One of my all time favorite songs. Amazing to think Martin wrote this when he was only 20 or 21. Here singing it in his 50s. Timeless, obviously.

he might’ve written it earlier as he said many songs from this album were written when he was 16

Songwriters: Gore, Martin I've told myself so many times before But this time I think I mean it for sure We have reached a full stop Nothing's gonna save us from the big drop Reached our natural conclusion Outlived the illusion I hate being in these situations That call for diplomatic relations If I only knew the answer Or I thought we had a chance Or I could stop this I would stop this thing from spreading like a cancer What can I say? (I don't want to play) anymore What can I say? I'm heading for the door I can't stand this emotional violence Leave in silence We've been running around in circles all year Doing this and that and getting nowhere This'll be the last time (I think I said that last time) If I only had a potion, Some magical lotion That could stop this, I would stop this I would set the wheels in motion What can I say? (I don't want to play) anymore What can I say? I'm heading for the door I can't stand this emotional violence Leave in silence

Wow! I love hearing Martin sing this one! So haunting and emotive. Those lyrics are simply amazing especially with the stripped down version. It adds a new meaning to Leave in Silence. 💕

Daft? Its one of their best. So much of their early stuff is criminally overlooked. I still listen to Speak And Spell and A Broken Frame these days.

WHY WHY WHY cant they ever perform these songs in America??? I would pay so much money for a DM concert that was all songs like this that they havent performed in ages. One tour without all the big hits. Album cuts and pre-stadium singles only. I havent heard Two Minute Warning live since 1984!!

at least you heard it. I was born in 98 and it sucks to be a. fan of older songs, because you can't hear em live! It sucks.

Nice to hear it again, I don't go to the concerts now, because they never play the songs from my era anymore. I'm not a huge fan of a cappella either and probably would have preferred the original played live. I have always thought that the music was more important than the lyrics, especially in the early days of Depeche Mode. Good lyrics make a song flow, but the deep meaningful lyrics obsession, has become all that matters in the music industry nowadays, at the expense of original natural flowing melodies, not edited from a library.
