    I get your point about the load bearing axle, but it's extremely useful when you're hauling super heavy loads. As the name suggests it bears some of the load, putting less strain on the drive train. You just have to know when to use it and you'll find it can really come in handy. The option to remove would be nice I guess, but I like it

    Ya i absolutely agree. I have actually been using it a little more on other trucks to add stability especially when using tankers and such. I think as much as its a downside; it can be used as a benefit as well.

    I love this truck. I know about all it's "cons" but really I don't care. I almost always choose this one when I have something to pull. Don't really know why but, it's my fav, at least one of them. Maybe because "brrrrrrrrr".. 😂. Also for me it has this "one of its kind" feeling so... The first hours together were harsh though, but I've learned to tame this wild beast.

    I used this guy in Amur for a few hauls and it did surprisingly well. I even got bogged down once and lowering the dead axle actually saved me. In Ontario I tried it out with the high range box and it was a horrible drive. It just didn't have the ability to get up to speed to even flip into high to take advantage. By the time I managed to get enough speed to get it going, I was in high for maybe 5-10 seconds before having to drop back down. I'd say skip the high range with this guy. The mission to acquire it is interesting. I've always tried to actually lift it up the slope because I just wanted to, darn it! :D However pulling it through the creek and up onto the road further down is by far an easier option. You may have unlocked the 745C by then so just use the Cat to tow it through the creek instead. Though, in multiplayer, we did manage to pull it up the slope with the careful use of winching and wedging ourselves in. We made it.

    Saying it has no upgraded suspension is... kinda wrong. The Derry 31 is different to the 49X or CT681 in that it basically has a active suspension. When you lower the middle axle on the Derry 31, it raises the frame of the truck up, and by a nice bit at that. I've used it before where I lower the middle axle just to give the truck enough bumper clearance to pop the front wheels up over a ledge, then as soon as I pop the front wheels up I lift the middle axle, lowering the suspension the again. In the 49X or CT681 it doesn't help as much, changing the suspension mode is basically just lifting the middle axle up or down with little effect to ground clearance. But when you lower the middle axle in the Derry 31, it actually does lift up the frame of the truck by quite a noticeable bit. I would NOT leave the middle axle down all the time as those tires will get in the way. But like I said if you ever need more clearance just to clear your nose on something. Then - Drop middle axle and lift frame - Bounce your front axle up - Lift middle axle and lower frame Technically, I believe this was the first truck ever in SnowRunner to have basically a active suspension. It gets overlooked dispute being a first of it's kind. The CT681, 49X, Avov 10X10, DAN, etc all came later.

  • @NProvince

    @NProvince

    2 жыл бұрын

    I respect your long winded response, however a lifted axle with no power is not an active suspension. With all my contracts and testing with this truck, I have found there is hardly a benefit for having that axle down. Go back and look at the state of this vehicle when it’s dead axle was frozen and extended. It was a nightmare to drive. So telling me I’m wrong about it not having a suspension option is incorrect. I see your comments a lot on channels I follow to see if you comment similar things, and I just gotta ask; do you come here simply to disagree with every thing I post? Lifting the vehicle with its dead axle is not an active suspension. If it had an active suspension it would be listed in game and then I would be wrong which is fine. I have made mistakes on reviews and have added comments on those videos to remedy them. However, I also have 2 other testers that cross check my work as well. Honestly brother, I appreciate your well thought out comments and criticism, but they seem as if you come just to solely disagree.

    @@NProvince Do I disagree with you that often? I never felt like I did. I use tips I learned from you playing my own game, I even referenced you a few times when passing along tips to LoneWolf. I'm sure we have different opinions on this and that, like that I prefer heavier trucks with a bit more shallow steering which it something you may of had in your Tayga review as a downside? But I mean I didn't want to imply you was wrong, just that what counted as a negative you, counted as a positive for me as I like those kinda trucks like Voron AE and 6455. But with suspension, wouldn't a active suspension just be in regards to lifting and lowering the frame. When talking about how many axles are powered or not, wouldn't that be a discussion about drivetrain? That's how I was thinking about it. And again I agree with you. I even said not to leave the suspension down all the time. I just meant that on like Russian maps for example where you have those logs or concrete blocks in the road, rather then ramming them with your front bumper, if you wanted to minimalism damage you could lift up the suspension, put your front wheel up on the edge of the object, then lower the suspension again and drive the rest of the truck over. It's rear you need to do that, but it is a useful little tip to know about as occasionally the Derry 31 bumper can get caught. Either way, I'm sorry if my comments have been giving you the wrong impression.

    @@justinlynch3 I dont think you disagree with me on every video, but its often. Honestly, brother its ok to disagree with me. As you have learned things from me, I also have from you as well. I do respect your well thought out comments for sure and appreciate them. I guess after a while it did seem like you didnt enjoy any of my work, but also thats just my perception (Not reality). I see now what you mean about the dead axle being used to bump clearances and such. Yea that is a really good point. An active suspension is indeed meant to lift the frame, youre right, so the dead axle and the active suspension do have those things in common. However, I do feel that the active suspension can be used more long term rather than situational with the dead axle lift. The way you described could work well in area with some skill to finesse it for sure. Please dont apologize brother, there has been no transgression. Forgive me if I came off as defensive. As you have stated not all of my upsides are your upsides and thats ok. We all have a playstyle and trucks fall into that playstyle to work for us. I value your opinion and you have some really great points.

I think I just got into the habit of calling them all Active Suspension. Another topic, what you think about transporting our new forwarder? Imo it would be great if some trucks got a special transport platform (bed) for it. It is a common way to transport ( i've seen 8 wheelers)forestry machines in europe rather than in a separate trailer. How about in NA, do you transport forest machines on separate trailer or on a truck?

    I feel like the Derry 3194 is alot weaker than Saber actually intended for it to be. If you preview it in the garage, the front suspension completely collapses under the weight of the truck alone, and if you compare it to images of the real Oshkosh, the M911 has a much higher ground clearance at the front. It basically drives like it has no front suspension because it's completely compressed by default. If the front suspension was stiffer, the front bumper and transfer box would be far less problematic to getting caught on terrain.

    The "dead" Axle is actually useful when hauling super heavy trailers, it will give you extra ground clearance so you dont bottom out as easy, just play with it and try it out. For normal cargo i have it always up

    MrGabolas has a good point, You can use it in some cases and see how you feel about it. Personally I never felt I needed it. The Axle in the downward position with no power is going to drag along adding ground resistance. Its totally a driver preferance though.

    Yeah, I wonder whether having it lowered gives some benefits on some surfaces or not. Or it's just smarter to always have it raised. Personally I prefer to believe that it reduces ground pressure and the truck gets harder to fall through the breakable ice.

    I have a good many reviews lined up, but I threw this on the list. It could be a while due to taking so much time on each of these, but rest assured it will be reviewed soon. :)

    It’s actually a strong truck. I wouldn’t be afraid of the dead axle :)
