I'm a type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed at 10 and 33 now and he is right the advancements of pumps and cgms have made life so much easier. Dexcom g6 with my tandem pump had been a life saver.

Honestly , Im not sure how I got here. But he's hot lmao

I was told that I could become borderline diabetic and started crying. My mom got me to calm down because she told me the the actor who plays Danny in Baby Daddy was a diabetic.

jeremy irvine also has got type one and it is really interesting to see differences in how they both monitor and control the diesease

I live this dude on Baby Daddy I'm so sad it got cancelled 😭 my friend has diabetes (type 1) and one of her friends from her school (we got to different schools) got mad at her for missing so much school (she didn't know she has diabetes) and my friend has an anxiety disorder. I feel so bad for my friend and she hates it so much. She wants a service dog but her parents won't let her.

It's honestly irresponsible and frankly idiotic for the older doctor to tell him "Oh, nobody would be able to tell you have T1 diabetes-you're so fit!" knowing perfectly well that level of fitness/weight has ZERO to do with being a T1 diabetic. It's this kind of bullshit that has resulted in the general public assuming diabetes is a monolithic disease that people bring on themselves by eating too much sugar. T1 diabetes happens because of an autoimmune malfunction; T2 can happen for a confluence of reasons, some that are a patient's fault, and some that are not.

They kept saying “You look so healthy! You don’t look like you have diabetes!” Well no crap. Type one diabetes is not caused by obesity or anything, it’s failure of the pancreas. Type 1 is generally thought to be worse. First, it's with you for life-it happens because of an immune malfunction that destroys the cells in your pancreas that make insulin-there's no going back from that. Second, because you have to treat T1 by introducing insulin into your body manually, there is the risk of hypoglycemia (where you inject too much insulin and/or don't eat enough food after the injection). Type 2 is "better" in that can often resolve itself with exercise and diet changes. The one thing about T2 that is worse in my opinion is that it often comes on gradually, to the point that people don't always notice it; which means high blood sugar can go unchecked for an extended period of time (months, even years), and cause a lot of damage to your body. T1 diabetes comes on rapidly in comparison. I was diagnosed with T1 when I was 21, and my symptoms manifested out of thin air. Within a period of a week, I had become constantly thirsty, had to urinate all the time, and had blurred vision. I went to the hospital and had a blood glucose reading of almost 600. I quite frankly could have been dead with a BG count that high.

That Derek Theler is DISGUSTING! He’s just too bloody handsome, and he comes across as a very genuine lovely girl, and I loved his relationship with the little girls who played Emma just before that funny show got cancelled, and if I ever find out who cancelled Baby Daddy, I will haunt their nightmares until they bring it back! Like Derek Theler, my mother was diabetic as well and she got the condition later on in life but was always on top of it and it wasn’t a major thing in her life as long as she had her machines and medications with her. Diabetes is rift on my dad’s side of the family and almost all the male cousins on my paternal side has it apart from myself and brother and three male cousins, and we reside in the U.K., well born here, and my brother came to the U.K. from Mauritius when he was about 3. I believe my dad had developed diabetes just before his passing, but it could have been a false result due to the fact that he was fighting three cancers. However, diabetes is quite a big thing in Mauritius, where my family came from, and quite rift amongst Asians, which my father’s family were originally from, so I wonder if that’s likely a factor? I find Derek Theler, as a huge human and actor, a very positive role-model for people, especially amongst the young people, to show that you can still live a fulfilling life and be whoever you want, even if you have diabetes. Nothing stopped my mum from living her life to the max, she had the condition but she never allowed the condition to be her all and to define her. Diabetes is only dangerous and can be fatal, if you don’t look after yourself. My mother passed away 13 years ago, but it wasn’t from her diabetes. So if you have it, just look after yourself and know your limits, and you can live a long and productive life. Diabetes isn’t life threatening or a life sentence anymore, as long as you respect your condition and do the right thing to maintain your health
