I use one of these D4 mics in a vehicle using a suction cup mount. I use the included usbc to usbc cable to connect to the usbc port on a DJI Osmo Action 3 camera, used as a dash cam. This combination works perfectly--auto on/off from the camera and I have the mic very close to my mouth/chest to minimize road noise pickup in a moving vehicle. I've also used a data+PD usbc extension cord between the mic and Action 3 in another setup, and that works fine also. Great buy. Great review, also, by the way. Nice work.

Thank you for sharing your experience. So far, I'm really enjoying using the V-Mic D4. It's been fantastic with all of my cameras! The only two drawbacks to this microphone are its low gain when connected to a computer and its poor quality windmuff. If I'm going to film outside more, I'll probably need to buy a new windmuff. Curious to hear if you learned in the meantime if there is a way to make the Deity work better with a computer (Macbook) via usb-c? Pretty weird the sound is so low. Perhaps a firmware update might do the trick? Moreover, is there a way to use it digitally via a lightning port to an iPhone (13 Pro) to your knowledge? Thanks a bunch for the good review. Very helpful and professional.

As far as I know, this microphone is still too quiet when connected to a computer. You can also connect to an iPhone without a problem, but you'll need the 3.5mm lightning adaptor.

There is no such thing as the best microphone for all use cases. However, if you need a fairly versatile microphone. Then you should think about using a Lavalier microphone (either with an audio recorder, smartphone or a wireless system).

Is it going to work without a battery when connected to a pc as a USB mic? Can it be powered via usb when connect to a pc?

Yes. I just tested it with my MacBook M1 and it works without using a battery..

Rode is better since I don't have to worry about battery. Sold on that.
