVED because they were slaves bought by Americans. They would have died if kept a slave in Africa and in many other nations. They THRIVED because American's freed them and offered for them to stay in America. Period. Slavery as a practice is not anything desirable, however it was a reality all over the earth, starting with white people and Asians enslaving their own race. Sometimes good and even great comes from something unfortunate like slavery.

I do hate that argument that people are better off because of slavery - freedom is always preferable. This doesn't mean that Leftists don't lie about history. They do it all the time. They also lie about what DeSantis is doing. Saying that Blacks learned skills during the slavery era is not making the argument that they were better off. It is not the same thing.

@@christopheroswald3419 I’ve actually taken the step of reading the curriculum on the department website. Aside from the positioning slaves as having benefited from slavery, it also downplays the entire thing by making comparisons to indentured servants and comparisons to other forms of “slavery” inflicted on non-blacks. Came into this impartial and still left with the same impression many others have. Pretty obviously politicized move.

That's not necessarily true, it's actually seeped in it considering it is remembered, retold and written by humans...whom by nature are emotionally driven and certainly coloured by bias and prejudice on both sides. It has been done both ways, it's just being written to be told as a victim narrative without any accountability for their own atrocities and involvement in the slave trade as according to Ghanaian historian Akosua Perbi, indigenous slavery in locations like Ghana had been established by the 1st century AD, with origins sometime in the ancient period. But that seems to be out of the conversation as it doesn't help their attempt to colour the world to represent themselves and their benefit (the same thing they claimed to be trying to correct).

Americans didn't go over to some innocent country, conquer, colonize and take slaves. Marxists have been teaching that impression to divide America. The Elites only have power as long as there is racial-fighting. The slaves brought over to the US were already slaves in Africa, savagely conquered and owned by their fellow Africans. The US was one of the later countries to take any part in the long-going slave trade, AFTER much of America had already been built. IF THEY HAD STAYED IN AFRICA AS SLAVES, there would be FEW IF ANY descendants alive today because the conditions in Africa have always been much more brutal. They would not have GREATLY BENEFITTED from the relative kindness and wealth of the US slave owners, would not have gained the trade skills, had their own families and eventually FREED BY AMERICANS, many of whom DIED TO FREE THEM, and offered them CITIZENSHIP WITH ALL OF THE WORLD'S BEST BENEFITS of being AMERICANS! How many white republicans will look down on Black and Latino people as not "True Americans" but yet their family has only been here since the 1900's? They have some nerve. However the bigger point is it doesnt matter how long your family has been here, as soon as you come here and set up a life you are a American. He needs to be told that the very people he is looking down on (black Americans), also look like his early ancestors. Of course slavery is horrific, it always will be horrific. The curriculum states despite their horrific circumstances them overcame impossible odds and continued to fight to be free. Maybe we shouldn’t teach certain subjects in school because someone will always get offended. It was taught when I went to school nor was much said about the holocaust or Vietnam war. I had to seek out real history on my own. Certain subjects r too divisive especially in this climate. I love historical facts and want to understand all sides not just what I agree with in any conversation as someone who is very passionate about learning, thanks to mom. But always remember tv is for entertainment purposes only, talking head’s always have ulterior motives. Do ur own due diligence when it come to anything u hear especially in this environment😊

Let’s try this again…If anyone is truly interested in this topic please look up Professor Allen both on NPR and ABC News interview. I think they should bring this perspective to the table (but it doesn’t fit their viewerships narrative). The issue I have with this topic is we are focused on how politically DeSantis handled the situation of responding to both the news media and VP Kamala Harris. The REAL issue is NO ONE speaks about the actual creators of this academic curriculum on the topic. It was created by a majority black workgroup whom are all scholars and professors in different universities throughout the US. Both NPR and ABC local news did an interview about the controversy of the language VP Harris exploited. The workgroup defended and explained the meaning of that portion to which both reports agreed with the findings. Does anyone actual care about the topic or the VP’s lies and The View panels lack of knowledge on this topic? I find this is far more dangerous of a message just to discount the governor of Florida. Having five influential TV figureheads discuss this topic without base knowledge of the facts. Yet we “honor” Pee-Wee Herman on the same show. Give me a break.

Gave us the 40 acres, never gave us the mule. Then they took back the 40 acres and put us under Jim Crow laws. That’s a lot to think about. Slavery still exists today in the prison systems. About the AP African American Studies Course. First of all, it was a Pilot Course. College Board sought feedback from the few schools in the pilot program that were teaching the course. Second, none of the other courses included subject matter like the ones DeSantis objected to in the AP AA Course. Third, there is not a course on Asian Studies or Latino Studies. There is a Chinese Language and Culture Course, Japanese Language and Culture Course, and a Spanish Language and Culture Course. Not only are these primarily language courses, but they are not pilot courses. As usual, Sunny is lying.

I don't get you people, everyone usually learns from an elder or someone that owns a company or through schooling, I'm 74 and I'm a Metal Fabricater and I build Industrial Machinery and after two decades I had enough knowledge to go to other countries and install this equipment, so after traveling to 4 continents and over 15+ countries usually taking 2 mo. on each job and usually 3rd world countries. One of my 1st jobs was in Africa building a Aluminum Extrusion Factory because at least 70% of buildings needed windows W/alum.frames like we have here in the US. and in my spare time there I would teach young teenagers English starting with books like"see spot jump" and these guys were also concerned about our slang so when they would come to the state they'd sound like us.So what I'm saying is I was the person running the job using their people, half a dozen Forman and 200 laborers this is how things are built, because when these women on the View say the black people built this country, yes this is how it's done someone at the top and some to make the laborer work and there are the people that built the equ. in a factory to be installed this is how things get done and everyone makes money some more and some less. 🇺🇸
