This sure works tons better than hitting the pump and cursing it. I fixed the pump exactly how you described and could not be happier. Wish I had tried to fix it many months ago when I simply assumed it needed to be replaced.

Thanks, this gave me the confidence to open up a non-working dispenser and from there able to replace a corroded ball bearing seal taken from plain plastic pump and put it into the fancy looking pump that came with a pervious faucet.

I never could have figured out how to take the pump apart. I did everything you suggested to repair my Delta Soap dispenser. However, it still would not work. It kept jamming and extremely difficult to get the shaft to return to the top. I had to use a spoon the pry the shaft up. I took it apart for the 3rd time trying to figure out what was happening. I had discovered the rubber O ring that is in the groove on the shaft was stretched and was super loose on the shaft. I figured out it was probably rolling in the groove and jamming the shaft. Went to the hardware store and got the correct size O ring for 60 cents and it works as new. The size of the new O ring is 7/16 X 9/16. I might suggest that one gets a new O ring and replace the old one when the pump in disassemble. Delta does sell just the replacement pump for about $10.

Ty for this video, I was about to toss the dispenser or take a hammer to it. Just couldn't see the split line on the plastic until your video pointed it out. Works great now and saved $15 for a replacement. One thing, putting the top section back on is a very tight fit, I couldn't get it in by pushing. I took a 13mm deep well socket that seated and fit perfectly over the top and gave it a tap with a hammer and down it went.

Thank you!! Very instructive and useful. You revealed the tricky bit where the knife was required (I would never have found it). Even though there was suction in the pump section, mine didn't work immediately afterwards until I primed the pipe and pump with water, whereupon it now pumps like a sailor on shore leave. Also, mine had built up (maybe mineral) deposits such that the orifice in the head was reduced from about 4 mm to probably 0.5mm. Sunday morning job done! Thanks again for your clear instruction. 😊

Great Video! Thanks for taking the time to do this. I probably would have damaged the pump and had to order a new one if it wasn't for this video. Didn't have any grease that's mentioned, but lithium grease worked just as well. Maybe it won't last as long as the plumber grease, but it's pumping smooth! Note, if you use lithium grease make it temporary as it can corrode plastic and rubber parts.

Thanks Robert for this great fix. Took less than 5 minutes to get my Kohler working like new. Always thought it was defect and it always stopped working when I used non dish wash soap. This saved me from buying a third replacement. Manufacturer should add instructions on how to fix this common problem.

The knife didn't work I had to use 2 channel locks and pull them apart. The mineral deposits glued the pieces together. I finally got it apart and it's pumping like day one 👍 thanks again pal!

when i opened it up it fell apart and i lost little ball that acts lika a valve so i melted ear cleaning stick (idk how do u people call it) and made it out of it. Now my dispenser finally works properly im so happy

Never knew I needed this video, but thanks for the info! I found this while searching for a way to install a tube that feeds the soap up vs using the standard bottle. I noticed these dispensers have a vent, so it would end up all over the outside of the tube if I remove the bottle. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

I don’t know if you have an answer to my second problem: someone accidentally recycled the soap bottle that fits the non-standard (not U.S. standard) cylindrical body and thread size of the Dornbracht fixture. Probably too late to help now, but if you are still trying to figure out what to do about your missing bottle, you could make an upgrade. You can get a kit which extends the tube all the way to the bottom of the cabinet under your sink. This enables you to just put a bulk bottle of soap under your sink instead of using the small bottle that comes with the pump.

I worked the utility knife for an hour and couldn't get the pump pieces to separate. Any advice?

will this fix my dispener that stopped dispensing? There is no problem with it sticking/staying down but it stopped pumping soap out for the most part. Pumping hot water used to fix it but doesnt really anymore.
