Derry Girls is the only show in which it doesn't bother me that teenagers are played by a bunch of 30-year-olds, probably because it's just so funny I'm too busy laughing to mind

They where all in their early 20s when shooting this, except Clare who was early 30s

@@joeblackproductions1 Huh? They were in their late 20s/early 30s when the series began shooting, the youngest being Saoirse-Monica Jackson who was 23.

I am so pleasantly surprised that you're watching (gave it another shot) . I binged it a few months ago and it's so witty and funny , the writing is my type of humor. They're all a Mess 🤣🤣🤣🥂
We take regular town buses to school in the UK, and during the rush hour the adults have to endure all these loud schoolkids getting on. The back row of seats is the magnet for the cool schoolkids, and the adults also know this and let them monopolise it, and it becomes this zone of kids shouting about their day and gossiping. The back row is usually a little bit elevated over the rest of the deck, and it's warmer because that's where the exhaust gets used to heat a radiator under the seats, which is an important feature in long school seasons of grey skies and rain.
The final episode of each series has me ugly crying. Because of what’s going on in the world around them. I remember it horribly well.
This is such a feel good show! prepare to cackle

Thanks for your reaction. I have just Subscribed from S E London and at 69 years old,I would say Derry Girls is one of the best 15 Sitcomes,I have ever seen. Set during "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland, which would have been occupied by British troops at this time. ENJOY:)
They were speaking in English, with an Irish accent… geez Louise the show is set in Northern Ireland. I have no trouble understanding what they are saying…..they may phrase things differently than we do but that should not be a hinderence.

people are from different places … personally i wouldn’t have been able to understand 90% of the show without subtitles

Being an Anglophone from across the pond, I can understand about 75-80% of what they were saying without subtitles but they also used lots of Irish slang terms and expressions which I was not familiar with (grass, ride, catch yourself on, wee, wain, etc).

YAAAAAASSSSSS!! GIRL, soooo exciting to watch you react to this! I LOVE this show, it cracked me up so hard. Like I would literally be crying almost every episode! I am off of work today, so I did not set an alarm to wake up. I got up to the toilet at 6 and when I went to see the time on my mobile I saw a notification to this reaction, I was like YES! AND so my day begins unexpectedly early today, but in the best way possible! You keep being my absolute favorite reactor! Hugs from Argentina!

No it's not... Erin is played by Saoirse-Monica Jackson, the writer is Lisa McGee

No, it was written by Lisa McGee. She based Erin on herself and the other Derry Girls on her friends. Saoirse-Monica Jackson plays Erin but she didn't write the script. She is from Derry though as is Jamie-Lee O'Donnell who plays Michelle

I love derry girls, the only small nitipick i have with it is that they didnt focus and kinda wasted a character arc that shouldve been more explored. Wont say more cause i wont spoil
