Demonstration of a Reversible Reaction

Hydrated copper(ii) sulfate is blue. When heated strongly, this thermally decomposes to produce anhydrous copper(ii) sulfate, which is white. This reaction can be reversed by adding water to anhydrous copper(ii) sulfate. This will also occur naturally if anhydrous copper(ii) sulfate is left to stand and absorb water from the surrounding air.
