I like to think that my numerous pleas to reactors to react to them played some role. Other of my suggestions have finally been done, but not often, for example "Stalag 17." An equally inventive time travel-esque movie about preventing an atrocity is "Source Code". The ultimate timeline twister is "Primer", which has discussion boards and websites devoted to it. Then there is "The Jacket", a truly haunting and ultimately beautiful story about the chance for a "do-over." A Spanish goody is "Timecrimes" where an ordinary guy stumbles into the middle of a time travel experiment and something goes awry. Each attempt to correct things gets progressively more convoluted and catastrophic. The action sci-fi "Arc" has a couple waking up in bed during a violent home invasion-over and over again. "Safety Not Guaranteed" is an incredibly charming story about a famous urban legend where someone placed an ad in the Personals looking for a partner to go back in time with.

Same. I don't get why this movie is so underrated
Hey Daniel and Sam, what made this film resonate with me is the fact that the writers didn't take a supernatural approach to the manipulation of time. The movie took a more grounded approach to the rules of looking back at time. --------- I loved the logical concept of the time look back. We could only take a look back and apply understanding all the breadcrumbs that appear at the start of the movie. Such great script writing.
When I was little I wished Mel Gibson and Denzel Washington were my uncle's to protect me😂😂😂
The Taking of Pelham 123 should be next with Denzel and it has Travolta in it. But this is cool premise in this one
@DocMicrowave
23 сағат бұрын
Original Pelham 123 was better, imo.
Denzel: 1. John Q 2. Bone Collector
What makes this movie so intense is the absolute genius level villiany of Jim Caviezel. This depiction of a domestic terrorist is next level. His smarts piitted against Doug Carlin is like iron sharpening iron. -------- Carroll Oerstadt was not to be f#$^#ked with, my god. His belief in manifest destiny was chilling. --------- He truly believed in his mission and had the skill and committment to see it through. -------- A formiable villian always makes for a compelling action adventure drama, since we don't know what unexpected pivots they can make to achieve their goal.
Val Kilmer…The Doors!! Nuff said he was never better. And he did the singing.

Daniel your alternative ending idea is a great addition to the script becasue it give closure to the story. Time travel isn't messy. It's just that most people struggle with the concept of non-linear causality. The process they use is temporal lensing. The machine crates a portal through which they can adjust the direction of view, but it allowed them to send back the note and later Doug.

Tony Scott is a great director. You might want to look up his very first film which was called "the hunger". It's a love story in a vampire story. But these vampires are not supernatural. It had David Bowie and was beautifully shot. The movie really put him on the map. Great reaction team.

Good movie Tony Scott never got the recognition he deserved RIP
One thing about Denzel, is that the man is always 100% there. Many truly great actors slack off once they get famous or jaded, but Denzel never does - even though I don't particularly rate his Equaliser movies very highly, Denzel isn't sleepwalking his way through them. He's never given a bad performance, even in his less-good movies.
Absolutely love this film, and severely underrated.
I love Deja Vu, I must have seen it like 50 times since it was released. It's such a guilty pleasure of mine. Tony Scott really knew how to pace a movie and keep you engaged with what was going on. Time travel stuff is always cool to me and this is one of my favourites

I consider this the first movie, in my own personal Tony Scott/Denzel Washington triple feature. The other two being, The Taking of Pelham 123 and Unstoppable.
A very underrated time travel movie. One of the most original concepts too.
I remember this movie came out shortly after "the Passion of the Christ". It was interesting (yet also bizarre) watching Jim Caviezel portray both divine holiness and a Timothy McVeigh-like terrorist during this time.
Deja Vu is probably my favorite Denzel movie!
My uncle looks like a Cherokee Denzel Washington lol, jokes aside he’s one of my favorite actors he puts his heart and soul in his roles.
Paula Patton is in Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.

This is one of those movies that I used to watch every time it came on TV lol. It's such an easily re-watchable movie. That and Denzel is my favorite actor. This is one of his more underappreciated movies along with another one of my favorites of his - Inside Man with Denzel and Clive Owen.
The first time I watched this movie I was like Sam forgetting about time travel and fearing the Jim Caviezel would catch on and still be able to complete his terror act. ---------- PLus the movie was not cool for show the happy families, women and servicemen on shore leave having the best time of their lives before getting obilterated in a hail of explosive fire. Tony Scott did us dirty there. --------- To wrap it up I tear up as Doug tries to tell her the most important thing she will ever hear.
The Déjà Vu-Dad Joke at the beginning was awesome. 🤣 I thought it was a cutting mistake or my connection gets lost so the buffering tricked me.
Hey I wanted to share something that alot of people don't know! In the movie aliens, the woman that plays Vasquez is the same woman who plays John Conner's foster mom in terminator 2 !!!!
Maybe an underrated movie but I will recommend again "Courage Under Fire" with Denzel, his performance in that is amazing.
I think this is one of those underrated movies that should have gotten more love from audiences when it was released. It is fun to watch and rewatch, which makes it a classic.
Hey Daniel and Sam, I'm so glad you guys were about to experience the intensity and cleverness of DeJa'Vu. I asked you guys to check this one out since you watched "Crimson Tide" and as you can see it did not disappoint. ---------- I love this reaction channel, because you guys watch movies not to follow the algorithm, rather you watch movies for the love of a great story. I loved this movie when it came out, but for some reason it was never a big hit. -------- I do think Daniel's alternate ending suggestion would have made the story feel more complete. Great reaction once again.
Some recommendations/connections: Frequency (2000) is another great time travel thriller and Jim Caviezel is also in that one; Fallen (1998) is a great, underrated thriller with Denzel; and both were directed by the same guy Gregory Hoblit who also directed Primal Fear, and that one you've already seen...
If you want some great Kilmer - go with SPARTAN. This one flies under the radar for most folks but it is great. Written and directed by the writer of RONIN and the Untouchables. I personally think its one of Kilmer's best.
The Siege with Denzel Washington & Salton Sea with Val Kilmer are both good but often overlooked movies as well
This was a great movie. There is another movie I saw many years ago with a VERY similar premise. "Frequency" from 2000. Starring Dennis Quaid. In fact, while writing this comment I looked up Frequency to get an exact date on the film. When I noticed in the cast there was a familiar face. Jim Caviezel! He was the protagonist in Frequency. In Deja Vu he is the antagonist. Both movies are basically a crime drama that involves time travel. I wonder how coincidental that is. Both a great movies!
Alright! I love this movie. Not many people care about it but I've always loved it since I first saw it.

I am so happy you are reacting to this movie! It is so overlooked!
Another time travel movie you guys might like is one of my favorites, The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.
If you want to see peak Jim Caviezel check out 2000s Frequency with Dennis Quaid. Very well executed cat and mouse sci fi thriller, especially since you two are parents now it’ll hit home! Sticking with Denzel, Unstoppable…. his final film with Tony Scott is a great watch!
A very timey whimey ending as Denzel's character wouldn't have to go back in time to prevent the bombing when his future self prevented the bombing.
