Just to clarify something you said. The toggle switch you said was for a boost isn't for a boost. It's for assigning the presence and depth to one or both of the channels or to turn them off completely. Other than that you did a great job as always Rabea!

You know what I'd like to Actual Deliverance Head. That would be great! I owned a Deliverance Head when they where VHT. the D-120, loudest tube amp I ever heard neverminded own! Fantastic amp heads. Now you show me a way to have that incredible head again for around $400.00 USD. I'm checkin' this thing out! Thanks Rabea for the great video Much Appreciated!

This is the only other Synergy module I plan to buy, as it is representative of the VHT/Fryette Sig:X's Rhythm channel (i.e. home). EDIT 1: It is disappointing, with no disrespect intended, that Bea did not learn how the Deliverance's gain controls work; it is no exaggeration to say that they are the defining feature of the amp. Gain I is a voicing control, which controls both the amount of distortion and the tonality of distortion (low settings produce a treble and upper mid emphasis, which transitions into a low mid and bass emphasis at high settings); Gain II is an overdrive control, which controls both the amount of distortion and the amount of saturation (i.e. compression). Steve Fryette's preamps are unique in how they can produce tremendous distortion without significant saturation-the "dry" alternative to a "liquid' lead. Using high settings on both gain controls and engaging the More switch (which adds a gain stage) will produce the most compression, with a low mid and bass emphasis which will come as close to "liquid" leads as the Deliverance is capable of delivering. EDIT 2: The "Red/Off/On" switch does not control the More switch's boost, as Bea stated; rather, it determines whether the Presence and Depth controls are engaged.

  • @Robstafarian

As I wrote in another comment, this is essentially the Rhythm channel of the Sig:X in a module (I do not know how the cathode resistor and capacitor switching in this module compares to the Channel Voicing switch's positions on the Sig:X). In case you were wondering, the Fryette Pitbull module is essentially the Lead channel of the Sig:X in a module. I plan to sell my Sig:X as soon as it is safe to do so, relative to COVID-19, and this module will give me my "home" channel from the Sig:X whilst allowing said amp (my white whale) to be used by someone who can handle its size and weight (my spastic cerebral palsy has gotten to be too much, and I will have plenty of help with packing and shipping). EDIT: I should mention that the SYN-1's Sag control is essentially an adjustable version of the Sig:X's Dynamic Sensing Technology.

You absolutely killed it with the tones you got here Rabea. Had me literally sitting next to my own Deliverance 60 wanting to get one of these units. Edit: Only wish you would've experimented with how well this amp cleans up (without losing sustain/sag/compression/fluidity) simply by adjusting the volume knob and pickup selection on your guitar. That signature feature of the Deliverance amps might also benefit from their KT88 poweramps and output transformers though, so I am uncertain how it would be with EL34's/other poweramps. But I do know that the dynamics in the full amps are incredible!

I think Rabea missed the rationale behind the two gain knobs. The left knob is a gain and tone shaping setting. Lower settings give you a thinner / brighter sound and higher gain settings are darker. The second gain knob is only a gain knob. Anyhow, it sounded great.

I would love to see you get your hands on a Hook Wizard Amp. That thing is before its time, such a genius invention. A true Analog Tube/Valve amp in signal path but controlled digitally. U can create presets that u can control via a codex knob on the faceplate, footswitch, or midi and has motorized knobs that turn to the preset positions. The only digital aspect of the signal path itself is digital reverb and if using the line out on the back of the amp it has an IR cab loader. So cool. I really want to see more of them besides the one ive seen on Paul David's channel.

Great review, the Fyette sound amazing. Actually there is a difference when it comes to power sections of tube amps. I run a Helix LT through the Return loop of a Marshall DSL 20w head el34, Mesa mk5 35 head el84 and an Orange Dark Terror el84 head and they all sound different. The Marshall power section being the best IMO. Now I run the Helix LT through an Orange Pedal Baby and it sounds great, into a 2x12 cabinet with Helix cabs off. I only use the Pedal Baby now for consistency when creating presets. I am thinking about picking of a SYN-1 and running it through the Pedal Baby. I seen your Bogner Uberschall video and you seem to be blown away by that module. How would you compare it to this Fyette?

Any chance we're going to see the Carthus Burst available to buy anytime soon? I'm dying to get my hands on one!

Yeah man, obviously with the whole pandemic situation it slowed down production. Mainly some of the hardware parts etc. But I believe mid summer they should be shipping to stores

The first sound at 6:06 sounds a lot like Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance. (I'm a drummer so I don't understand all the technicalities here.)

How could you use something like this as a pre-amp feeding into an axe-fx? Is this possible?

  • @jonathanstubbsguitar5340

Mo Khayat I think you could just use the Syn 1 and go in to the inputs of the axefx , disengage the amp section and just use the axis as a cab simulator

Biggest problem with the Synergy stuff for me is choosing a module... They all sound so damn good!

Jeff Conner modules cost $400 us. The hardware (Syn1 in this case) runs $500.

Sag is in the power amp but this is a preamp, so...? What's it truly do?

  • @Robstafarian

The Sag control is essentially an input sensitivity control for a compression circuit, with the LED lighting up when the threshold has been met; it is intended to be used when running the SYN-1 direct, to mimic as much power amp "give" as one may desire. Of course, it is also possible to use it as Bea did here.
