Derek Blasberg spends a day with Emmanuelle Alt at Fashion Week | Vogue Paris

During Fashion Week last season, way back before the lockdown and the arrival of social distancing, King of KZread, Derek Blasberg spent a day as a Vogue Paris intern to find out what it's really like to work for the world's greatest fashion magazine. After choosing the perfect outfit with fashion editor-in-chief Aleksandra Woroniecka, he joined editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt for lunch at the Crillon before heading to the Dior show at Paris Fashion Week. Then it was time to come to the office: the fashion closet needed clearing up and he was the man for the job.

lol, I love how he took an Uber from Ritz Vendôme to Hôtel de Crillon which is less than a 10 min walk and then hop into the Uber from Crillon only to go across the street to the Dior show in jardin des Tuileries.

It is true that the video shows only white people and I really hope it is not a fair representation of vogue otherwise this is horrifying. Then to mitigate a bit, black people in France are mostly first and second generation and it usually explains why they are under-represented in office because sadly, like in many countries, it takes 3 generations to achieve this kind of position. In my business school they were few back people, they did get good job like the rest of people but they were for sure under-represented. Plus, the world of fashion and culture in general work in closed circle so network is really important which again does not benefit minorities and poor people. In other sector such as finance or tech there are definitely more minorities than in fashion.

Vogue is a white corporation. I can't wait till the day black people and other people of colour get it through their heads that white people don't REALLY want us in their club and decide to create our own clubs. I.e. our own fashion/beauty/life style infrastructures because otherwise this redundant complaining is just embarrassing and annoying. We are quite capable of building those platforms.
