There are 3 POWER MODES on a G15 R5 3050. 1. Unplugged (battery only) mode: 12-35 watts, also locks framerate to 30fps on some titles and scales power draw with graphics demand for the 30fps target. 2. Plugged-in normal mode: 60-79 watts. 3. Plugged-in High Performance mode (press the "G" button) 60-89 watts depending on GPU clock speed which scales with temperature - this mode simply allows the GPU clock mode dynamic scaling at the expense of generating quite a bit more heat. Best results when you select "Rapid Cooling" mode in the Alienware control center app thingie but it sounds like an airplane taking off.

For laptop it's usual for them to attain this much in temp while under heavy load, same for desktop but here u can change cooler, fans, etc. The temp of the gpu and cpu depend on the ambiant temperature, the higher she is the higher you computer is temp can go, but at some point it attain his limit and we call it the thermal trottle, the perf will be lower, that's why you chould if you can try to undervolt your gpu or change the fan speed curve, like if it's at 80 C then 90% fan speed etc, all of this to see how you can lower the temp and how much noise it will do, and how much you can stand. Or you can buy a stand with fans for you laptop, it will draw heat better and you pc will be cooler

I don't think you'll have to fear that. The rtx 3050 is pretty unpopular among many gamers. It might become more popular once prices are clearly cheaper than 1660ti and 2060.

What is the performance difference between the RTX 3050 and it's Ti version on the same laptop? And how are the temps? Does it ever go over 95 degree C?

I'm assuming the 3050ti should be around 10% faster. GPU has a max temp of 75-83 Degrees. CPU has a max temp of 85-93 Degrees. (Under heavy load gaming at 23°C Room Temperature, but of course it depends on your room temps and your Fan Speed Curve, I'v tested mostly with 90-100% fanspeed)

@@Hubwood Fan speed curve puts it in the balanced mode power. At least that's the case with my G5 5500 model. Only way around it is to enable 100% fans and adjust wattage in throttlestop.

Battery conservation on laptops has improved greatly. I used my dell G5 plugged in most of the time and the battery health never decreased in over a year and a half form 99%

I can't believe Dell didn't advertise the 80 watt TDP, they missed a marketing opportunity to say something good about their product. I was pleasantly surprised, decided to keep the laptop because it's honestly a great laptop with an ok screen and terrible speakers. Good enough for me and good where it counts.

@@ke9587 84-87 watts with Game mode on. 74-77 on normal mode. Also, this is only with the power cable plugged in. Unplug the power cable and it limits fps to 30 max and power to around 16 watts depending on how hard it has to work. Maybe 35 watts max on battery but I'm not sure. I'll have to double check.

Yes that should be perfectly fine. Consider that it doesn't have a super long battery life like some more portable thin and light laptops.

Seeing the performance are basically the same as 1650ti and only thing that helped is DLSS is a no no for me. Also nvidia, this is 2021, how the hell they still manage to sell 4gb on a laptop!?

The 80W 3050 in this laptop is comparable to 60W 3050 Ti which in turn is better than 1660 Ti(Except VRAM).

I’ve just brought this shit laptop. After disable turbo shift I got normal 120 fps in league of legends. But I want at least 240 fps so I’ve turn on all of the performance settings and switch them to max option and the result.. it’s only got 160 and sometimes it would drop to 95 ffs. The main problem is this shit laptop would only used the useless integrated graphics instead of the powerful nvidia GPU in league. Only 30% of the nvidia GPU has been utilized for the game. 🤬 Honestly 120 fps is so fucking low for a RTX 3050 laptop. It’s should be at least 300 - 400+ DON’T waste your money for this shit and wasting a lot of time for tuning the stupid system

@@spicylemon53234 By the way I've solved the problem already. Disable intel speed shift and unlock turbo boost with Throttlestop. BIOS turbo boost setting did nothing.
