Good Interview. Interview karne ka art Mr Karan Thapar se sikhna chahiye.He knows his job very well ,Clear, transparent and to the point.

Here in Bengal, particularly where I live, we have a Muslim neighborhood and we live together in peace and harmony. There has been no problems whatsoever and certainly Muslim people do not feel 2nd class citizens here. Also the fact that we don't really care who is what. We are Bengalis, we're Indians and that's what matters. We work, we earn, we eat, we celebrate, we help each other out and we are kind to each other.

People don't have tonnes of stones handy for 'just in case' situations. I saw the interviews of the residents of different areas that were attacked, both Hindus and Muslims told that the people they saw attacking were not locals ... they were outsiders! ... Go figure !

At this dangerous situation, families are separated. Mother doesn't know where her child is? Murdered people's family doesn't know where their children are, forget where they are, they don't even know how they are? they are dead or alive?? People concerned that how will their livelihood continue? People, who are safe are scared that what will happen with them tomorrow, we also have a family what is gonna happen with us, should we stay quiet or fight against them if we fight or not any way we will be killed just because of our identity? Will there be a better tomorrow? Are the policemen really performing their responsibilities? People who have lost their properties and their loved ones thinking: will they be able to rise again, continue their business, or what if they rose and this happens again with them, will their family come out of trauma?? How many times humanity will be killed, kindness, care, affection will be killed? Do the rioters notice their dignity? How they have let humanity down? How could they behave like monsters? Many don't know where is a missing member of their family. I am 18-year old I have really no clue about Gujrat I have heard that in discussions. But when I saw Delhi I was stunned I felt like what would happen if this would happen with me. I am not so brave that I could see my family burning, and I know not only me none have that courage.

This interview is most concise intellectual and explained the situation very clearly

What a pity, people in general don't even have any expectations from a particular Govt(system)! This feeling of hopelessness in the mind of common man is very very dangerous for the entire country. I need not elaborate further. I would like to sum up with one of my Urdu couplets: Hisaar e lafz (ambit of words) mein har shai (issue) kahaaN samaati hai ! Suno, ke meri kh'moshi (silence) bhi kuchh sunaati hai. ! حصارِ لفظ میں ہر شے کہاں سماتی ہے! سنو، کہ میری خموشی بھی کچھ سناتی ہے (ارشد کمال) Notwithstanding the above, thanks a lot for a very useful and enlightening discussion.

Modi is riot champion. His career shows that Gujrath as chief minister Delhi as Prime Minister. This man is destructor of soul of India he is born to do that

The way Syed Shahabuddin wrote an article in the year 1980 on the riots in Moradabad in Sunday Weekly by the heading, "Let Me Cry For Moradabad", I found the same sombre words used by Farah Naqvi and Najeeb Jung in interviews to Karan Thapar. They have put their hearts on their sleeves. I admire and adore all three of them. Nobody else could do the same except for Harsh Mandar of late who has incurred the wrath of the Political Masters of BJP. I salute Harsh Mandar for doing so as he did for Indian Muslims and the entire Ummah owes thanks and gratefulness for the compassion and empathy of this mortal human being at the cost his life. Hats off to him.

This is one of the most memorable and impactful interviews I have ever had the privilege of hearing...not because of the interviewer but because of the interviewee...Karan is very eloquent and has very good command of the English language unlike most of his compatriots in India, but then he is also full of himself (and too British for my liking)...Ms. Farah Naqvi is something else...I now have a tremendous amount of respect for this elegant lady, her ability to analyze and express...I am an old Bombayite living for the past 44 years in the U.S. and nowadays an avid seeker of news from my motherland...Over the past few years I was feeling very warm towards Mr. Modi and what he was trying to achieve in India, especially regards mitigating the plight of the poor and efforts towards national sanitation, etc....But Farah has given me a deep yet subtle peep into the psyche of the Muslims living in India that I feel very few ever can...as an educated woman that could make any nation proud, even though she likely hails from a privileged background, the way she explained the state of mind of the common Muslim in India today facing the barrage of Hindutva slogans and imagery, this is indeed an eye opener, and I am eternally grateful to her for this...her explanation of how her mother always wore the bindee, and so did she till her experience analyzing the Gujarat riots, is quite enlightening...an identity of an educated and brilliant Indian woman being reduced to a Muslim first, then woman, then Indian, is quite sad and a painful insight into the state of affairs in India today...I still believe we cannot blame Modi directly for this, but surely he is responsible for this since he has not muzzled the parade of idiots in the BJP that parrot just the wrong things about the denizens of a proud and most universal of all countries on the globe today...these idiots mouthing on behalf of Modi are the lowest on the totem pole of understanding of the universal nature of all of India's great leaders, saints, mystics and sufis...Unless Modi brings his cadre under his direct control and sacks every police official/political leader responsible for last week's unfortunate Delhi mayhem he should be booted out of office at the earliest opportunity...and I was thinking India had finally found a great leader !!!!!

So you say we believe on what the Aajtak and Zee News mongrels bark? Or have faith on the words of those filthy pigs - Modi and Amit Shah? You could sense the coordination here on what they were conveying to the public. But could you not sense the venom and hatred this Bhajpa government fills in the hearts of those misdirected youths who are holding sabres and katta revolvers at a time they should be holding pen? Majority of educated youth don't have this unidirectional mindset of hatred that Modi has propagated. His creed is uneducated and crude and he is making full use of them. Use sense and ethics. The very fact that Kejriwal chose to be oblivious to the protestors in Shaheen Bagh before the Delhi elections shows he did not want to court controversies. Even now he promises to compensate victims but he does not want to be seen holding their hand and consoling them. He had promised work which he highlighted before the elections and he feels he has discharged his executive duties by declaring compensations. I feel minorities voted for him because they had no alternative and he of course never openly spewed communal hatred. But the lack of any kind of display of his take on the Shaheen Bagh protestors should have been indication enough to those of whom who placed any hope on his secular credentials.

go read the book Delhi riots and stop listening to KT..hes paid by foreign NGOs to make hindus look bad..infact throughout the interview he is putting words in her mouth ! they absolutely didnt talk about how muslims were getting prepared for an all out war, how there were petrol bombs, stones, molotovs, pistols found from a muslim councillors house, how umar khalid and his whatsapp chat confirms he was talking to tukde tukde gang, separatist and taking orders..(pre planned riots to make india look bad as trump was visiting)

Karan Thapar loves Muslims, he is extremely passionate about them, he loves what they wear, what they eat , what they speak and how they live. Actually he was a Muslim in his previous birth and by mistake he was born as Hindu in his present life.

KUDOS! HEARTFELT & INSPIRING!! The incident of offering of apple in a train… TELLS A TON about the prevailing mentality then, but much more - NOW! A century and quarter ago, a letter was written by a man born in a HINDU family, to a MUSLIM friend, in India: - My Dear Friend, I appreciate your letter very much and am extremely happy to learn that the Lord is silently preparing wonderful things for our motherland. Whether we call it Vedantism or any ism, the truth is that Advaitism is the last word of religion and thought and the only position from which one can look upon all religions and sects with love. I believe it is the religion of the future enlightened humanity. The Hindus may get the credit of arriving at it earlier than other races, they being an older race than either the Hebrew or the Arab; yet practical Advaitism, which looks upon and behoves to all mankind as one's own soul, was never developed among the Hindus universally. On the other hand, my experience is that if ever any religion approached to this equality in an appreciable manner, it is Islam and Islam alone. Therefore, I am firmly persuaded that without the help of practical Islam, theories of Vedantism, however fine and wonderful they may be, are entirely valueless to the vast mass of mankind. We want to lead mankind to the place where there is neither the Vedas, nor the Bible, nor the Koran; yet this has to be done by harmonising the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran. For our own motherland a junction of the two great systems, Hinduism and Islam - Vedanta brain and Islam body - is the only hope. Ever praying that the Lord may make of you a great instrument for the help of mankind, and especially of our poor, poor motherland. Yours with love, * * * * * Today, in 2020, does it look even more relevant; or an eye opener; or an inspiration; or a caution for course correction, or prophetic - depending on the mentality of the reader?! If you didn’t know who wrote it, or guessed it (correctly, or not), this letter was written by the legendary Prophet and Pathfinder, SWAMI VIVEKANANDA, from Almora, to Mohammed Sarfaraz Husain of Nainital, on 10 Jun 1898 [vide The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda - Volume 6, Epistles - Second Series- Letter No. CXLII] For those who may not be familiar with the Sanskrit terminology, Swami Vivekananda essentially preached, both in the East & West, and strived to bring out, in a manner which even a child will understand, the universal truths in ‘Vedanta’. It is ‘Veda’ + ‘Anta’ - the end (anta) portion literally, but signifying the essence, of the ancient Vedas. Vedanta is also known as Upanishads. Vedanta has three basic forms or approaches- Dvaita (dualistic path), Vishishta- Advaita (qualified non-dualism) and the highest, A-dvaita (Non-dualistic path or Monoism). These are mutually complimentary in a spiritual seeker's progress. Nowhere has Swamiji talked of anything called ‘Hindu Rashtra’ - being fantasized by some weird section of the populace! The term ‘Hindu’ itself is nowhere in Vedanta. In fact, Swamiji has brought out that it is of a much recent origin, merely due to historical/ geographical reasons [based on the river Indus - Sindhu, in Sanskrit - introduced by the ancient Persians, who pronounced the ‘S’ as ‘H’ - (refer The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda, Volume 3, Lectures from Colombo to Almora - Vedantism). In 1897 he said in a prophetic mood that if you work for the motherland you will get freedom in 50 years (and we all know it did happen in 1947!). But he knew that during his lifetime, the countrymen were too much degraded in spirit and energy, and the time was not yet ripe to handle independence. It had to wait. Furthermore, he told that even after getting political freedom, true freedom of citizens will come only if good amount of spiritual progress takes place in the people. He said, “…Before flooding India with socialistic or political ideas, first deluge the land with spiritual ideas. …” [refer: The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda - Volume 3 / Lectures from Colombo to Almora / MY PLAN OF CAMPAIGN (Delivered at the Victoria Hall, Madras)]. He had cautioned that the whole of Europe is sitting on a bomb which can explode anytime - World war I & II happened. He told communist revolution will come from the East- either Russia or China. He had foreseen the huge potential of youth in India. Hope and pray this 'small' letter of Vivekananda, though a century and quarter old, ALL THE MORE TODAY in 2020, will: * STRENGTHEN and INSPIRE all who follow, and support, COMMUNAL HARMONY in our democracy; * WARN/ CAUTION those who don’t- the gang which recognises communities by their ‘clothes', or eating biryani, or Poha, Shamshan-Kabristaan, Taj Mahal- 'Tejomahal!'...etc etc etc - to make serious COURSE CORRECTIONS; * Be a PATHFINDER (Maargdarshak!) for the fence-sitters!!

What Farah has described is put very mildly yet she has tried to be all encompassing. Speaking from experience, my home was burnt on 10th Jan 1993 in the Bombay. We saw the police complicit, in that they provided the Petrol from what I heard the rioters say. There was not a single MP, MLA, CORPORATOR that even met us to apply some sympathy. I am a Zoroastrian and even the Parsi Panchayat did not offer me shelter because my wife is a Catholic. The compensation given by the Govt was Rs. 5000/-. The only help and shelter given to us was by a benevolent friend who let us live in her flat for 4 years. God bless her and her husband. It's harrowing is to put it mildly.

While the topic of this interview is really lovely and I highly enjoyed listening to Farah Naqvi speak , unfortunately I could not fully enjoy this interview with Karan constantly interrupting her and over talking while she's speaking and it felt like listening to nails on a chalkboard due to the frequent interruptions and overtalking. Listening skills are very important, not just talking. This is my polite request to please let the interviewee speak uninterrupted and finish their point before the interviewer poses the next question or statement in any future interviews, thank you.

The point about "bindi" is so true! I cannot rationally explain why I refuse to wear the bhagwa today simply because it is now part of symbolism that I refuse to be part of. When things to return to normalcy, I will adorn bhagwa as much as I adorn blue or white or black today.

This is the outcome of the politics being pursued by the present government.

Well, thanks for this interview, Karan. The story is getting clear day by day. What you see on videos ...You have Chand bagh video where even Muslim ladies in Burqa have seen stone pelting the policemen, cornering them and probably ultimately leading to the killing of constable Shyam Lal, injuring the police officials, you have Tahir Hussain, Shahrukh Khan, Shahnawaj Khan doing what they were assigned to do...Do you see any Hindu mob pelting on police ..now if you say Muslims have lost the property...I think the situation very clear that who started the riots, who got prepared in advance with storage of stones and acid bombs etc .....if the entire purpose of this interview is to say that Muslims feel threatened and abandoned .....must be after the riots ...maybe the innocent one who did not have the guts to stop the community rioters .....The fact is that genuine Muslim leadership has failed the community and I include Farah Naqvi as well...Karan ...will you take the interview of the family of Ankit Sharma as well who was killed as part of target killing. Yes, I do blame the police ...they should never have allowed the Shahin Bagh ab initio but the journalist like you would have made a lot of noise if ladies there who did not have the clue of CAA, were to be uprooted from their illegal occupation of public property...Fact is that Indian journalists have a lot to answer for instigating these riots and now shielding the real culprits now. These attempts are bound to fail.
