@Animals Mistaken For Monsters ... Because it is... 😀🤣 To feed 8 people with regular potatoes, you need a 5lb bag of russet potatoes, which is like $3.99, but a big bag of chips is $4.29, maybe more. So why would I get a bag of chips to only make a small serving of mashed potatoes? 🤔 That's why this is useless. This is just a neat little trick to prove what it should be able to do. It doesn't make anything easier because you would need to buy a bunch of bags, which is obviously more money just to make the same amount of mashed potatoes as a 5lb bag.

Smoked paprika is amazing.

The only thing about making mashed potatoes from chips and not the real potatoes is all the preservatives that was used to make the mashed potatoes. True this was neat video and the know how to do this might come in handy if you were almost starving. I personally like making my mashed potatoes out of the white Idaho potatoes. Rather than pouring out the water... you can add in other veggies like carrots and onion, maybe mushrooms and then you have a creamy potato soup. (It will also work with French fries) But ya get the low salt kind.

YES! Every time I see someone do this my instant reaction is disbelief. But then my brain goes "girl... what do you think Instant Mashed potatoes are? How about the boxed scalloped potatoes huh? Yeah it works, but when you buy chips you're paying for all the processing they do to them. Sliced, deep fried, seasoned... the seasoning and oil just went down the sink drain after boiling them. So much cheaper just to buy the potatoes. Thanks for playing... 😜

Peel and cut in half 6 potatoes Boil until soft. Mash until most lumps are gone ad 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream and 1 pack of hidden valley ranch powder pack or 1 Italian dressing pack and 2 tbsp of salted butter whip until creamy. Let sit for 5 min to rest. Serve Hot.

Just to clarify, a family sized bag of chips and a sack of potatoes are the same price lol. Somebody tell me I'm lying

Mashed potatoes and potato chips are just potatoes. The chips are basically little different than the potato flakes that you add water to to make instant mashed potatoes. If I were going to make mashed potatoes out of potato chips, instead of simply throwing the chips in the boiling water, I might grind the potato chips into powder so they would be smoother and add only what hot water/hot milk was necessary to create the right texture. They already have salt so add a little pepper, maybe garlic or herbs, some cheese if you want. You could also use the boiled potato chips, left whole & drained, to make an au gratin dish.
