    Italian is the official language in italy, san marino, vatican city and switzerland. It's also the official language in SOME parts of croatia and slovenia. Had official status also in albania, malta, monaco, montenegro and greece. Still spoken in Corsica (France)

    Whoever draws the ball comics forgot to include Canada in the French group. Common misconception: Québec is the only French-speaking part of Canadian. Fact: Canada has literally two major provinces that speak French, with around 25% who actually speak French daily at home, and probably around 30-40% who actually almost fluently understand but don't regularly speak French. I'm one of those people. We have two official languages for a reason, not just because Québec exists...

    Italy sort of has countries that speak Italian. Kinda. Italian is the most spoken foreign language in Albania and is one of the 4 primary languages in Switzerland along with German, French, and Romansh. (Italian, German, and French maintain equal status as official languages at the national level.) Plus San Marino and the Vatican.

    @@questionableargumentations1364 we aren’t depressed but it’s a little sad that no country speaks italian outside of Italy and switzerland ahahahha, but we are relieved because i recently discovered italian is the 4th most studied language because it’s beautiful and it’s the closest to latin, so at least the people who speak italian start to learn it because of pleasure only... and not because of business like english ecc (even tho i don’t think english is ugly unpopular opinion)

    @@dakota6050 It is, but that doesn't mean everything is in german. In the west the ppl speak french, in the south they speak italian and in the canton of Grissons they speak romansh; a language that is only spoken there. And even if german is the biggest language in the country we don't speak standart german. Every province has it's own dialect that is very different from german itself. I can put that into a comparison; The sentence "It rained so hard that one needed an umberella" German: "Es hat so fest geregnet, dass man einen Regenschirm brauchte." Swiss dialect from Fribourg " As het so fescht gräänet, dasmu a Pärisou bruucht het." Swiss dialect from Bern "Es het so fest grägnet, das me e Rägeschrim brucht het."

    Technically Eritrea and italian Somalia still speak Italian (a bit in Lybia and Ethiopia too) but sadly we unified too late and colonies were already taken...😁 (and don't forget that in Switzerland technically italian is an official language)

    as an italian i can say that pretty much the majority of italians actually doesn’t care about the fact that there is no “italic” language family or related to italian, we are unique in the world and italian is only spoken in Italy so that makes us even more unique! I see the glass half full, in fact the foreign people i know who speak italian they do it because it’s beautiful and melodic or because they are into opera music, not because they are forced to learn it for business or for utility in general.
