If you made a dehydrated meal cookbook I would 100% buy it. I'm vegetarian so I appreciate your creative vegan meals. In said theoretical book it would be great to see a mix of home made meals in a dehydrator as well as meals that are made by combining some prepackaged ingredients such as dried beans, pasta, ramen, etc.

Echoing this sentiment. Love recipe ideas for dehydrating!
I love that Miranda in the Wild feels like a blog, and not a company's show with product placements. I didn't even know this was REI's channel until I scrolled down here!

Also raw onions.
So glad you liked and profiled my date sugar suggestion! I just made dehydrated oatmeal with cinnamon-date puree. Here's the recipe: in a small crockpot: lightly oil the crockpot; mix 4 cups water with 1 cup steel cut oats, 1/4 tsp salt. Cook in crockpot 3-4 hours. Soak 16-20 pitted dates in hot water, just covered. After the dates soften and cool, puree dates and soaking water with 1 tsp+ cinnamon. Mix the puree into the cooked oatmeal. Divide into 4 servings on lined dehydrator trays. Enjoy!

Love this! What a great way to substitute processed sugar. Thanks for sharing!
Neat tips, I WILL try the soup. One of my favorite things to dehydrate is corn. Take a one pound bag of cheap frozen sweet corn and dehydrate it until it releases from the screen or parchment. It will be all shriveled up for sure. Then using a dry pan like a wok you roast it it until it swells back up and you smell roasted corn. That will pull out the natural sugars from the corn. Lay it out on a backing sheet to cool and keep it in a air tight bag. Instant energy for a snack and you can add in a few green peas using the same process and if you like sprinkle in some curry powder or other spices to taste. This is Parched Corn that was used for centuries as trail food. You can even grind it up and mix it with instant milk and butter powder to make grits, I have mixed it with melted brown sugar to make a morning mush that is packed with energy to get you going. Try it.
I’ve been waiting so long for this episode. I’ve got my coffee and I’m ready to watch! Miranda and team deserve raises, just throwing that out there.
More dehydrated foods, please! Yum. Also, preparing your own meals, instead of buying prepackaged, is very environmentally friendly.
Don't knock your cooking show skills. It's your cooking show, gosh darn, not Babish's. Besides he never added water to a pot with a Nalgene. That's next level there. :)
More of this please! Would love to see what they look like rehydrated, too.
My grandma who is Native taught me to make “warrior bars”. Which are bison, huckleberries, granola

Yes! Thank you so much! This gives me so many ideas for how I can make some delish foods for myself. I have a very, very strict diet due to some crazy food intolerances and this gives me so much hope for being able to eat sustainably while backpacking. Thank you :)
I would love more dehydrated meal ideas! I love all these recipes and I can't wait to try them!
This is amazing! More diy dehydrated backpacking meals please 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Yes please! More videos. I just saw this and I’m actually prepping my garden and this would be lovely to have some ideas of what and how to dehydrate the leftovers. Thanks so much! A huge fan and very new to all of this.
I bought a dehydrator just for backpacking! More recipes, please!

wow that is amazing, thank you so much!
Yes, more dehydrating meal demos please. I've been dehydrating for about 30 years for camping, backpacking and canoe trips. Always looking for new ideas. One of my favorite dehydrated meals is Corned Beef and Cabbage. Dehydrated cake is wonderful. Joke: if you put instant coffee in a microwave oven, will you go back in time?
Aaaah! Just what I needed!!!!
Awesome video (as always)!
Love this video and would love to see more recipes

More dehydrated food please. This was awesome
Lmao… I commented on another video about this exact concept.. I guess I need to do my homework before commenting next time! Thanks for posting this, I would love to see more as you progress through the years! 🙌🏻
.. Great thing about a dehydrator ,, when planning an outing , about 2 weeks before just dehydrate any meal leftovers from daily meals ,, especially if your single ,, don't have to make special batches ... Dehydrate then vacuum seal ,, put in fridge until needed .. .. using a dehydrator is kinda fun ,, jerky ,, fruit roll ups for the kids ,, dried fruit slices .. just about anything edible .. ..And agree ☆☆ ..add seasonings when re-hydrating ...

Leftovers? My kids never leave any. 😂 And when I dehydrate fruit to have as snack on the trail......they eat it as candy in the tv-couch! Can't really complain though, they prefer fruit before candy. 🤔😉

@@elinordahlstrand9342 ...lol...I guess on occasion you'll have to make a double helping of what you might like on trail or camp...maybe not have it in sight until they've gone to bed ... but it is good to know there are children out there not going to bed hungry ..👍🙃🙏
