"Dance In The Graveyards" Lyrics:
When I die
I don't want to rest in peace
I want to dance in joy
I want to dance in the graveyards, the graveyards
And while I'm alive
I don't want to be alone
Mourning the ones who came before
I want to dance with them some more
Let's dance in the graveyards
Gloria, like some other name we kept on calling ya and waiting for change
But I belong to all of your mysteries
And all of us, we're meant for the fire, but we keep rising up and walking the wires
So when we go below don't lose us in mourning
'Cause when I die
I don't want to rest in peace
I want to dance in joy
I want to dance in the graveyards, the graveyards
And while I'm alive
I don't want to be alone
Mourning the ones who came before
I want to dance with them some more
Let's dance in the graveyards
Oh my love, don't cry when I'm gone
I will lift you up, the air in your lungs
And when you reach for me, we'll dance in the darkness
And we will walk beyond
Our daughters and sons, they will carry on
Like when we were young, and we will stand beside and breathe in their new life
'Cause when I die
I don't want to rest in peace
I want to dance in joy
I want to dance in the graveyards, the graveyards
And while I'm alive
I don't want to be alone
Mourning the ones who came before
I want to dance with them some more
Let's dance in the graveyards

I showed my mom this song a week before she passed. After she left this world my dad told me she played this song at least twice a day. She passed in my arms after a game of scrabble with my dad, sister, and me. My dad passed one year later. I hope they dance together in the graveyards.

More common than not, when one spouse dies the other usually doesn't last much longer, if they're of a higher age. I think that's about as symbolic of trying to live with a broken heart as just about anything I can think of. You try to go on, with half of yourself missing. I hope you're dealing with your loses, have found peace and are keeping the memories of your parents alive.

Also... group member Ian Holljes said: “When it came time to shoot a video for the song, we wanted to pay homage to Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican holiday whose rituals treat death with a similar celebratory feeling as the song - remembering the dead as vibrant and real - and create a story where the dead and the living are reunited to dance together once more.”

In the past after the funeral and everyone has left a violin player or harpist would sit and play at the grave until sunrise. There were special songs played that tradition says are not to be played to the living. It is still done in a few parts of Europe. Songs to ease the spirit of the dead into the after life. And since it is only for the dead it is only played for the dead.

Today is the 11 year anniversary of the day I met my wife. She passed away in July last year. We loved this song together and saw and met Delta Rae in Philly with our two children. So, this song is extremely special and meaningful to us. Thank you, Delta Rae!!!! When we met the band and told them we enjoyed this song, we didn't tell them that she was sick, and that she knew she would be leaving us.

I'm watching my sweetness, my wife, living with, and not too far away from dying from, dementia. I discovered this song after she was diagnosed and she quickly wanted it played at her funeral. (Both my mom and I agree and want it at ours as well.) I watch it now, as so much of her vibrance is taken away when dealing with her agitation, I just weep. I want her back and she's not even dead. Y'all, I'm sorry for your losses. These things ain't easy.

Something about this song hits different after the last 2+ years of the pandemic... so many of us have lost loved ones one way or another. We were isolated, stuck inside, waiting for an end to this time in our lives. Many people couldn't be with their loved ones in their final moments because of covid. With everything we have all gone through, take time out of each day to honor those that are no longer with you. Keep them tucked inside your heart, take their love with you on your journey through life. Remember you are not alone, even though it may seem that way. Hold those still with you close. Make memories that you can treasure in the darkness. Live every day like it's your last. Blessed be to each and every one of you 💜

Because copyrights help make record companies a lot of money, which gives them an incentive to produce very specific records that have a high probability of success over and over again, instead of gambling on a wider variety. The focus went from really creative album, to highly successful single with twelve crappy songs. I remember my dad telling me about some of the radio djs putting on whole albums. I bet it will get better soon though with file sharing. bands will need to make music that people want to buy tickets to see and the people will probably want to buy some of that music to support the band, and the world will be right.

The first time I heard this song was at my grandma's funeral on our way to the graveyard. I bawled like a baby and I still do when I hear this song. This was back in 2016. I miss you grandma. 😢😢

My god, this video is in perfect synergy with the song. This combination is absolutely beautiful. The song by itself was nice and catchy but when I first watched the music video it brought me to tears immediately. Thanks for this beautiful melancholy.

It isn't just the song that makes it a heartstring-tugging masterpiece, but the way it blends with the video. Before this video was released, it was just another excellent song on an excellent album. Then the video came out. Being one who had very recently lost someone close, the video really hit home because I wanted to be there myself to see my loved one just one more time. The simplicity is what makes it beautiful.

TY Delta Rae, I lost faith in the music industry. You have restored my faith that some artists care about the music and not the money. This is a great song, as with your other songs, love everything I've heard so far, can't wait for the next album. I played this song for my wife, it didn't take long before she was in tears remembering the good times with her father that passed away. the right words with the right music can touch us all. So once again, TY Delta Rae.

One of my favorite songs! This song speaks to me in so many ways! We have a small abandoned cemetery at the end of our yard that I turned into a pet project and have cleaned up and restored it! It is my happy place where I go to "commune with the locals," as I call it! I have often danced in my little graveyard!

I absolutely love this song. For me it indeed reaches beyond to those who have gone before. I have always been more in touch with myself, those around me, those who have gone before when I walk in the graveyards. This practice is something I do daily when I can. To feel, communicate with those in the beyond is a wonderful experience.

The eulogy is about how we are all trapped in our bodies with whatever we have and for those left behind not to cry because we are free now.

When I die I don't want to rest in peace I want to dance in joy I want to dance in the graveyards The graveyards And while I'm alive, I don't want to be alone Mourning the ones who came before I want to dance with them some more Let's dance in the graveyards Gloria, like some other name We kept on calling ya And waiting for change. But I belong to all of your mysteries And all of us are meant for the fire But we keep rising up And walking the wires So when we go below, Don't lose us in mourning When I die, I don't want to rest in peace I want to dance in joy I want to dance in the graveyards the graveyards And while I'm alive, I don't want to be alone Mourning the ones who came before I want to dance with them some more Let's dance in the graveyards. Oh Let's dance in the graveyards Oh Oh my love, don't cry when I'm gone. I will lift you up, the air in your lungs. And when you reach for me, We'll dance in the darkness And we will walk beyond Our daughters and sons. They will carry on Like when we were young And we will stand beside, and breathe in the new life When I die, I don't to rest in peace I want to dance in joy I want to dance in the graveyards The graveyards And while I'm alive, I don't want to be alone Mourning the ones who came before I want to dance with them some more. Let's dance in the graveyards. Oh Let's dance in the graveyards Oh
