This is such an informative video on the effects of categorizing people into different ethnic and racial groups by their skin tone or physical appearance. The racial hierarchy benefits some at the cost of others. The racial hierarchy makes it harder for African Americans and Latinos to have access to affordable education. This also leads to the cycle of African Americans and Latino to live in lower income neighborhoods and attend public school which is under funded by the government compared to charter and private schools.

You're absolutely right. I think what she was trying to say was the way "Hispanics" are classified in the US (which I can't stand), compared to how we're viewed in Latin America. In Latin America they use words like "Mestizo", "Mulato", "Zambo", etc. Whereas in the US, they just clump us all into the same category. Fix the Census 2020!!!

@Dr. Evil They are just human like everyone else on the planet. Humans right now are rapidly adapting due to being a global population to resist disease and all kinds of food and environments. Certain populations have differing frequencies of specific gene expressions ad that is what's causing problems. Most European diaspora people don't possess sickle cell trait which grants resistance to malaria strains. So in nation's with a majority of only one set of humans there medical care is narrowed down to be tailored to the majority such as the U.S.

@@hainleysimpson1507 'Yet'. Discoveries in DNA are constantly being made. What I get from other posts of yours here is that you don't believe 'race' exists. You are arguing (in quite an ad hominem way I might say) over the use and meaning of the _word_ race. Such an argument is semantic - who are you to say what the definition of a word should mean. Even if your definition was dominant in English usage (which I would contend) that would still not change the facts of the matter. Humans are part of nature just as all other life forms studied in natural history. The word race is used, understood and accepted by natural historians around the planet and is classified in taxonomic nomenclature. You cannot change that; your argument is one of quantity but not principle.. you are arguing over words and not facts. Humans as a species have a gene pool which goes back how far.. 10,000 generations? That would depend on what you define as _Homo sapiens_ . Plenty of time for genetic variation. So why is it 'certain' groups in academia have no problem with the term race.. until referenced to humans? I talk of course about social anthropologists. I hazard a guess that may be because of the social problems that are associated with the very real physical, chemical, morphological, structural (etc.) differences between peoples _that act as social markers_ .. and the perceptions people have about the different peoples; in other words 'racism'. Changing the meaning of the word race will do nothing to prevent that. A turd by another name smells as bad.. I prefer the classic 'A rose by another name smells as sweet'.

It's not a myth.. Equal opportunity does not mean equal results. We are all from different backgrounds and have different capacities. As a result we will all reach different places. The point is we all have the same opportunities to grow. Whether we choose to take them or are capable of taking them is a different story. The whole point is we are free to make something of ourselves. If equality meant we all ended up in the same place no matter what we were capable of, or even our desires in life, then what room for growth or opportunity for growth does that leave for anyone. I don't normally comment but this video ,while it had SOME good information, was very poorly thought out.

Agreed. The talking points in this video are typical of SJWs who think that unequal outcomes must be caused by unequal opportunity. They believe personal choice and cultural effects have very little effect on outcomes. Little do they know how much of an advantage people who are able to use Affirmative Action to their benefit are. Affirmative Action makes it SIGNIFICANTLY easier to be accepted to higher educational institutions such as med school, and this is based on NOTHING but race alone. Luckily, the past 2 times it has been brought up to the supreme court, the court has ruled that Affirmative Action is unconstitutional. Hopefully it will be abolished within the next 10 years.

"Race" is the GENETIC ONLY defining quality of some subspecies. "Ethnicity" is a BELIEF in some combined CULTURAL and GENETIC association. There is no actual utility to the word, ethnicity, if it were only merely cultural, as this video is claiming. The reality is that many groups who define their group from within OR from without are those who tend to irrationally believe that there is an actual link to some 'ownership' to a distinct set of beliefs (a culture) based on that group. Often, the politics attempt NOT to remove segregate ethnic beliefs but to impose upon the rest of society to accept some STEREOTYPE that they PREFER but demand the negative ones as false. The problem is that you cannot accept the positive without the negative. The reality is that ANY ethnic definition is extremely discriminatory because those supporting these views (often on BOTH political extremes) actually agree to the faulty logic that some specific group OWNS a distinct set of behaviors. For instance, if you believe that our North American Natives justly OWN a 'right' to tobacco as a functioning part of their ancestor's culture, you are adapting a favored stereotype. While one is welcome to such a personal view, it is discriminatory IF you demand some special privileged law that preserves (conserves) such a stereotype in the name of ones' culture. Culture is 'art', not some genetic factor. Similarly, the negative stereotypes are obviously equally your right to hold; but if some LAW is imposed to discriminate against them, this is where the proof of how such thinking is severely flawed. ANY stereotype regarding creating laws to FAVOR some group implies that only 'favorable' views should be imposed with neglect to the unFAVORED views. We need to wise up and abandon laws that treat art or cultural views within law. Your American first amendment likely recognized this (regarding a major cultural factor, "religion"). This amendment should be amended to be much stricter to include no laws regarding culture nor ethnicity. Neither political extremes want this though. I live in Canada and am witnessing how our country is leading in attempting to enhance rather than defeat such stereotyping through our Constitution. It is one that installs a right of government to impose religious and/or cultural laws FOR specific groups. This still enables governments to also make laws AGAINST such groups. I'm totally disgusted with this mentality from all political persuasions. The only reason for such continued empowerment of this mental illness is that believers of ingroup ethnicities always have more power (as a strong religious-thinking 'cult') to finance the right for those PRESENTLY in power to their stereotype and the left for any other cult that is presently less empowered. But all you cults are destroying this world. The vast majority of people don't identify with any specific group but are being forced to take the political side which LEAST discriminates against them rather than to the ideals that those sides originally hold. The parties within all governments are being held hostage by the derangement of either the majority cult or the SET of all minority cults. For those on the left supporting Multicultural lawmaking, you are precisely dishonest because you are actually COLLECTIVE CONSERVATIVES. You only agree in the present to shake hands and feign agreement between the other minority cults IF and UNTIL you are sufficiently wealthy and powerful enough to replace the right-wing conservatives in present power.
