Hi. Thanks for your review on these! I enjoy your reviews, so much so that I went out and bought the Yamaha hph mt5’s for travel use. These Denon’s are my replacement of audioquest nighthawks and I’m so happy that you believe that they are as good as I do. They wipe the floor with the nighthawks! Looking forward to see the difference between the 7200’s and the 9200’s. Keep up the good work!

Warm Denon sound is the exact thing my ears are craving for... I love Denon and their signature sound.... great punchy bass with clear mids and highs. I have ordered D7200 to extend my Denon collection. So, far surprisingly the best Denon headphones I have are HP800.... dj headphones with audiophile sound. I look forward to compare them all.

The LCD2C should be used with the Audeze Reveal plugin in Equalizer APO to correct the sound to reference. It boosts the bass and corrects the peaks and dips in the treble.

I'm bagging a pair of these later this week , have owned many many open backed headphones anything from the Sennheiser 580s , whole of 600 series , AKG 7 series and the AKG flagship 812 and many more BUT wanted my first pair of closed backed but wanted something that is higher end so decided on these would have gone to the 9200 but can't stretch to those. Just wondering do this sound typical closed back or do they have a decent soundstage width , I'm not expecting AKG 701 width but good for closed back. Love your enthusiastic reviewing style as well , seems sometimes you are so enthused that you are lost for words lol especially on the 9200 review but keep up the good work!

An excellent review! I find it odd that these fly below so many radars as they are beautifully made from premium materials and have a hugely enjoyable sound signature. Not neutral or flat but hugely enjoyable and they are very receptive to EQ. Their build quality shames most other headphones. And you can find some excellent offers on them now.

I own a pair of Denon AHD2000s if anyone has them and these 7200 what's the difference? One thing I'm not enthusiastic about the 2000s is the highs (I find them a little bit too shrill if that's the word), the bass and sub bass are really nice and although the mids are not spectacular they aren't really bad. Can someone give me some pointers on the difference between those two cans?

I’d love to know how these Denons compare to the Focal headphones. The opens AND the new closed backs Elegia and Stellia. Those FOCALS are DYNAMIC. I have the Elear and it replaces the Fostex TH-X00 that I sold. .....which for me were suppose to be an ultra premium headphone. I was very underwhelmed with the build quality first and not all that thrilled with the sound signature.

I've been using the d7200 for about two years and I found the vocal on 7200 sounds pretty harshy at times, even unbearable when watching some youtube video with a lot of talking recorded by certain mics, and the headband just looks so weird when it's on the head, almost 'squarish'. I love the sound for the most part tho.

I bought these headphones just before christmas. I have left them running for days now for burn in. I can really hear a difference in the sound after 75+ hours of playing. They are really starting to come alive. The sound was good out of the box. Maybe a bit muffled sound. That is all gone now. The sound is amazing. Clear, distinct, pretty open sound with great punch in the base. Out of the box I thought the base took over and overshadowed the vocals, but that's all gone now. These headphones really need a good burn in period. I'm looking forward to hear what they bring after 200+ hours of burn in. I've tried them hooked up to my Macbook Pro 14 inch and they sound good but when hooked up to a headphone amp - my god - night and day. You really need a headphone amp to make these headphones justice. Silk Sonic is a great album for showing off the 7200. I'm using the Bluesound Node paired with the Pro-Ject Head Box S2 headphone amp. I'm a happy customer. 545 dollars/518€ including tax in Sweden. Update: I am now using the Ifi Hip Dac 3 headphone amp and now they sound even better!!! AMAZING SOUND!

I was lucky. I paid 550euro for the D7200. I don't mind the highs, because these are fun and relaxing sounding. I don't find the Denon warm sounding. My Stax SR5 are warm sounding, my Sennheisser HD558 is warmer and my Nighthawks are even more. The soundstage for me is pretty wide, like shoulder to shoulder. And the imaging is very good. Enough has been said about the bass performance. I really like these Denon with Florence and the Machine High as Hope, Opera, classical, The Weeknd, Interstellar ost, The Prodigy. These D7200 are highend. With one recording ( opera) there are two male vocals (right ear and left ear), I could hear the the void...a space in the recording around the voices. I was listening in the store and it was like I was in a small invisible room with two singers. That was impressive. With The Prodigy Skyline a sample of waves in the sea is used. It's a very high recording. It sounded like I was in the sea with my shoulder at sea level, the waves entering on ear and exiting my other ear. It sounded so crisp and real. I use the Rupert Neve headamp RNHP to drive the D7200. Is use HRT musicstreamer III

The T5p is great, it is more neutral and has higher resolving trebles. But it does have a (for me) pretty annoying mid bass bump and not so much deep bass like the 7200. If you prefer darker signatures, the 7200 is probably better for you, if you prefer brighter ones, go for the T5p. Or the Denon 9200. Forget about the P9, it's a really bad headphone. It's smaller sibling P7 is much better for far less money.

The M50X became untouchable after Marques Brownlee ditched his Beats and sang the AT’s praises. It sounds ok at the 100$ price point, but something like the DT770 is far superior for just a touch more. In any case I find it strange that anyone (except bank accounts) would prefer the AT’s before the Denon’s.
