They were given testicles of a bull, which is something they eat in Denver, and another name for testicles can also be nut. So when Kelly said "Sometimes you feel like a nut, and sometimes you don't" it was referring to Simon eating the testicles.

@Usama Fayyaz nope. She could've said he's unfit for the entertainment industry, because yes, it's about the voice, but likability-factor is important as well. If the public doesn't like his personality because he's a jackass, he'll have a hard time selling records, no matter how good his voice is. And Cheryl Cole for example didn't vote 'yes' for a contestant (forgot the name, but that contestant later wrote songs for Vampire diaries etc) because she disliked her. So yes, she deserves a salute because she didn't let her personal feelings change her professionalism. And keep in mind that she was only 19 at that time.

Almond joy has nuts... mounds don’t.” But here they were talking about Rocky Mountain Oysters which are deep fried bulls testicles and the girls wouldn’t eat them. So the lady on the right said the first line of the jingle... “sometimes you feel like a nut”.
