Derailment Delayed Train, Rusty Rails Before & After Train Going Through Interlocking, Hamilton Ohio
Ойын-сауық
Train Crossing Over Rusty Rails From Track 2 To Track 1 North Of Hamilton, Ohio. This train was delayed due to a train derailment in Hamilton, Ohio on the CSX main line. This track is the Norfolk Southern main line to Muncie, Indiana. Also, a massive long train in Hamilton Ohio in the rain just north of the train derailment site. A grain train is also featured. I am told that this video has 3 trains. The first train is seen coming straight at the camera as it crosses over at the CSX and Norfolk Southern interchange leading to the New Castle Sub. We get to see a close up of the rusty rails before and after the train passes and we see the markings on the rail for the weight in yards and the date that it was rolled. That looks cool seeing the train coming straight at you! That is New River Junction at New Miami, Ohio. The second locomotive is a Union Pacific Railroad. The train derailment happened just a couple miles south of here at 8:05am May 27, 2022. This video was filmed about 4pm on May 27, 2022 just a few hours after I filmed the derailment. See my video of the derailment, it is an awesome up close look son! • Train Derailment Next ... Don't forget about Chessie and Norfie at the end of the video and please leave a comment!

Hey, JT! Just thought I'd remind you that your films have revived the railroad enthusiast in me! I’m significantly old than you and have no railroad anywhere nearby today. So the only train viewing I get is on KZread. This channel is my favorite. Those are some pretty big raindrops in there!

New river junction looks like an awesome place to watch trains. Even minor derailment’s can cause major headaches for train crews and dispatchers. Thanks for documenting what happened there Jaw. Peace.👍🏼🚂

Also would be interesting to learn what happened at dispatching hq's--the coordination to shift from CSX dispatch to NS dispatch, then back to CSX. How the connecting tracks were aligned without interfering with home railroad operations, etc.

That last train was a monster!
Great video....first train with all those vehicle frames(Magna Int'l?) and UP loco...didn't know ballast would support crops 🙂. That intermodal train was so long it would solve the supply chain crisis on its own! The old Paper Mill building is really a fine example of early century industrial architecture; maybe they'll turn it into loft space or condo's ...a shame to tear it down. Chessie is man's best friend and Norfie purrs like a GP-18🐈. These videos are relaxing after a long day!
Good stuff on the stuff falling off of trains. The soybeans and corn looked like they have a fighting chance. What if one of those auto frames falls off and you come back to video there again in a month and find a new car coming up through the ballast? Would you tell anyone, Señor Jaws? I bet you see all kinds of weird stuff out there. Good on ya! Gracias por tu video. RT sends... Puebla, México...
18:40 You don't see 89-foot trailer flatcars very often nowadays, and here's two of them in a row (on second look they appear to be drawbar-connected pairs intended to carry three 45' or 53' trailers with the middle trailer straddling the pair.)
The switchover reminds me of my model train sets (HO) when I was a kid - it's a thrill to see that engine balancing from side to side as it changes tracks. Thanks JT - another great vid!
Hi there I love your train videos trains are so awesome to watch I enjoy watch them everyday thank you for all the hard-work you put in filming them I’ll keep watching it thanks again
Now thats one massive double stack didn't think it was ever going to end they must have emptied 3-4 yards for this one lol
Cool crossover Jawtooth! Really cool how those tracks switch remotely and a good reminder not to walk along the tracks, could you imagine someone walking along and one of those switches changing and catching their foot! Awesome catches! And thanks for sharing!

I was beginning to wonder if you were going to upload anything today, but you finally uploaded this awesome catch, and an update on the derailment in Hamilton, Ohio.
I often wonder if the engineers have in the back of their minds, “hope we don’t derail with all these switches.”

I'm not an engineer (and I live in Europe, don't have such worries here), but I often have such thoughts knowing and seeing how many derailments happened just in last year or two, throughout US and Canada! Heavy trains, and those switches looks (!) It's scary! Also just before and after the crossings: sleepers and mudd from the rain/water.... anyway, locomotives going up and down, left right, dancing over the switches and crossings at higher speeds (cars too) ; it is worrying ! Should be more welded rails on concrete sleepers and frequently change the switches! They have controls of the track, but what is safe is questionable !

Hello JT!!! Been meaning to comment on this video for months. I love interlockings. I've always been fascinated about the switching of trains how even out away from civilization, I can be watching when suddenly a switch will activate seemingly all by itself, like magic. I especially enjoy the interlocking at the beginning of this video where the NS and CSX come together. I really enjoyed watching the NS utilizing the crossover then being routed a different direction through the interlocking. I find it fascinating that a dispatcher hundreds of miles away can, with the simple press of a button, change the direction of an entire train to get it to where it needs to go. I think this is one of your best interlocking videos I've seen unless there's another you have that I possibly haven't seen. I could sit with my favorite beverage at that first interlocking you filmed all day and be happy. And thank you so much for the videos of Chessie and Norfie. I forget the name of your other dog...sorry. I like cats but I love dogs and miss my last dog terribly. Chessie looks like she's such a sweetheart. I can tell she's your buddy. She has such a sweet face like she doesn't have a mean bone in her. My last dog tugged at my jeans leg too when she wanted more attention. Thanks too for enduring the rain for our benefit at the end of this video. I'm sure it wasn't pleasant, yet you hung in there. Can't thank you enough for all of your efforts. Please be safe sir and, you hang in there.
Good diesel chug on the CSX. Interesting videos this AM. Thanks.

Hello Mr. Scopoli. I chanced upon this channel due to the creator's comment on a prank video. Upon seeing the number of subscribers (173K), I was floored. I didn't know there was such an audience for train videos. If I may ask a personal question, what makes them so appealing, not only for you, but can you venture a guess for others? It's great there are resources like this for others with the same interest.
That was very cool watching the train switch over, Great video!
Hallo Mr Jaw TOOTH, was a pleasure to watch your recordings on the trains here in the city of Hamilton in the state of Ohio. Never went to this place in Ohio yet, but it seems a nice state to visit. Love to see the trains overthere passing that interlocking on the tracks. Was a super miles long cargo train for sure, never saw such a long train in my life. Nice recording and I am loooking forward for your next train video. Watching this nice train video from Paramaribo in Suriname...... Marty
Excellent job thanks Jt. Chris from England.
The rust on the running surface of the rail is only superficial. Absence of trains for a day or two and rain and rust forming, very light in color. All it takes is the passing of a train for it to disappear.
Great video and a derailment wow hope everyone is okay and first

Liked the crossover move. All the flatcars with truck frames were something you don't see every day. When i was a kid we used to take pop cans and put them between the points and watch them get crushed when the interloking returned to normal. Sometimes the can would jam the points open and must have showed a fault down at the tower in the Menominee valley ( Milwaukee Wi.) because within minutes a speeder would show up and the driver would get out and pry the can out. I used to think it was all kinds of funny back in the day but now, not so much. Thanks for the great video!
Wow super long trains another amazing train video thanks Jaw Tooth
I counted 218 compartments and cars on the 3rd train. I counted it twice, both times with 218 compartments and cars. I count each compartment as one, even though the 3 to 5 compartments cars are one car, each with the same car number. But each compartment has a suffix of A, B, C, D, or E. Most compartments will be between 60 and 70 feet long.
You just reminded me of my hometown in Iowa. There was a CNW auto rack in the first NS train. Chicago & North Western (now UP) had a double track main right through the middle of my town.
The switch action was really cool. Thanks Jaw Tooth.
5:37 I guess those are truck frames since most cars are unibody ?
Love how the track is still fastened down with old fashioned spikes to wooden ties even on a class one railroad ,
Great video Brian!👍

Good video Jawtooth! You know I saw an ns intermodal yesterday with a heritage unit, we were the first ones up there because the crossing gates went down right before i was about to go over the tracks! But a car went around the gates and it was the car behind us, but the train was almost 3ft away from slamming into the side of the SUV!

Great catch - about that location where the old paper mill is - is the area mostly industrial or mixed use ? The speeds were slow since they had to go through multiple switches to get to branch lines. Are there any plans for the area for the futue ?

In the mid-1960's I was lived in Hamilton but went to college in Wisconsin. Back then the branch this train is taking to Indianapolis was Pennsylvania, and they still had a passenger train to Chicago. For a couple of years I was able to take the Chicago Northwestern train from Appleton Wis, to Chicago, then the Pennsylvania to Hamilton when coming home for Christmas. Unfortunately there was very little time to change stations (LaSalle St to Union Station) in Chicago, so several times I ended up on a bus. Good memories, all the same.
Jawtooth - nice work as usual. I don’t usually comment on other peoples videos, but when it comes to the railroad you definitely have the some of the best. I had the opportunity to visit North Platte Yard last week…Ever been there? Mark, (retired engineer, Amtrak)
