What is an inlay and onlay? How is the process to restore a tooth with them?

One of the available techniques to restore a damaged tooth is the realization of an inlay/onlay.
We can also achieve excellent cosmetic results performing reconstructions using composites and inlays where indicated.
The composite reconstruction is commonly referred to as "filling".
Inlays/onlays are another way to rebuild teeth that have been affected either by decay or fracture. It consists in performing the reconstruction outside the mouth using casts from the affected tooth, so when it is placed on the tooth fits perfectly, like a puzzle piece.
Firstly, the tooth is prepared eliminating damaged structures.
After that, an impression of the preparation is taken, on which the inlay/onlay will be fabricated using different materials.
This inlay/onlay is polished and the adjustment and contact points are checked.
Once the inlay/onlay is done, the adjustment and occlusion with the opposing teeth are checked in the mouth, releasing any excessive contact on it.
The cavity and the inlay/onlay are then prepared with the corresponding adhesive and polymerized to adhere it to the tooth.
Finally, the contact points are checked and the surface polished.

Hola, Sería recomendable que visitase a su dentista para que valorase y determinase el origen del dolor, ya que puede ser causado por distintos motivos.
The WaterMark PARDINAS should not be on the most important area of the video .

@@Dentalk Wonder full content I do understand your concern , but the watermark can be placed out of the working field ,without obstructing the view , I was unable to see the video clearly . It's just my suggestion

@@pootis1699 you’re right lol just thought of doing an update since it’s now over in case someone who’s scared sees this: yes, it hurted when they were very close to the nerve, only because i didn’t want anesthesia so i asked not to get it (i was scared of the needle) but in the end we both understood it would be better with the anesthesia so they stung me and it was NOTHING, like for real, and then i almost didn’t feel pain when they carried the « operation ». so it happened in 2 appointments and if i’m correct the first one lasted around 20 minutes, and the last one not even 10. I was free then and it’s all going well.

I have a DDS who did an inlay, but I couldn't afford a cleaning at his office, so I went to a different place where a cleaning was free, at this place they said that because it hurts me when they poke my inlay, I need to go back to my DDS to look at my inlay because there's something wrong with it and there might be a hole in it AND that my fillings on other teeth need to come out and get crowns, ... I went back to my DDS, he examined me but it didn't hurt and he said my inlay is just fine and there's nothing wrong with my fillings either🤨🤨🤨🤨🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔... this other place was just trying to cash in on my insurance
