Demo And Features Of Our Maytag MVW6200KW 5.5 Cu. Ft. Washer

Ойын-сауық

In case you missed it I recently recorded a video about having to replace our washing machine. I have added the link below in case you want to catch up on the washer saga.
Replacing A Washer Under A Lemon Warranty During A Pandemic
• Replacing A Washer Und...
In this video, I am pleased to share with you the features and demonstration of our new Maytag MVW6200KW 5.5 Cu. Ft. washer that was provided as a replacement for our third and final warranty claim on our GE 4.9 cu. ft. washer - Model GTW485BMMWS.
This video is a little longer than usual but I hope you bear with me and watch all the way to the end as I run a load of laundry through to explain the features and give you samples of how it sounds and works while cleaning your clothes. So far I am impressed with this new washer but will reserve judgement for now until I see how it holds up over time. Stay tuned for a review of this unit once I have had some time to use it and check out all the different features.

    You have no idea how pleased I am to see your video! I went to Lowe's with a 4.2 cu. ft Maytag in mind but after many questions to the salesman and discussion with my husband, I selected the Maytag MVW6200KW 4.8 cu. ft. model. It has the same program board and the impeller instead of an agitator. It operates just like yours but is a little smaller tub. I was concerned that I made a poor choice but after watching your video review and reading some of the comments, I am relieved and looking forward to it's delivery. Since Lowe's had such good price incentives, we purchased the 5 yr protection plan also. Excellent video Susan. Thank you. And a big shout out to our Fairlawn, Ohio Lowe's salesperson, Dan. Your knowledge of the machines was especially helpful!

    I chose to watch this video because my husband and I bought the washer and dryer a week ago, and I wanted to watch a video to make sure I was operating it correctly. Your video confirmed I was. However, the washer was very noisy. For some reason the water would not drain from the wash cycle, and the washer after timing the dryer it kept stopping. We contacted Loews where we purchased it, and they said they would replace it. I was disappointed because Maytag has a great reputation. We had a Samsung washer and dryer, and it was horrible. I repair man would not even fix anymore. He advised us to buy new.

    Thanks for sharing. Just an FYI. i purchased a Maytag washer model MVWB765FW3 less than two years ago which is now being replaced under my extended warranty at PC Richards. The washer was deemed unrepairable because parts were unavailable due to COVID. It was never loaded even close to its capacity and the gearbox/transmission became gradually louder and louder over the course of ownership. Whats crazy is no matter what size the tub is, the gearbox/transmission is virtually the same in many of these washers regardless of brand. They are essentially loaded with plastic parts that wear out prematurely. Unfortunately washers today don’t hold up like they use to and we now live in a “replacement” market. It just sad one spends close to $1000 dollars on these appliances and the have very little shelf life.

  • @SusanMillard

    @SusanMillard

    Hi, thanks for watching. I totally agree with you about the replacement society we live in. Our previous laundry set was used heavily and worked for 14 years. They were replaced by a GE set and the washer only lasted a little over a year before it was replaced under lemon warranty with this Maytag. The more electronic fancy do dads on the control panel and plastic parts that wear out prematurely sure do cheapen the quality. It is a shame - I would rather repair than replace at the prices you find these days. If the companies insist on spewing out these cheap machines then I think the prices should come way down to reflect that. Thanks again for your comment and your viewpoint. :)

    We bought a brand new Maytag 6 months ago and it doesn't have all the digital things these video show. It's a terrible machine and even set to deep water wash only puts 3 inches of water in the machine and there's a foot of laundry that's damp sticking above the water level. This machine is pitiful adding 5 gallon buckets of water by hand is tiresome it still doesn't completely solve the problem. 7 months into ownership and they already want to start racking up a repair bill. This is pitiful, dishonest, shameful and may I repeat pitiful !

I agree, it does seem to get the clothes really clean. I'm sure hoping it gives us many years of service and no problems. Glad it was helpful! Purchasing an extended warranty is a great idea. We have a two year extended warranty on this washer to match when our dryer warranty runs out. Sorry to hear you have trouble with your machine. I have not had many unbalanced issues with our machine yet. Is it under warranty? I would suggest maybe something's not quite right with the way it balances. Is it on a level floor? I would imagine that might interfere with balance if it is not level. Still enjoying my washer and have not had any issues since we bought it after almost a year (in May it will be a year). Hope these ideas lead you to a solution for the issues with your Maytag. Thanks, Susan. The printed directions included with the washer were very confusing and left out clear step by step directions. This was most helpful to watch you actually go through the process. My model has a fill button inside the drum by the fill drawer. I am still unclear exactly how to use that feature.

  • @SusanMillard

    @SusanMillard

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you Robbie, for watching and leaving me such a beautiful compliment.If I understand the fill button you refer to, mine doesn’t have one, from things I have heard from others- that fill button is used when you wish to soak clothes without triggering a cycle yet. So you would add the soaking agent (vinegar/bleach/other cleaner) then use the fill button and add your clothes. Again, I don’t have that button so this is based on what I have heard. I hope that helps. Once soaking is done just activate the drain/spin cycle then wash according to the proper cycle. 😊👍🏻

  • @SusanMillard

    @SusanMillard

    Thanks for watching and for your question. The bleach goes in the corner port when you are loading the machine. You add your detergent and liquid softener if you use that in the drawer at the back of the tub and add the bleach in the corner close the lid and set your program and push go. The machine will release the bleach in with the water as it fills. Hope that helps.😁

    Hi, thanks for watching and for your question. I am not sure why your washer would not switch over to the spin/rinse cycle if it is affecting all cycles I can only think there may be a problem in the computer board that gives instructions to your washer. Maybe having a repairman come in to at least test it would help. That must be so frustrating. Sorry to hear about your troubles. It sounds to be like you are going about it logically knowing that you have checked on all cycles, made sure the hoses are unkinked...I wish you luck. Sorry I couldn't help more. 🤓

    Hi, thanks for watching and for your excellent question (and one I get often). I don't always let it sense the load to add what it considers enough water. If the load is getting bigger I will just go ahead and set the water level to medium or high. That way I don't run into the not even getting wet issue. A small load is fine to sense for water but anything a little bigger means I just set it myself. Just because it CAN sense the load and add what it considers enough water doesn't mean it should! 😉Hope this helps.

    Thanks for watching and for the great question. The levels of the wash and rinse water depends on the setting type I believe everything except the Quick Wash all allow for the water level to be set to maximum. Quick wash is just that quick so the drum spins while water is pumped in and goes through the clothes and drains. For all the other settings you can manually choose the water level to vary it from the preset levels and temperatures. Hope this helps. 😊

    Hello Susan- Thanks for the video. I purchased this machine and have been enjoying it. I am needing to do a presoak and I can't figure out how to fill the tub with water without running an actual cycle. Some models have an interior water faucet button, but I can't find one on this machine. I am unable to speak with an actual person at Maytag to ask this question. Do you know if it's possible to fill the tub with water so I can soak my clothing in vinegar water? Thanks so much, Jennifer

  • @SusanMillard

    @SusanMillard

    2 жыл бұрын

    Ok, thanks for the question Jennifer. All I can think of doing is to start it up as if it is an actual cycle, set the water level to high and add your vinegar water instead of detergent. When the tub is full of water shut it off and soak your clothes for the time you want. When ready to wash simply switch to drain and spin. Once water is emptied out shut it off then turn on again to set a wash cycle of your choice and add detergent etc. Just an idea, hope it helps.

    Just got my washer yesterday and the weird thing it is doing is that the detergent/softener dispenser keeps sliding open during the wash cycle. I don't know if it is supposed to do that or not. Hi, thanks for watching and for your question. It sounds like your detergent/softener dispenser is not fitted into the tracks correctly and is loose enough to slide open during the wash cycle. It should clip into a set of tracks on both sides and only come out when you press the release lever to take it out to clean it. Mine has never done what you are describing. Hope this helps sort out your problem.

Start of adding your detergent and softener and start of with the bulky cycle because it's gonna start your water level on High automatically.. Select Normal cycle. .then select your temp..hot or cold or warm...then hit start and watch the four lights at the top goes across and you will see the lock signal on and it's going to start your 1hour long cycle. 30min for Quick wash and 1hr for Normal cycle. I will probably always use the bulky cycle in my household because I always have alot of clothes to wash...lol

  • @PilotVBall
    @PilotVBall2 жыл бұрын

    Mine was delivered two weeks ago. I got it with the agitator although switching to the impeller just requires removing the agitator stem. I am not completely impressed. The capacity is huge but it doesn't allow for that much to be put in it. It lacks power to wash all clothes properly. Sheets will stay put and not move. The detergent dispenser lacks the capacity to properly store detergent to wash a full load. Test this by opening the washer and rubbing your fingers in the water. If the rubbing doesn't feel soapy then there's not enough detergent. Maytag designers obviously don't do their own laundry.

  • @SusanMillard

    @SusanMillard

    2 жыл бұрын

    I have the opposite experience with my Maytag. I find the capacity to be more than adequate and that is does clean clothes thoroughly. I have used mine long enough now to know that I can do a rather large load and it still moves the clothes around to get to them all during the course of one cycle. Loading these machines requires a different loading technique you drop the items in evenly around the centre. The agitator system requires that you drape the clothes around the agitator. These are also High Energy Efficient machines and do not require a detergent that suds up in order to clean the clothes. The detergent dispenser does have the capacity to store enough detergent if you are using the correct detergent type. My washer is only used with liquid detergent as this reduces buildup in pipes and hoses as well as wear and tear on the fabric of clothes that powdered detergent tends to amass. Thanks for your comment and for watching but I think perhaps you may have gotten a defective washer - which is totally possible in today's mass production society.

And will the washing machine fill up with enough water or does the detergent stay on top of the clothes? I’m wondering if I should cancel the washing machine and stick to my good old faithful old machine, while it still works. And maybe only replace the dryer, since that’s my real reason for replacing it.

    Are these top loaders also available with heating rods. I've always wanted a US top loader. Maytag has an online shop in Germany. I see that you Americans all have cold water and hot water connections. In Europe we only have cold water and our front loaders heat the water to the desired temperature and maintain that temperature. 68°F, 86°F, 140°F, 194°F Because of the chaotic government in Germany and the rising gas and electricity prices, I'm considering that my next washing machine will be a US top-loader, so I heat the water in large pots on the stove and pour it into the top-loader. But these US top loaders should have heating elements, at least to keep the temperature. I would be happy if you could give me information about this. Greetings from Germany.
