Deobra Redden Faces Judge He Attacked For Sentencing

Convicted felon Deobra Redden appeared before the same Las Vegas judge he was caught on camera leaping over the bench and attacking last week.
On Monday, Judge Mary Kay Holthus sentenced 30-year-old Deobra Redden to 19 months to two years in prison on attempted battery charges. This was in connection to a baseball bat attack on a person last year and isn’t related to the courtroom attack. According to an arrest report, Holthus said Redden knocked her out of her chair and slammed her head against the wall before ripping some of her hair out.

She didn't even say anything terrible. Some judges have really laid into defendants at sentence and they just sit there and take it. He lost it at taste of his own medicine or something different I don't remember exactly what she said, which he quite obviously does. No impulse control at all and that's not going to going to be good for him in jail unless he becomes like a celebrity in there for actual hitting the judge

I'm so tired of mental illness being used to invalidate his crimes. His mental illness does not invalidate what he did and it doesn't mean he should get a lesser sentencing. Mental health may not be your fault but it is your responsibility to seek help from community services or even the courts if thats the situation you're in.

Exactly. And it is deeply troubling that as a society we just excuse horrible behavior w a MH diagnosis. Thousands of folks diagnosed with his same exact issues walk freely and follow laws wo problems.

@DarieusFlorence-fv3xc Why would school shooters be any different? Mental illness/sickness effects all types of people and unless someone is right in the throws of a complete psychotic break, then they know or at least have a good idea, of right vs wrong.

And that has a lot to do with the internet brainwashing people into believing that they don't need to respect a judge. It's the "You are a public servant, you work for me" mentality. And it does nothing except land them all with stricter jail conditions.
