I feel like this is the secret way these games prey on nostalgia in such a wonderful way. You play through the whole game, and your brain notices these similarities but you don't, then you get to the end and BAM, you hear the song from the heart of the soundtrack. You feel like you've heard it before but can't place where rocks you to your core.

Something that strikes me about The World Revolving is the fact that the use of Don't Forget is just that "I'm with you in the dark" melody over and over again. And when I think of it, it does sound like a descent into madness. More than usual, anyway. I'm with you in the dark. I'm with you in the dark. _I'm with you in the dark. I'm with you in the dark. First of all, nice observation, I've also noticed that and came to the conclusion that, Jevil is obsessing over the fact that he's never alone, there's always someone with him in the dark, the one who told him the truth, specifically. Or maybe not, I have made many theories about that. And secondly, GHOST FAN DETECTED, INSPECTION RESULTS SHOW YOU'RE BASED.

If you really think about it, "I'm with you in the dark" sounds like lullaby sang to a kid who's afraid of darkness...... AKA most kids. So Don't Forget might actually be Asriel's lullaby, before he went to college.

Bruh, I'm good with your theories but it's got to be Chara because the singer of Don't Forget is a Female. Because she is a Lighnter who was killed but she remains in the dark, possibly when Chara was still alive she sang this to Asriel, but that could've been already proven false because, let's say this is a Neutral Run, you die after a neutral run but some boss monsters will still remain, but since all of the boss monsters are there, it was a Pacifist Run, meaning Frisk should've been there, so this theory is false, but it would've been if the protagonist was Frisk not Kris.

I wonder if Don't Forget is Kris's leitmotif, similar to how in Undertale Once Upon a Time could be interpreted as Chara/Frisk's leitmotif.

@@JellyMyst WARNING: SPOILERS FOR DELTARUNE CHAPTER 2 oooo.... i mean it kind of does sound sinister putting it that way, but who knows it could be something less sinister? Don't get me wrong it's an interesting theory, you could allude the lyrics of Don't Forget to Kris or it could be something reassuring? Like I'm with you even when things seem dark kinda thing? Interesting way to interpret it. I also think the lyrics "and the places that you know *seem* like fantasy" it implies that it seems like something unreal but in fact it very much is real? Or it could just mean the Darkworlds in "places that you know" such as school, the library and perhaps your own home in the next chapter. There are many ways to interpret these lyrics and I think it's genius because the way in which you go about playing Deltarune could possibly change the way you perceive everything, even though it stays the same. ahhh rant over, thanks for reading.

You might think about it as copying, but, as I see it, it is actually a good way to write music that make sense in the terms of your product. (Also, sorry if my english is not the best)

I think the reason why there's a leimotif this obvious in Jevil's theme is because this whole fight proves that you are the Heroes from the legend. Atleast Seam says it.

I don't know if it's just me but Don't forget motif in The World Revolving suddenly makes the entire song so much more poignant. It just seems like a fun song at the beginning and then the motif shows up and you feel like there's something much deeper into Jevil's madness.

And after speaking to the Clam Girl in Undertale, going back to behind San's house in his locked room there's a photo he keeps with "three smiling people" with "DON'T FORGET" scrawled across it. That, plus the bunny shopkeeper saying the brothers "just showed up one day". Sans during genocide in his fight saying "I gave up trying to go back years ago" and then /later/ says "and going to the surface doesn't appeal to me either anymore" like they're separate things. Add on that in the recent newsletter, Papyrus is asked about his past or something like that, he says there's grass and before saying more gets cut off by Sans. I think this all gives loads of hints towards DT sans not just being UT sans, but DT happening beforehand and Sans having to move to the UT universe somehow! But that's just a theory, no true confirmation. But so much is there that makes it oh so mysterious! Not to mention the more tenuous, potential Gaster links, strange machine in the same place the Don't Forget photo is in, and the lady that triggers that change to the more descriptive photo, tells you that the time you'll meet her friend "Suzy" is "Fast Approaching" before she goes grey and disappears like other goners. The last bit is only in the Switch version which came out not too long before Deltarune Ch1.

I like the addition of a leitmotif from the Pacifist Epilogue to "Beginning" to give you that nostalgia of Undertale's ending, as you hop from it to the next.

Here after playing chapter 2, this little sequence of notes just feels so emotional

I don’t know why, but “Beginning” always strikes me with a feeling I can’t describe. A feeling like joy, nostalgia and the feeling of a new world and adventure mixed as one feeling.

the "im with you in the dark" line can be good or bad on one hand it might be saying how the person will always be by your side or your being stalked by a serial killer

I'd say that in any other song, for example, Beginning or Field of Hopes and Dreams, that "I'm with you in the dark" means that a person would always be by your side, while in, for example, The World Revolving, it means you're being stalked.

When I heard "Don't forget" for the first time I LOVED the letimotif, it was something I'd come up with one day and fall in love with it.

Man, friendship just makes me feel so good. It's just such a wonderful feeling in the song, similar to Reunited in Undertale. You feel like you've done it, you've really completed your journey in the best way possible. Feels good man.

This gives me the same feeling as when I watched the entire series of Adventure Time, and the finalé of the show had the song they use in the credits. I can't hear it without tearing up. 🤭 But this, oh, this. This just makes me happy in a way I can't fully fathom.

The "You can always come home" song is interesting cause it has the "Don't Forget" leitmotif as well as the "Undertale" leitmotif

Holy crap the Scarlet Forest one is so sneaky. I only ever noticed the one at the very end but never the other ones..

I like how they use the credits theme as a motif for lots of the songs in the game adds replay value

The way Toby Fox can compose tons of songs that are all woven together is amazing

"Dont forget" have the same vibe as "Once upon a time" and "his theme"

I mean, yeah, it's safe to say that both Don't Forget and The Legend might be the game's main themes

Toby is good at planting emotions and motifs in his songs.

Weird how Chaos King just has Card Castle, Lancer and The Legend.

Why do i find the concept of kris becoming golden when don't forget plays funny

@@pogpogger9497 toriel and alphys applied to be teachers, asgore is a flower gardener, bratty and catty soon disliked each other, undyne is still a guard, just in another sense, gerson died, mettaton and the other ghosts are in the same house, sans is the owner of grillbys, papyrus turned into an introvert, asriel is alive, a teenager (and Frisk, possibly changing their name to Kris and matching the family stripes), and in college, Frisk (or kris) is also a teen and in a school, and there are probably other characters i forgot

The true version of the song is emotional and nostalgic that anyone can relate to it in a way Don’t forget I’m with you in the dark IT JUST PRICES THE SOUL

my favorite one is the one at the end of chapter 1 where ralsei says " dont forget, I'm with you in the dark" It's a heartwarming line

Yup.

Hearing the first bit of this made me realize the song’s inspired by One Summer’s Day from Spirited Away… no wonder it sounds so nostalgia inducing

"you can always come home" also has part of the "once upon a time" leitmotif from undertale im pretty sure its cool how music from undertale is used in deltarune

Until the remix in the intro, I never realized how much Deltarune sounds like the Spirited Away theme

It’s my theory that this leitmotif will come back in a big way during the climax of the full game when the heroes Start to win.

I was talking with my husband about how I'm suspicious of "Don't Forget" being more sinister than it seems and I was thinking because of how it's "i'm with you in the dark" relates to entry seventeen and I didn'T EVEN CONSIDER THAT THE SONG IS CALLED *"DON'T FORGET"* TOBY I NEED ANSWERS

I love how even in the Man on the Internet version of The World Revolving has some of the same lyrics as "Don't Forget" but kinda twisted.

I love this leitmotif so much, it brings me an overwhelming amount of nostalgia from when Chapter 1 first came out, so much was happening in my life during that time, unforgetable times, Deltarune will forever be an incredibly special game to me, same for Undertale, actually Undertale is more nostalgic and more special to me, but I love both games immensely from the bottom of my heart!
