Thank you for this! I have one sitting on a cast iron stand that needs attention and rebuild. Much appreciated!

Thank you for the fine video. I moved one of these into my shop recently. It is stripped down, in horizontal position. The round end of the belt is great for Queen Anne legs. The flat part is the best solution for mower blades. Dust pickup is tricky because I haven't run into a way to adapt to 4" hose. Disassembly of this old unit on a cabinet has so far defeated me, though last year I managed to change the V belt.

Does yours sit on a factory cabinet, or is it a custom one?

@@restoration-projects It's the same basic cabinet I received on my 14" Delta Rockwell bandsaw in 1976.

I rebuilt mine in 1989. Its a 1939 model. I also replaced the top and side guard covers from Delta.

Great info. Im having a hard time finding out what shaft material to order to use as a replacement drive shaft for a 1952 Ctaftsman 6" by 48" sander. It could use new bronze bushings, but it seems the shaft has more wear. I don't know the best shaft material to buy. I read somewhere not a chromed shaft. Do you have any ideas? I totally disassembled, de-rusted it then painted it with Dupicolor Gray engine enamel..... Its looking like new again. The paint seems very durable. I bought mine at a Habitat Restore for $35 😱 It has a Craftsman 1 HP motor too 😱😱😱 I've got another 50 into it. .....so far 😁 Still a great find. Thanks for your video redo.

Hello, great video and thank you for taking the time to share that. I have the same belt sander and was wondering if you would make a belt tensioning knob and tilt table lever for me? Needless to say these are the most difficult parts to find other than the covers.let me know and thanks again

Looking for info I found your video I have the belt disc combo with the 12” disc. It was missing parts but I did find them on eBay for pretty cheap. Now my issue is the belt tracks side to side and never stays centered I was thinking it’s a bearing but I have no way to know. Imma check the crown and go from there.

May I ask what gray paint you used in this restoration, please? I'm restoring a mid 80's Delta 14" bandsaw and it could definitely use some new paint, but I haven't yet found anything that I thought was very close. I'd rather not go the custom paint route if I can help it. Thanks again for sharing your expertise with us!

Hey, just acquired one of these today in great condition. The main issue is the belt is shot, what size belt would I need to get for it? Love your video.

It all depends on the size of pully on the motor and spindle. The best way I have found is to take string and wrap it around the pullys, then hold the ends together with your fingers to mark the position. Then, you can take it off and measure it to find the size. Hope that helps

May I ask what paint you used for the Delta gray, please? I'm rebuilding a 14" Delta bandsaw that could definitely use some new paint.

i"m builing one just like Tom Lipton's and it's a direct drive ,no pulley. Your motor has 3450 rpm but the belt shaft has less than that. i'm interested in what's the ratio between those 2 pulleys. Seems to be 2 to 1 which would make that rpm in half ,which would mean that my 1450 rpm motor is not that far off :)) @@restoration-projects
