Dennis Rodman's 6 Secrets To Rebounding (Breakdown)
Спорт
Learn how to rebound like Dennis Rodman, with these 6 secrets that won him 7 NBA rebounding titles!
Dennis Rodman is widely regarded as the greatest rebounder of all time, but HOW did he clean the glass so effectively? He played in an era of the NBA where big-men dominated, but he’s not as tall as his rebounding figures might suggest. The Worm was undersized, standing at just 6ft6, the same height as his shooting guard teammate Michael Jordan, but he would routinely be tasked with guarding some of the toughest giants the league has ever seen.
So how did he battle amongst the giants to grab all of those boards? Find out with these secrets to his success! Mo breaks down Rodman's rebounding technique, the methods he used to crash the boards, and how you can improve your rebounding.

This info is priceless! I was 14 when Rodman came to the Bulls & watched him more than any other player. I couldn't do what MJ did but I can replicate Rodman who's always battling guys taller & bigger than him. I used all these techniques as a 5'6" teenager & was able to get rebounds over guys 5'10"- 6'0".

It was something else! I wrote a essay on him when I was n the 4th grade. The Worm is special
I caught an interview with Grant Hill from after he had retired. As a teen, he and some cronies got to visit the Piston's locker room after a Piston's game. Rodman had played 40 plus minutes, but he was on a stationary bike putting in his 2 hours of carido after laying it all out on the floor. The other part of that interview was that as Rodman was working out he was engage with those young players and he's the Piston that asked them to come hang out with him at his place and play video games. Dennis Rodman acted out in a weird way to the rest of the world, but inside it appears he was a really decent person.
this guy is literally a 1 in a billion player, i can't imagine players playing like this in modern basketball
Rodman was not born the best, he became the best due to his discipline, physical attributes, cardio and will power. Best defensive player I have ever seen hands down.

With this new era of the basketball, big men aren't nearly concerned at grabbing boards than they are at scoring or defense, like many old heads say, rebounds is becoming a lost art. I'd say Rodman could possibly grab even more rebounds than he did in the 90s with how much effort he put into it.
@RafsanS15
2 жыл бұрын
maybe this was the reason why his Spurs lost against Rockets at 95 WCF. He prefers to stay at his lane instead nullifying Horry ability to stretch the floor
@cloudmoore2834
Жыл бұрын
Maybe he would grab more boards, if he could get a job. Number 1 he can’t shoot and nowadays not shooting is a big problem because spacing is a big thing now. So you can’t be just trying to get position for rebounds because now you’re clogging driving lanes and making the paint more congested in general. Rodman would have to sit in the corner and run in for rebounds whilst cutting. And if he didn’t get the rebound teams are now faster than ever in transition and he’d be stuck in a bad spot. Probably leading to a transition 3.

Good video. I didn't expect to learn anything to help my rebounding, but I did. That's crazy that he thought about how many times the ball spinned before the shot would hit the rim - I never even thought of trying to figure that out. Rodman was such a Zen master.

This is helped me a lot, as an undersized player myself, its hard going against bigger opposition. Elgin Baylor was very similar; his first jump was high but then he "bounced"; hardly bending his knees. He also took shots that put the opponents out of position then tip in the offensive rebound. He was stronger than Rodman. He never led the league in rebounding but was 3rd or 4th.

you're most welcome, we've got plenty more breakdowns on the way!
Mind Games is definitely #1 If you can get into your opposites' head, it doesn't matter if he can shoot 3's at will in training. If he's more worried about where you are and what you are doing, he won't shoot anywhere near his best. Same goes for rebounds. If you psych someone out by firing them up so they want to take you out of the game rather than get the rebound, or they are worried about getting hit by you during a rebound contest they won't challenge every time. Leaving you with more chances to cleanly steal the rebound. Or just wait out their temper for them to get fouled out of the game.

Excellent and informative video, about Rodman who was one of the most talented and persistent and aggressive players we have seen. And he was hilarious and entertaining, The Beast. I remember watching Chicago Bulls championship playoff series where Rodman would challenge players and look like he was about to get in a fight; Jordan would run up to him from behind, wrap his arms around Rodman’s body and yank him away from the confrontation; and Rodman would be laughing his hiney off at the situation. Awesome 😂😂 🏆🏆

When I was in school and played I was 5'10" I was good at jumping. Guard was my position. I was bad about getting beside them let em grab the ball in the air and while they start to come down jump forward and inside then hook the ball take it away from em. My Forward knew what I was doing and get to 3 pt. line. I'd spin on my inside foot pass. Part of the time my elbow would get the other guy in the jaw and the ref would never see it.

My takeaways from this video: - Rebounds are an effort stat; the more want and effort, the more rebounds - Use film to study where rebounds will go from what type of shots and misses - Athleticism is key, specifically cardio and jumping, especially second and third jumps without a maximal approach - As an undersized player, use little taps to move the ball to a more accessible place to secure the rebound. - Judo, or preventing the opponent from moving, and using agility to gain a quickness advantage (this is a risky one, since it is a foul) - Try using mind games to gain a psychological advantage; bait the opponent into focusing more on yourself than on rebounding and playing the game.
really helped

That's probably why they got along. Jackson brought it together but when Rodman and Jordan had to work without Pippen, they realized they both had the drive. Jordan needed any competitive edge to get him to that level slight (real or imaginary) while Rodman was all about the body language, angles, game film he was that other dimension. Pippen was the balance between the two good cop to Jordan's bad cop (which threw off opponents when he "broke character") and a great defender (10 time all-defence first team one more than Jordan and 2 more the Rodman). That trio, in the second 3-peat were unstoppable.
Rodman was a dirty playing genius with his elbows out rebounds! Rodman drills make u about to catch much better I modelled my game on him plus Kukoć for 3 pointers If I wasn’t rebounding I was under the other hoop like a lightening bolt for the fast break For me Rodman was me of the greatest players ever
