Going from speakers to washing machines and then to toilets, all I can say is that your sound tests are becoming more and more sophisticated and noble. Now I've got a bit scared of flushing my toilet because I might get disappointed in its sound stage! By the way, your daughter is a real fighter..

Very interesting - and speaking as a cockney myself, I love the wacky humour from the valley's : ) Anyway, onto point. I have had a Sony SCD-CE595 SACD player for about 20 years now (from new) and despite having had it so long I still love it and have no plans to replace it. It plays SACD's, CD's, CDR and CDRW - probably more format's but these are the one's I use in this unit. The sound is fantastic, the laser takes about five or six seconds to read the disk and then off we go. The sound is fantastic. However, just recently I hooked up my Sony BDP-S370 Blue Ray/SACD - analogue outputs - and I was amazed to find that SACD's (only) actually sound better on the latter than on the former. CD's however still sound better in the dedicated CD transport. Both units can be found today on ebay for £150-ish if you are patient and lucky and I thoroughly recommend both units. Anyway, thank you for posting. Nice Saturday morning viewing. Oh, and incidentally, I think you left "Mike Hunt" off the credits ...

If you want a great player you should consider a Yamaha DVD C940 Changer not only does it Play SACD but if it's a newer CD that has Track information it will display it . The DVD-C940 has the ability to play SACD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+RW/R, DVD-Video, and MP3s The internal dac is very good but I use the coaxial out just out of convenience. It is a changer that does not have HDMI but I have a converter that changes the component video to HDMI. You can play all audio discs without being connected to a TV and it does have 6 analog outputs for multi channel discs . I've had most every brand of SACD players and none sounded better and these generally sell for around $50. This thing is huge and that's the only real negative but I've had it since 2006 and I just have not found anything that can do all it can do as well as it does for anything close to it's price .

Thanks for the video. I can’t hear a significant difference between 2-ch SACD and 16b@44.1k once level matched. The primary reason I bought into SACD recently is to get access to more 5.1 mixes.

Yeah good review I just laughed at bog and crapper sound a b test. I have that sony too...sux how it won't play cdr etc. Sony and their copyright allergy lol. Denon made some great players then. My Onkyo DV 525 that cost $1400 back in the day didn't play cdr either. But it played DVD region 1 .. the first unit here in Australia then to do it I was told. There was an NAD but you had to program it....the Onkyo was automatic. It compares to the Sony 725 I think. The Oppo 95 and 105 really took home video to the next level in the peak Bluray era.

Denon products have very slow cd trays. I have a 3 year old DCD 600 cd player. That is veryslow to eject and go back in, I also had a blu ray player that I recently sold that was just the same. Its just the way they are. I suspect there is nothing wrong with your player.

Sounds of the flushing toilets obviously depends on the acoustics of the relative spaces. 🤪🤣

Sorry mate, but you're mistaken on the SA-CD output. In the main, you have the choice between sending DSD out via HDMI to a compatible device (normally an AV amp/ receiver) OR an analogue signal via the RCA outputs. The SA-CD spec prohibited using the non-HDMI digital outputs (Toslink and coax) for DSD output. This wasn't (as is often stated) because the bandwidth of toslink/ coax is insufficient for the signal (DSD 64 is equivalent in bandwidth to PCM at 88.2kHz) but because Sony didn't want people to be able to capture the DSD signal from these unencrypted outputs.

Maybe on other players but not this one. It actually states in the manual that the HDMI does not output the SACD area, page 16.

@@UTILITARIANTVUK Sure, that's fair enough. But in the main, DVD players (that have HDMI outputs) and Blu-ray players that handle SA-CD tend to output DSD via the HDMI socket or analogue through the RCA outputs (assuming they have them). It's annoying because there are loads of DACs that support DSD via DoP through Toslink or coax, but Sony prohibits it. A bit silly given that by this point in time, 99.999999% of people either haven't heard of or even care about SA-CD or DSD!!

@@UTILITARIANTVUKyes it’s more recently that you can transmit SACD over HDMI. Some of them will just convert to 24bit@188kHz for HDMI whereas some of the Sony Blu-ray and 4K players will allow you to transmit DSD over HDMI but you also need a AVR/processor that can accept DSD over HDMI.
