Jonah Foss and Mead Gill were tasked with creating a unique space within the constraints of a double room with a shared bathroom at the University of Washington. By shifting the arrangement and configuration of modular furniture and opting for natural and incandescent lighting instead of fluorescent, they were able to create a space that felt open and inviting, on a budget of essentially zero.
With additional features like the utility recess (literally cramming the corner of the room with the fridge and trash cans) and the southeast-facing winds (which was an absolute win), Room 740 was transformed into one of the cleanest and relaxing spaces on the University of Washington campus.

Everything about this is fantastic and so well produced! Favourite line has got to be "there are five inconveniently and arbitrarily located outlets" over the soft NTS instrumentals 😂

well… they were inconvenient. glad to see another NTS community member here, the relationship between my roommate and I was built on a lot of videos that looked like these!
Def small…but looks bigger than most dorms at schools like umich Cool video / dorm tour! Love the style and editing

how come that same room is labeled to be 213 sqft on the floor plan

dang, you did your research. I was eyeballing it when I did the calculations so it might be 213 and I just didn't know
