Delbert McClinton + The Cate Brothers (full show).

Live broadcast of Delbert McClinton and his band (most of his set) plus The Cate Brothers (full set). Recorded off the television many years ago so the tape has deteriorated a bit. That's Ron Eoff playing bass for the Cate Brothers band (except for the last song where Donald "Duck" Dunn sits in). The show was taped in December of 1978.

Loved the Cate Bros back in the day but didn't really appreciate what a smokin' hot band they were too. Great footage of Delbert and the boys in concert. Many thanks for sharing this.

Saw the Cate bros. with Levon Helm in Montreal twice. The first time it was at the McGill auditorium and the second it was at a club on the West Island called Mapes I think. They were 3 feet away form me on stage the size of a drumset! Played just like they were for 10,000! Grateful to have lived to see all this talent so close up. Glad to hear the Cate Bros. are still playing. My old band used to cover Union Man!

In 1985 a friend showed me the 145 progression on a bass and many good times came of that. He also gave me a Cate Brothers album. When I heard Yield not to temptation I was so taken that it helped me to understand what playing in the pocket means. Wonderful ! As for Delbert what can I say ? Simply Amazing !

I love that there's some little kid on rhythm guitar. Who did he grow up to be? Also I love Take It Easy in G! I sing it in Bb like on the album with my band but this would be much easier to cut that vocal in.

I got to see him in Glenwood Springs, Co in the early 90' s. That night I "tried out" in the crowd and got to get up and sing with him. Wish I could remember which one. I've got it on cassette, Ha! Saw them outside Portland, Or at an outdoor concert in the late 90's. Probably in Springfield, Mo, as I saw tons of greats who came through if Chicago was on their curcuit.

Sax player is Robert Harwell, Ronnie Cobb on keys, Billy Sanders on guitar, and I think Randy Keen on the other sax. All from Fort Worth. The drummer is Ernie Durawa from San Antonio.
