Nice video. The only mistake you made is that you diluted the degreaser in water ( hot water,for the worst,led to decomposition of the degreaser!) . A degreaser is supposed to be used as it is. If you dilute then apply, you would have reduced its strength to cut grease more than a half. Am commenting as a detergents formulations chemist from Kenya. Thanks

That's awesome. I live in a 12 unit highrise. I'm on disability so an organization takes money off my rent. My problem is I got my full deposit back on last apt. Then I switched with same landlord. Nobody cleaned my kitchen (or did much else.) Being a 113 lb (Sry dont know conversion for Kenya, America doesnt like change, haha.) Anyway I'm super vf tiny with a bad heart & lungs. I Cannot get strength to scrub off 4 mm grease off underside of faucet, and the underside of my oven is a nightmare. There were a family of spiders living there off insects caught in grease around feet of stove/oven, and abt an entire persons head of hair stick within the grease. I tell you the truth, I told landlord, I left MY STOVE AND FAUCET nice - nice, and she left me that. I'm so disgusted I only use microwave. Kitchen it tiny anyway, only a 3ft food prep area. So I covered top with a dry erase board I had specifically cut as I had no where to sit coffee pot, etc. I got 1 outlet in entire kitchen! Ugh. Everyone thinks Americans are rich, but trust me, after getting chronically sick, I lol when I hear how rich we all are. I cant even afford a stand or kitchen table. Anyway, my landlord is forcing me to clean someone else's mess....any suggestions? I've gone thru so many products. I've even wiped cupboards with steel...(it works if they are smooth.) I wont be reimbursed for however many products I buy. So any suggestions for hair sticking to grease behind stove? Grease 4mm thick under faucet? There is grease everywhere. I like apt but this stove is attracting beetles that like hair and cotton, etc. So I guess I have to do it. I'd rather she remove it so I can save for a microwave cart but the ppl who help pay my rent in America INSIST you have a stove, screens with holes, carpet no one ever steam cleaned, etc. I always see all my neighbors throw away all their furniture and move. Now I know why. She never paints (only spot paints) or cleans carpets. So now I've had to draaaaaaaggg (literally) 1/2 of my craft supplies (cotton material, yarn, etc, to the dumpster. Baking soda is a good baked-on-grease cutter. When cleaning, it should not be mixed with vinegar, because vinegar is an acid and baking soda is a base. When combined, they neutralize each other, which renders them ineffective. The mixture produces water + carbon dioxide + a salt compound: NaHCO3 + HC2H3O2 → NaC2H3O2 + H2O + CO2. Best not to mix them until you want to neutralize the baking soda.

The difference could be just down to the different water temperatures ?? Also spraying the degreaser onto the water seems wrong, should spray it directly onto the filter and add water later. Baking soda and vinegar seemed to work well though.

if you're using degreaser you don't dilute it, use full strength works great. I've used vinegar and water too both do a good job but vinegar and water doesn't have all the toxins that the degreasers do. don't see the point of using pots of boiling water especially if your using degreaser, not a good idea.

Patsy Chavez Vinegar is not a surfactant. It cannot cut or dissolve grease. Ever see a bottle of oil and vinegar salad dressing? Two layers.

Make sure to soak it thoroughly and in boiling water but be careful

I find just using boiling hot water and washing detergent works well but interesting test I degreaser works well on thin oil and grease but it takes many goes when the grease or oil is thick, were you can use a paint scraper to remove the bulk and blast the rest with boiling hot water, using warm water won't lift it.

Thanks for watching but what cream are you referring to? If it's the degreaser then you can buy it at any hardware store or on Amazon.

I have those exact same filters. All you have to do is place it in the bottom of the sink with the stopper in. sprinkle generously with baking soda and pour straight vinegar over it. It will fizz and come clean "instantly", no scrubbing. Don't use water to dilute.

I soak mine in a mix of TSP and hot water. No scrubbing really needed. 15 minutes each side. Then rinse.

Oven spray takes the trophy lol you boiled the soda combo and the degreaser was diluted in all that water so eeeeeeeh lol Oven spray, warm up the oven, turn it off and spray it . Let a few minutes go by and clean with hard sponge and rinse . winner lol

Ya sometimes its good to use home cleaning remedies like for furniture polish i use coconut oil mixed with lemon juice then wipe with a micro fiber and it cleans better than the chemical stuff

What if moisture gets on that and then it drops into the food you are cooking? I found a better and easier method and that is to put it in the dish washer with heated dry.

It used be real cheap, back in the day, used as a paint thinner and cleaning agent for oil paint on brushes, etc. I just tried it today, on the top of a cupboard where grease from the nonworking oven vent has let it accumulate along with the dust. Worked instantly and easily.

I should've time the boiling effect better for the video but the effectiveness remains the same was my point

- 3 suggestions - 1- pretty sure by boiling the toxic degreaser those toxins were then being release into your lungs while breathing in the toxic air / vapors. 2- pretty sure you shouldn't be boiling stuff like this at all. 3- if you want to boil anything like this again, try using the side burner of an "outdoor" grill instead of your kitchen where it's releasing God knows what into the air your family will be breathing in. Lol, he used luke warm water in the degreaser pan and didn't have it turned on to heat. Listen to what he says in the beginning. I agree with everything you said, but it doesn't apply in this situation since he wasn't actually heating the degreaser. He placed the filter in luke warm water inside the pan.

I agree. I worked for a bbq house and we had to use oven cleaner daily and I stayed sick with bronchitis/ bronical pneumonia. I have COPD so I have to be careful of what cleaners to use. May have to hjre someone

What are the instructions on the degreaser? Does it say to put the filter in a pan of water? Too, the degreaser is TOXIC for you and the environment. Jay you might want to check out other videos because you are working just to darn hard. There are easier ways.

All you need to do is put them in a ziploc bag put some ammonia in it for about a hour or 2 or even overnight lay it flat outside and flip it about every 1/2 hr or so ..and they will look brand new after there rinsed off.

Not a great comparison video considering the solutions you used weren't used in the same way (one was heated, and the other completely dilluted) and I see that you did scrub them a little, but you didn't even rinse them off to show the finished result of both cleaning solutions. I was under the impression this video would show us a fair comparison between using the homemade cleaner versus a store bought degreaser, and I'm sorry but your video Failed to show that completely. I hate wasting my time watching someone's video that claims to be helpful to viewers, and address their needs based on their search terms and your video title, only to have watched the whole thing and come to the conclusion that you just like the attention, clearly. Ridiculous and not helpful at all.
