Deftones Baritone 7-String Through The Axe Fx III! Massive Cygnus Tones!

Thanks for watching this brand new episode of Jon's Tone Chronicles! In this episode we explore massive 7-string baritone tones with my ESP LTD SC-607B Stephen Carpenter (Deftones) model, the old one with the EMGs and the Fractal Audio Axe Fx III on fw16.04 Cygnus. The 412 DZL V30 from the OwnHammer Heavy Hitters Collection was used for the cab sounds.

This Esp LTD 607b has alder body (not mahogany) wings and neckthrough maple neck. That's why it bites and has huge clarity. Nice video. I enjoy your videos every time.

Hmmm I'm not sure since this model has had various types of body woods. Maple, alder and Mahogany. You could be right though but it sounds like Mahogany to me... Thanks Btw!

Very nice preset, thanks! I also applied output EQ in the Amp section (I have no EQ on my monitors) with a bit higher lows and highs to make the sound more vivid. Sounds fantastic.

it will be very cool if you sometimes post DIs of different guitars, they are very rare on the Internet, but this is practically the only way to listen to the instrument adequately

Sounds wise, there's no question the AxeFX, as well as other modellers, sound as good as physical amps. Feel wise, yeah same there IMO. But usability wise, I find there's just something so satisfying when dealing with physical knobs and switches. I find that I actually play waaay more when playing with a physical amp. With the AxeFX I was constantly tweaking settings, had to fire up the AxeEdit as well for doing changes. There was just this.. disconnect between the music, and the interaction with the gear, with the AxeFX. Obviously, this is very personal and different for different people. So this is just my experience :) Anyway, great playing as always. Sounds killer!

Wow, I always thought you were American, with an accent somewhere from the south... But are you Dutch, or just live in The Netherlands? As always, great tone! I have definitely stolen important ideas for my Helix presets from your videos hehe. A quick doubt though: how do you program your drums? Do you go through the midi editor note by note for every song, or just roll it through a midi keyboard? I'd love to see a video about your workflow. I'm not a good keyboard drummer (although I could do the midi drums through an electric drums set, I don't own one), so I program everything the hard way... And because I'm a bit of a sloth, one song takes ages to be ready haha. (Another doubt: is OwnHammer owned by you? I love the IRs!) Cheers from a Brazilian in Thailand!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm Dutch but my father is from England. I'm going to make a video about how I program my drums soon. I always program everything by hand with the mouse. I don't own OwnHammer no. Just affiliated. Cheers

@William Santos Just a little English help. I think the word you were looking for was "question" where you wrote "doubt." Doubt means being uncertain about something, which sort of makes sense with what you're trying say, but yeah, you wanna say "question." Cheers 🤘

  • @wilssantos2

@@majesticpbjcat7707 I truly meant doubt though. Because I suspected he programmed the drums by mouse in the midi editor (like I do, and as was the case). But there was still the possibility of him programming them using an external input, such as a midi keyboard, a hypothesis which could not have been ruled out. So not totally a "question", but a "doubt". And a quick one, at that. Thanks for the tip, though. I'll pass it on... :)
