Less partisan stuff than you. Yes he has been mildly decrepit but generally good if not watching partisan content. You are clearly too young to remember how frail and old Reagan looked. He was worse but history remembers him as one of the greats. If Biden bows out now and the next candidate beats Trump then Biden's legacy will be to be remembered as one of the greats as well. That's how things work. At the time I thought Reagan was a terrible president but these days he looks pretty good in the rear view mirror.

I was the most prolific democrat. A democrat princess in a long line of them! My dad helped shape these policies, I peddled them. We ran non-profits for immigrants. I went right, I'm actually happy here. Maybe I won't stay here, I was all for Bernie but I now think if we get rid of these baby boomer policies that had no end date, they never had goals considering a changing world, and changing needs (I'm an RN and activist in Minneapolis!) this would be best. We all change, and we change along a linear timeline aside from how the community and larger world changes. Medicare is toxic. It's two competing forces with the nurse and her patient stuck between them. Hospital corporations try to maximize profits from Medicare, doing crazy things to enrich themselves - at the same time the bureaucrat is hopelessly unable to address it. They change rules every few weeks - there is NO WAY this is reasonable. My patients are dying, frankly, and it's alarming. All democrat policies matured like this. I tried and tried to address it. We need a reset. An entire reset. Break it down to the fundamental constitution. Fun fact: I am a descendent of Thomas Jefferson. So, I have a radically different outlook from others, I think. I will make ANY way work because of my oath and I fight every day for the good of all. Be well.

Biden is the first president in my lifetime where I can honestly say my life as far as finances, safety, freedom Has gotten substantially worse while he has been in office. I’ve seen this country turn into a degenerate nightmare where everything is priced out of the reach of anyone making less than $50k a year

A lot of incumbent presidents have bad first debates. The debate stage is a very different place from a lot of the work they do. Reagan in 1984 and Obama in 2012 come to mind. It's not the amount of time you prepare, it's how you prepare. If there is a second debate, it would be good for Joe Biden to take a nap in the middle of the day. Then he'll be fine.

One of my hobbies is politics and I had many leads that were telling me that Obama knew of Biden's decline even when he was Vice President. His judgement on things is off kilter and is detectable if you watch him.

All of them have staffs to prepare them, but when he got lost it was like he was in mud. I am very critical of the ability to speak off the cuff with good information. He just did not seem to have it even then. But you are right - major drop off a few years ago.

I have voted Democrat my entire life. I am stunned by the alternative universe that the DNC has locked itself into - and there is no way I can vote for Biden in November. What if he’s anything like that at 3 am when “the phone call” comes? Moreover, by his very choice to stay in, it’s clear that he is prioritizing his ego over the well being of the American people. His mental decline, but perhaps even more so, his decision not to step down because of it demonstrating that his prioritization is no longer morally valid, it’s impossible for me to support him now. I’ll just stay home.

Anyone who votes a party or person and not policy is doomed. Trump’s policies were excellent even given the headwind of constant bashing by the media and the political machine that constantly manufactured lie after lie. The sham trial we just witnessed was horrible, as was Russia, Russia, Russia, Charlottesville, pictures of illegals is cages (that were taken during Obama era) and so on. Not saying I am crazy about Trump, but I’ll take his performance in the Whitehouse any day.

Just look back at Joe Biden campaigning and debating in 2020 and compare it to 2024. The difference is shocking. My dad is 88 and is much healthier than the president mentally and physically.

The news was not that he has declined, but that the media had not informed the country that he had declined. Many of us already knew. He actually did better than I thought he would.

This must have been the plan all along. Everybody was fine a month ago when he was too decrepit to stand trial for his crimes. What changed?
