Hi Robert, don't think I don't experience frustration, I just don't believe in wasting energy in anger as it solves nothing, but we've all been there, and with experience, you learn to take it on the chin a little bit better!

Left handed drills are also good for taking out broken bolts. the bolt might even thread it self out before you drill through it.

Thank You for sharing, I do like the professional way you do things. FYI, when (as on these Oil Cooler lines), you have more than one bolt holding things in place, I just barely crack one of the bolts loose at a time. Even crack it loose, squirt some oil on it, then tighten it back up a bit. What I have found (at times), is once you loosen one of the bolts off, all the pressure of holding thiese parts together, then goes onto the remaining bolt/s, which can cause problems. Not sure if that would have helped here but FYI. Regards JB

Sure thing mate, it'll catch you out one way, or another, so it's good to have a few options!

Typical galvanic corrosion steel on aluminium we had a big problem with this corrosion on the aston martins Mercedes some fords and a few other makes luckily enough they changed the way cooler rads and water rads were made which stopped the corrosion but not many people know that if you use anti seize or graphite grease it does stop the locking up not all the time but sometimes great videos I’m really enjoying this series of videos thanks for sharing stay safe

Thanks for the washer trick Del - I'll be using that in future. I was relieved to see you snap a bolt - I was starting to think that you were invincible! I've a broken bolt in my fork stantion (used in the US for side reflectors) that I've never managed to get out. I might try one more time after today's video!

You could try rolling a piece of putty plastersin making a little dam around the sized bolt and filling with WD 40 return and refill few times leave Will work on bigger bolts possibly not very small

Get yourself some PB Blaster its the best penatrating catalyst I've ever tried, it eats rust. (melts foam cup) Good Luck

Great video! Good methods shown on ways to deal with crappy bolts. I must say however, my aviation background made me cringe by not having the fluid passageways blocked off when filing, drilling and welding. Yes i know all that "can be" boiled out. But why let it get in in the first place? I read through the comments, I must agree with iGMAS, A set of "Lefty" drill bits is the greatest thing since sliced bread! As most fasteners simply "back right out during the drilling operation". However they don't work with a drill press! In a Milling machine they are sweet!

Thanks Richard, there's a reason for it, the artist in the band is a friend of ours, and he's been very, very ill, and going through some life changing difficulties, so it was a mark of respect to just show we're remembering and thinking of him while he gets better... will always be changing the music to different things, just gotta keep it fresh aye!

Alright Del, enjoy watching the fabrication stuff a lot... As for bolts seized in place they can be a massive pain in the arse, I've got what appear to be homemade swing arm bobbins stuck on my Tiger & the f##kers won't budge 😠 last thing I want to do is damage my swing arm getting them out... Can't imagine why the previous owner thought these were a good idea.... Rant over, nice vid 👍

Hi Michael, thank you buddy, still only manage maybe one bead pass in five, comes out perfect, but that's an improvement on the one in 20 I used to do lol ! The new machine helps, it welds a lot smoother and is a lot easier to use... have a great week, D&Px

Hi, nice job a few touches more and it's ready. Sorry but Im going to disturb you with a question..lol I thought you might know. I bought a Lucas 7" headlamp shell, it doesn't come with the mounting bolts.....they look like M8 size but they ere not. It looks that it is an imperial size and one of the diff.. imperial thread . Any Idea ?? As Im not british I grew up with the metric and Im not good to this sizes...lol thanks a lot. Gus

Hi Gus, never any trouble to try and help mate... if the threaded hole is roughly the size of an M8, let's assume M8 x 1.25, then the two inch equivalents will either be 5/16-18, that's UNC, or possibly 5/16-24 UNF... give both of those a try, one of them will mostly likely fit... let us know how you get on mate!

Yes mate, I am actually gonna use this set of headers cos regardless of the flakey finish, they're pretty thick steel and actually pretty sound, but will be replacing the stud bolts just while I can!

I seem to have a slight oil leak on my Busa after completing a ride. It pools to about the size of a 50p piece. It seems to drip from the left side of the oil pan at the very bottom (the square looking part near the plug). Any tips on trying to locate it or what a common culprit for leaks are on these things? For what it's worth I did just have a new downpipes put on it and they replaced the oil. Are you aware of Busas having any overflow pipes in them when too much oil has been put in?

Ok mate, has too much oil actually been put in then. just check the sight glass, is it too high? Also if they've changed the oil, is it possibly over spillage or residue from changing the filter? And the size of the leak you mention sounds like a few drips at best, is it doing it every day, or did it just do it once after the oil change?

@@Moonfleet41 I thought I would monitor it for a while before replying. It seems quite high, or higher than I would have put the oil up to when I did it myself. It seems the leak is still happening after a 10 minute ride, about the size of a 50p piece. I should note that the oil feed pipes were replaced with 2nd hand pipes. Just today, I also noticed that there is residue of oil on the outside of the fairing air vent, right side (which is near where the oil radiator pipe connector is). Also, it seems the bike burns some oil too, which can easily be seen smoking out the exhaust, and I can smell it too. I just think it's strange that it stops leaking when the bike is sat there after the initial 50p piece. Sorry to bombard you with this. I am just trying to figure out what it is before having to return it to the mechanics which will only add to more costs.

@@hunterjg777 OK, i always believe in working through the simple things first.. i would correct that oil level, just suck a little out until the sight glass is 2/3 of the way up the glass... take the lower plastics off, wash the whole engine so it's bone dry, then go for a ride, when you get back, you may be able to see where the leak is coming from, it could be no more then a loose filter, oil union bolt or oil pipe clip... With the engine bone dry and clean, you can see it more clearly, then once you trace the source, you can fix it.!

Just an update, upon inspection, the leak seems to be coming from the thread housing of the oil cooler itself, and in fact one side of the housing (thread on the cooler) has split and it is coming out of there. So it's split from the inner thread to the outer part of the housing on one side. I don't know if someone has overtightened it at some stage. The other side of the housing thread is fine. Is the cooler done at this stage or would I be looking at replacing the cooler now? Any ideas where is best to source one? This is not your problem I know, don't mean to drag this out, but if I can keep a hold of the bike as long as I can and fix it up myself, then it will be economical to keep

​@@hunterjg777 Hi again buddy, good to hear from you... it sounds like someone's over tighten a union which could, possibly be, a tapered thread and that will certainly do it!... these things have a torque setting for a reason. If it is cracked, and un-repairable, then it's simply replacing the oil cooler... I imagine with the amount of them out there, there's a few on Ebay, or you could upgrade to an aftermarket one. Mine was bunged up with road crud so badly it wasn't passing any air through and it wasn't viable to clean it, so I just used a second hand Earls oil cooler and it works fine... had to make a bracket to mount it, it was all part of the Busa project a while back... had to buy new hoses and unions from Earls directly, but it all works fine now and no problems! Maybe that's the way forward for you buddy.

(P) To be expected now with the bolts 😡 bracket looks good for trial run 👍🏻

Went in with a 3mm to get a centre, and then took it out to 5mm so I could tap out to M6

It is a "Tap" as in Tap & Die set.

That looks great all bolted on, the oil cooler looks a little bit bling for a rat rod though, are you gonna paint in black or something? One quote I actually disagree with, only because it depends how corrupt the law is =P

She's been snowed under with her own business, she's a jewellery designer by trade and it's right in the middle of wedding season, so she's flat out, but she's always here, she does all the background stuff like some of the editing and all the admin., couldn't do it all without her!
