"Tired of crack, try driving cross-country with Kramer and the guy from Shine!" That was a great ending to this rant.

A very intelligent funny man. Sometimes a bit too snarky but has always kept me on my toes with his vague references that I get 98% of the time. What took him from left of center to right of center was 9/11/01. That is a fact. He made fun of the right before that. Now he makes fun of the left. Whatever side he was on, he was always insightful. I miss his radio show.

+squitzy I love his dry sardonic wit whether I agree with his position or not. I can remember watching Dennis Miller Live with friends and I'd be rolling around laughing and they'd be looking at me with 'what's so funny' expressions. Sorry. I had dumb friends. :)

It wasn't 9/11. It was the insane public reaction to a remark he made ABOUT 9/11. It was virulent and extreme. He couldn't get work after that except at Fox. What happened to Al Franken reminded strongly of what happened to Miller. Had the reaction not been so extreme, he might have weathered it and stayed more or less on the sanity side. As it is, he defected, and honestly I don't really blame him for basically telling everyone yelling at him to fuck off. It's just sad he didn't have the moral fiber to just get out of show business instead of going over to the dark side.

Wow anyone here actually listen to his interviews? It wasn’t 9-11 that caused him to come out on the right. He’s always been fiscally conservative and socially liberal. He says it. He also said he opened up more on being conservative when Admiral Stockdale was running to be Vice President with, Bob Dole maybe?, and the left jumped on him being old and attacked him mercilessly. That is what pissed him off and that is the reason. Btw he rips on everyone not just the right or the left always has. Go back and listen to any of these rants or any of his shows, same all the way through. Love his comedy.

The real reason for that is that prominent comics found new podiums, with the cable news age. They are entertainers, nothing more. They go with the niche that accepts their schtick. Sure - they may be somewhat politically informed and, in Miller's case, very formidably spoken - but the bottom line is that they're out there doing their act on a very different stage, and shaping their act for that stage. Nothing more. He also was (briefly) a color man for the NFL...if that worked out, same story.

If you don't even know what rant means, why are you even bothering trying to watch Dennis Miller? You need an encyclopedia to look up all his references! Maybe try Larry the Cable guy, he might be more your speed.

Dude, that's completely unfair. These rants are from the 90's. Most of the references would go straight over the heads of anyone who wasn't around back then. Hell, I was born in the 60's and there are references in his comedy that I don't get.

So essentially, you didn't think MIller was funny, only the view point was funny. Because I see him now and its the same style, just shot from the right.
