Do you need to ground the laptop before changing the hard drive or memory?

Yes remove the battery and power supply. This should ground it. Good question
What OS did you install? Got this model on order.

@@techstudiotube I’m thinking of installing XP. All the rest (as in) 7,10,11: Vista and the like are all blotted with unnecessary application. I know it’s a wee bit out of date, but one has more control over things. Not wanting it for the Internet.
