Today we’re going to look at Dell Ultrasharp Webcam and how it compares to the Elgato Facecam.

These are both $200 cameras that promise DSLR-like performance with larger camera sensors, but are they worth $200? Let’s find out. I think my blue back lights are pure hell for the auto white balance in the Logitech and Dell cameras. The Elgato seemed to expect it (maybe because RGB streamers) and performed much better in default settings.

Thank you. I'm actually just using a Neewer 12" ring light slightly off center to my left, but I've put it in a Neewer light box to diffuse the light. This one: www.amazon.com/dp/B085Q3PC66
The review of the Mokose 4K from a few months ago caught my attention. Not sure when that one is more appropriate than the ones discussed in this video.

Good point, it actually seems to have better color reproduction and dynamic range compared to these ones too be honest. It's still the one I use for wide angle capture
In case of DELL Ultra 4k webcam: I have noticed that in HDR mode the picture quality goes down in comparison with HDR off (gets more cubics and looks low quality). I have noticed it on video here and personally testing it. Any explanation for it. Can it be improved?
Wow, it is night and day with the Elgato in terms of image quality. Pretty much in every comparison video I've seen.

It's a very good webcam, especially when you compare it to others in low light environments.
Nice video, but I wish you had made a comparison using either the 4k resolution of the Dell. :)

Fair, but my tests at 4k didn't give it much more definition. It needs a lot of light.
Thanks for this. The $199 price point is getting better but not there yet. Especially on the software integration end. I want ILWC at that price point. The convenience of a WebCam that can plug and play with interchangeable lenses. The a6000 work flow (pressing shutter for each Teams call) made me go back to a surface3 integrated cam for video calls.

Agreed. I have to say that the 1080p webcams in the Surface bezels are better in many cases than the external webcams. Color temp out of the box is also very accurate.
What settings do you suggest tweaking on the Facecam? Any sequence recommended?

Go as low as you can on the ISO and adjust from there. It's a great webcam
Just got the Elgato FaceCam. The Dell looks more blown out where as the Elgato just seems sharper. Also I think the software has more depth on the Elgato cause you can adjust things like shutter speed and ISO among the rest of the software abilities.

The Dell webcam works for streaming on xbox and twitch? Is it supported by streamlabs obs etc.?

I'm not sure about Xbox, but I believe that would work. OBS works.
I bought this webcam and it doesn't work to update firmware...

The Dell? Does it still work, or did it get bricked? I was able to update the firmware on mine without problems. I have bricked an OBSBOT Tiny PTZ with failed firmware attempt, but their after sales support was great and I had a replacement in 1-2 days.

@@DeployJeremy still work, but I see in Dell Peripheral Manager Dell UltraSharp Webcam WB7022 ( i ) and when I'm hovering over that ( i ) I see Firmware Version 0.0.0.1 and no update button. :/
Why can't webcam perform as good as phone cameras? despite being so large.

Image processing power and firmware. You can take terrible photos on a full frame camera if you don't know how to set exposure, white balance, tint, etc.

@@DeployJeremy yeah im aware, but iPhone is a phone, these are cameras. I won't callit an actual camera, but the main feature is camera.

@@Slipsch firmware and just power of phones carry image quality. webcams dont have cpu's etc

Not for the image alone. Windows Hello support is great though. For Windows secure MFA sign in convenience it wins.

@@DeployJeremy thanks for the help. For me, after I changed the camera resolution in obs for streaming from 1080 to 4k it changed a lot in quality. Specially using in the dark with just the monitor as a light source.
