Basically, most scientists think "Deltacron" isn't real, and is just a laboratory error by looking at the available evidence. It's still possible for two viral strains to recombine and create a new hybrid variant, and it's happened before - it just looks less likely in this case. Scientifically speaking and because it's still being investigated, I can't straight up say "Deltacron isn't real", but *right now* this is looking more likely than Deltacron being an actual new variant. It's a simple question with a not-so-simple answer, I'm afraid - but I hope that explains what we know now. Our understanding may change in the near future - that's the nature of science!
