Bonnie's a good friend and can still wail BIG time, well in her 60s! She was on our little reality show, just last Summer and was a fun, soulful presence. Sadly, Delaney's gone, but he made his mark and lived his love for the music. Glad to see people, here, appreciate it! Btw, I saw them open for Blind Faith a million years ago at the Baltimore Civic Center, with Dave Mason on Bass. GREAT show - I can hear it all these years later. Peace...

I'm embarrassed to say I'm just discovering their greatness - especially Bonnie and that voice. I grew up in the 60's and 70's and would here their name and thought they were a folk band. Crazy me. But now I can relive the past in these videos and only wish I was there then to crush on Bonnie in the day!

@@teaberrywmn Tell it! I live in Macon, Ga, many years ago, a late friend of mine, Don Finney, took us over to a friend of his place. A guy he used to play sax in his band with. Turned out to be Delaney's place, I believe on Tucker Road. Hate to say it, had no idea who he was, then they started playing. Talk about a what is going on moment...knew who he was after that...oh Bonnie was maid of honor at another friend's (Joe and Feathers) wedding... most of these folks are gone now or lost track of them...pity...

Lordy!!!!! The sheer amount of southern soul pouring out of Bonnie as she sings this sends chills up and down my spine for the entire number! Now, no argument, Aretha is still the Queen of Soul, but even she would be goin' Dayum!!!!!! It's a crime that Bonnie isn't more revered than she is for her phenomenal talent! At least you got me, Bon!!!

I rate DB&F as one of the best bands ever. It was certainly the best band Clapton was ever part of - and that includes Cream & Derek & the Dominoes. When you look at the musicians who played in this band at one time or another. Just off the top of my head - Clapton, Harrison, Mason, Keys, Price plus Gordon, Radle, Whitlock & the Bramletts (and I've probably forgotten a few) - just absolutely brilliant. I'm really pleased they have finally agreed to publish the book on Jim Gordon's life. He was one of the great drummers of the 60's - 70's (and there were lots of great drummers) and he led a tragic life. He needs to be remembered. I'm just pleased that we can still see their work on platforms like youtube. They live on. BTW I watched Bekka Bramlett - spitting image of her mother.

Though I cannot get a good look at the "guy in the green shirt" I am almost certain he is Bobby Whitlock, who Delaney and Bonnie recruited from Stax Records in Memphis right about the time this piece was recorded. Bobby went on to tour with Delaney and Bonnie, then became a founding member of Derek and the Dominoes with Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon--both of whom played with Delaney and Bonnie--and Duane Allman. The guy also recorded a few solo albums and recently published an autobiography.

Yeah, they were all quite young here. Bobby Whitlock's terrific vocal and keyboard contribution on the "Layla" album was very, very special, I think. Add Duane, Carl Radle's Bass, Jim Gordon on Drums... ...and then you add to that the genius producer's skills of Tom Dowd. And man, what a classic record. Ervery single track. A quintessential Blues Rock album for the ages.
