As far as I know, this can also be caused by the mounting tabs for the power jack breaking off on the inside (and thus the "sense" pin failing to make contact), which was a very annoying issue on my Inspiron 11 (2015-2017 models).

My adapters are Dell OEM units that work fine on other Dell laptops. Finally used an old PRO3X E-dock which bypasses the AC jacks on my 2 bad laptops (E7250 and E7450), and they now charge and run faster. BIOS also indicates correct wattage. The E-dock works with all Dell E-serries laptops. Note: The dock requires a 90W adapter to operate.

Thanks for this video......I was able to fix my Dell laptop so it will charge again. I used a generic brand Q-tip to fix mine......one with a stiff stick....Cut off one soft end and shave/cut the stick so it is small enough to do the job if your power jack is very small like mine was. I am not sure I will buy another Dell though because of this feature. This is the second Dell I have had this problem with.

Within some mechanical pencils, there is a metal tube that you can use to bend the charger pin back in place. This video fix worked for me, btw. Thanks!

You sir, absolutely saved me some money!! I could not figure out why it would power on and work correctly but not charge and that message had me concerned. I just bought this power supply used and assumed it was not the right one when it didn't plug in all the way. In the end, that stupid pin was just bent. BTW I used a thumbtack point to fix mine.

I'm getting this error after replacing the input jack after crushing the previous one by bending the power jack whilst inserted. I know the cable is good as works fine on another laptop still. Does this sound like a faulty replacement input jack or worse? Model is dell 5480. Thanks

I also get this message, but the problem is on the laptop board, power adapter works on other laptops, and also already replaced power jack. I will have to check if there is any short on the board, or IC...

that is not the problem with my dell laptop.. the charging cord pin is straight,,, i get that same message on every start up.. i bought this used laptop from a buddy that was an IT guy for a large company... i told him about the message i get, he had me read off the specs from the dell charger and the computer spec plate.. he said that is the correct type of charger for my laptop.. i also notice that the top of the laptop gets HOT on both sides of the mousepad at times when in use.. makes me a bit concerned...

Thanks I was having the same problem and after watching your video I cleaned the inside of my charger port and now showing no warning .for the same problem a few months ago I got a new charger . Wish I watched the video then.

My pc says warning.65w has been detected. which is less than recommended 90w. and I didn't know what to do even though I had changed the charger.

In my case the pin is detached not on the charger but in the wire behind the charging port inside the laptop

crazy lil rhino Me to, it’s really frustrating. Bought a new charger and input thing. Wasted my money, and dell can’t explain what’s wrong and I’ve only had this for a year and a half.

I still have this warning with 2 different power supplies and with good pin inside, it's on my Mothers Alienware m17x r3 and the performance is horrible atm. It's weird tho on diagnostic tool everything passed the test except my battery which I will get replaced in some days

Running Diagnostics from my Dell 5430 laptop, the power supply test says "Pass" but it also says the power supply is rated 1 Watt. It's a 90 Watt supply, which is what is required by the laptop. The test is defective - it shouldn't have read "Pass".

@@justyourlocalteasis1633 hi! im not sure what it's called, but the small pin inside the tip of the charger was misaligned/bent that's why the charger won't fit well. so i straightened the pin. after that, the charger fits well and the laptop was charging already.
