Delta toolmaker surface grinder rebuild part 1 disassembly and cleaning

Taking off the table and saddle. Building a spanner wrench for the grinding wheel using original schematics. Making a new bushing and building up silicone bronze onto a worn out shaft. installing both bushing and shaft into the grinder.

    Next time if you have a chaf or a around pipe that you need to put silicon bronze on it lock it in the head of your lather put your lead on slow and weld in a circular motion you'll make it what is easier for you to weld and you'll have better controlled on the TIG welding

    Great job! I really appreciate your doing this series, because you're showing me that it won't be too crazy to do mine. As a fellow home hobbyist, I've been nervous to 🤣 At the risk of sounding ignorant, was it in fact easier to build up weld than to simply make a new shaft?

    so far it has not been too bad so hopefully you rebuild goes smooth as well. it was easier to build up on the old shaft because it has a key way cut into it along with a taper drilled hole for the gear. good luck with your rebuild

    you have no idea what you are doing. you should be keeping your tungston ground down to a point. I"m sure people will argue that you got it done but really this is not a video on how to use a heliarc torch and process.
