Not to take away from the moment bc it was awesome, but Kobe shot the ball 50 times that game and his percentage was below league avg and he shot 6-21 from 3pt that game lol. Memorable for the 60 pts not the below avg numbers though!

Watched this with my Pop, aged 97, a city boy from Harlem who got to throw a ball from 3rd to 1st at Yankee Stadium when he was a kid; said it took a few bounces to get there; he was with his mom at the game that Gehrig said good-bye. Dad passed less than a month later. Baseball gives us shared memories that become hard-wired in our psyches and part of our family history. Thanks, Derek, for one of the last happy ones I had with my dad.

As a Red Sox fan,I was taught that the Yankees are evil,LOL. But Derek Jeter is the classiest guy who ever played the game of baseball during the "Steroid Era". He is the epitomy of what every major leaguer should be like: Respectful,humble & classy. I respect Mr. Jeter and I like the way he played the game. He was an integral part of this great rivalry. So,to this I say: Thank you,Derek Jeter,for adding another dynamic to this great rivalry! Respect to you,Mr. Jeter. I got words for you,though: GET MARRIED! LOL!

I'm not even a Yankees fan but this made me tear up. I grew up with this guy playing baseball.

Fitting ending, for a champion and a true winner, who played the game the right way as hard as he could with heart and desire. He was, for the better part of 20 years, THE ONE GUY Yankee fans wanted at the plate in the late innings of a tight game. He played hurt, he played hard, he never embarrassed himself, or his uniform, or the game itself. It was a privilege to watch him play the game.

I couldn't script that moment if I tried hard. I mean the elements were there, stat-wise. Bottom of the 9th, 1 Out, Runner in Scoring Position and who comes up to bat next? Bob Shepard: "Now batting for the Yankees, Num-bah Two, Derek Jeter. Numbah Two." As Yankee Fans are chanting his name, he jumps on the first pitch he saw and sends it opposite field for a game winning single sending Antoan Richardson home for the Yankee "W". Like I said, I couldn't script that moment if I tried hard. That is a moment Yankee fans will treasure for years to come. If there is a baseball almanac or encyclopedia, and you had to look up the word "class", you would likely find a picture of Derek Jeter. Bottom line, he deserves respect.

In 2007, I had the amazing opportunity to sit on the Green Monster at Fenway Park and watch my Red Sox play the Yankees. Jeter beat us on a three-run homer off Schilling in the eighth. After the game, Roger Clemens, who had a no-decision, said of Jeter, "It's an honor to watch the best clutch hitter in history do his thing." I was disappointed by the outcome of the game at the time, but now I'm far more thankful that I had the chance to watch him play and succeed. Hell of a player.

Watched his first career Home walk off and watched his last career home walk off both live. Simply amazing and childhood memories.

This is the most epic ending to a regular season game in Yankees history! Nobody deserves it more than the Captain!

THE CAPTAIN!

I was there. That moment was unlike anything else I had ever experienced, and still haven't since. The stadium ERUPTED. That roar that came with that hit, the plapable tension of the moment and how he could end his career in that moment in that at-bat with a tied game in the 9th, at home, with thousands chating DE-REK JE-TER! over and over. It still chokes me up just telling my experience.

The fact that it’s 6 years later and I’m still genuinely upset we will never see him play again

Growing up, I used to always tell my mom (who loves the Yankees) that I HATED the Yankees. "But that Derek Jeter guy", I'd say, "he is a class act and the only Yankee I'll probably ever cheer for".

We did fleet week in New York in 1998 when I was in the Navy… we got free tickets to go to a Yankees game, it was pretty cool to see Jeter in person even though I’m a Red Sox fan, it was awesome , Yankees 6 white sox 3; Jeter had 3 RBI’s that day

I WAS AT THIS GAME!!! THE ENERGY IN THE ARENA WAS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!!! YOU COULD’NT WRITE A BETTER ENDING!!! #THECAPTAIN 🐐

Gave me the chills as well as bringing me to tears. I followed his entire career along with my sons who are his age range. There are no words to truly describe what he has brought to this game and fans. Derek you are a forever Yankee legend. So glad I got to experience the story in real time ⚾💟⚾💟⚾

First, I want to give props to Michael Kay for the great call! Second, it's been 7 years since this moment (it feels like yesterday!) and I still get choked up watching this. The part that really got me when I watched it on YES that night was when Derek headed for the tunnel and Michael Kay said, "So long Derek." I broke down after that. Derek, congratulations on induction into the HOF! I miss watching you play to this day! You were, are, and always will be my idol! Love you, man! #RE2PECT

One of the most moving and awesome moments in baseball history. And I'm a Mets fan. I would take 1 Jeter over 10 of anyone else. Amazing player and even more amazing person.

This still makes me tear up. He made my late 90s and early 2000s. I am not sure that I will be alive to see another Yankee legend. My old boss got a chance to see Mantle and Maris play. I got a chance to see Jackson, Jeter and Mo. Life has been good.

Class act!! Saw him play at Wrigley Field, when Kerry Wood faced Roger Clemens and Hee Sop Choi went down! That was 2003. Not a Yankee fan, but tons of respect for Derek Jeter!!

I feel like that the way I feel is probably how older people felt when Mantle retired. Both were great players and both owned New York. Called it? I was sitting in a restaurant, saw he was due up 3rd when we had a 2 run lead. My Exact facebook post was "Plot Twist: Orioles tie the game, leadoff man gets on, Gardner bunts him over to second and Jeter gets a classic game winning hit to right field." I Swear on my mothers grave, I have never been so happy to be right about something in my life.

As a huge fan of the Yankees, i was not able to go to the final game but i have met jeter and seen him plenty off times and i go to games in NY often, i live in baltimore, im in school here, and there were a few of us Yankee fans in a baltimore bar, and i could say i had tears of joy out of my eyes, this was like winning a world series but better in some way, its was the perfect story ending. Even the baltimore fans here showed their respect for the captain.

I'm a die-hard Yankee fan, so I in no way want to diminish this moment at all. I couldn't have been more excited when this happened. However, this game meant nothing for the Yankees in the standings, while that home run sent the Giants to the World Series. I'm sure Jeter would've rather taken that home run from himself or a teammate (in any year of his career) than a walk-off single in his last home game

***** many year's ago the federal government created a racial law that still stands stating that if you have one drop of black blood in your body that means your race is black, its called the (one drop rule) why do you think the federal government acknowledges Barack Obama as being the first black president ? When anyone goes to apply for a job their is no biracial or mixed option to mark down as your race, biracial or mixed is just a person's personal opinion regarding race, the federal government doesn't recognise that, it's not conclusive... like i previously stated Derek Jeter will go down as being one of the greatest (black) African American baseball players of all time.
