We try our best to defeat Umbra in Morrowind! Can we accomplish it at Level 1? Do we prepare for the fight adequately? Will Umbra be harder then Vivec? Maybe...

I beat Umbra at level 1 in Oblivion. Here's how: I went to her ruin thing, and shot her with an arrow. Then I ran like hell, she followed. I swam across the water back to the imperial city and hopped on top of the roofs in the Waterfront district. I bounced around on them because she'd eventually be able to hit me if I stood still. Guard after guard came out and tried to attack her, i'd get in shots with the occasional arrow if I could. I think it took about half an hour.

All you do to get to umbra is use the standard rising force potion that you find in the adamasartus bandit cave near sedya neen. Go to suran and head to the outside door on the top level of the slave master house and levitate diagonally to the left over the hill and there's umbra. You can even cheese him by shooting arrows at him on the hill behind where he stands and he can't attack you.

Conjuration + Bound Long Bow + a large stack of arrows (Fighter's Guild offers them like free candy) works wonders. In the vanilla version you could also make a Calm Humanoid 1p spell (long duration) to completely pacify him. This way you could attack him without him even trying to attack back. Some of patches fixes the exploit with Calm effects, but back in the day, you could go crazy with them.

If you want to get op at level 1, the best way I’ve found is to first get the ebony from the mine near balmora, then go to ebonheart and start tribunal, then you do this quest(forgot the name) where that person kills the high ordinator in godsreach, unlocking the door with ekash’s lock splitter, then finally getting a daedric dai katana from the egg mine near mount assarnibibi (I think that’s how you spell it)

I managed to pull this feat off eons ago before KZread existed, lol. Made an argonian warrior to max out the polearm skill as much as I could, then picked up a few Steel Halberds in Ald'Rhun (I think that's how it's spelled) and some kind of throwable/ranged weapon. Got up on the rocks behind where Umbra stands, used ranged attack to aggro him, then stood just out of his reach up on the rocks and poked him to death. Took like 20 damn minutes and broke 2 of the halberds in the process, but I had his sword at level 1 afterwards. Yeah, it's incredibly cheesy/exploity but given the ass beating he can dish out, I consider it evening the odds, lul

when it comes to umbra i just use a longblade/marksman character then pop a scroll of windwalking and throw darts at him till he falls over, suran has a couple of merchants that give you access to some really good throwing knives and darts and if you have high strength you can typically take him down pretty fast.

Do the Seyda Neen quests, go clean up Tarhiel's mess, shake down Caius, gank ra'virr, grab the Sword of White Woe, buy a crossbow and as many bolts as I can get, then jump on a the tall rock near Umbra and shoot him to death. Then i go to vivec, st Olms waistworks then into the plaza then into the haunted manor then i use the tower key to unlock the door (in the haunted manor). Then i talk to Dram Bero and tell him about the location on Vassir Didanant Cave and i choose the daedric axe (because it does the most damage). Then i go to Umbra, drink about 15 sujamma, get drunk and 1 shot him.

I never understood the Orcs' Berserk power. Fortify Health 20 and Fatigue 200 makes sense but what's the point of Fortify Attack 100 and Drain Agility 100? It increased chance to hit it cancelled out by the drop in Agility, you chance to dodge physical attacks only plummets.
@NtheHecker

Well, the +100 attack is much more powerful than the drop in agility. So that makes sense. The real problem is that you get knocked down by every flea bite when your agility is 0 in addition to getting hit way more easily. Your damage taken also seems to increase a lot when you are down on the ground. Therefore most beserking orcs end up permastunned followed by death.

He gave me hell in Skyrim playing exclusively with archery weapons. Tbf I did fight him at a rather low level, and it requires as much cheesing as possible to take him down by jumping to areas he would need to run around the long way to reach me so I could pop off some explosive bolts while that dip-shit had to run all the way around to get to me.
I want to thank you a lot! Ive started playing TES series from Oblivion - much love for Skyrim, BUT because of your videos ive actually purchased Morrowind in steam and finished it - and its THE BEST TES ever! If it wasnt up for you i would never even tried it! Thank you so much for helping me discover this gem of RPG genre!

what i love about umbra is that everything he said he did in his life is actually believable. the dude is a one-man army by base game morrowind standards and could probably kill the tribunal and dagoth ur easily if he ever felt so inclined. compare with sjoring hard-heart, "one of the strongest men in morrowind", i've fought reanimated bones tougher than him.

Umbra is basically Stormbringer from Elric of Melnibone.
The fact that you actually got lost in Wolverine Hall is hilarious. I guess it really does happen to everyone.

I'm pretty sure "Umbra" is the sword. People take it on as an identity. Might be related to the "soul strap" enchant on it. From a lore point of view.

Umbra is the sword but eventually consumes the mind of whoever wields it and absorbs their consciousness it is basically the combined souls of all its wielders making a new entity known as "Umbra" it's why it uses the name.

Umbra is based on Stormbringer from Elric of Melnibone.
Fought umbra for like 2 hours constantly reloading at level 6 and I didnt even know it was umbra
Actually in house where Creeper is you can get few pieces of an Orcish Armor. These are in the box placed on the last floor. Orcs actually don't give a damn about those items

Your videos are awesome! Great work, and I love that they are under 15 minutes
Not a failure or a trainwreck. You did it! FYI you can grab a full set of bonemould armor in Aldrhun, in the structure closest to the silt strider (call pot in the back) iirc it's been a decade since I played.
It's funny how he never noticed that his own Frost Attronach was killing him.
I love that you now know to pick The Tower for these kinds of videos :D
"I'll be an orc so I can use berserk...." Might have come in handy XD
Pro tip: If you go to Ald'Ruhn, in the guard towers some of the crates/barrels have a full set of bonemold in them that you can take without any bounty
I beat umbra at Level 7... my best record ever back in 2004, I remember writing it down and framing it. Awarded myself way before YT was this big and was changed forever... old (former) KZread = best KZread. Glad to see you do this video m8... bloody good attempt
All your Morrowind videos are giving me the itch to play again. I used to play it on the Xbox, it took a while to load some stuff and it would crash every so often but boy did I enjoy every second I played. I might have to buy on Steam soon.
Honestly I’m surprised your mind doesn’t snap during some of these challenge runs, and just use the stat bug to make yourself an eternal god that 1 shots anything.
I'm alittle late and you probably know this now. But the sujamma seller with the restocking inventory can buy all your sujammas and add it to their restocking inventory. So with a little time of buying and selling sujamma she'll always stock more than you'd ever need.
Mickies challenges be like: 1. Take axe 2. Kill Ra'virr 3.Creeper 4. Sujamma 5. Profit

A shame he hasn't discovered Soul Trap and spell making yet.
First time I beat umbra was with a mage and I just levitated out of his reach and spammed fireballs at him.
If you want to get op at level 1, the best way I’ve found is to first get the ebony from the mine near balmora, then go to ebonheart and start tribunal, then you do this quest(forgot the name) where that person kills the high ordinator in godsreach, unlocking the door with ekash’s lock splitter, then finally getting a daedric dai katana from the egg mine near mount assarnibibi (I think that’s how you spell it)
For stuff like this you really want to have a potion and scroll of sanctuary so he misses.
I would be very interested in also seeing a LV 1 Umbra challenge in Oblivion from you.
This is giving me so many flashbacks...
Who would win in a fight, Umbra or Vivec? The real answer is Nerevar.
And then he said ''Take me to Suran, my man''. Funniest shit I've ever heard.
Use levitate and hit on the rocks nearby while hitting him with greater shockball
The fastest way to get fat cash is to do the first balmoral mages guild quest, then when you get the one to put the fake soulgem in Galbedir's desk, steal all the soul gems she has lying on the table and take em to the Creeper That's like 15k gold in 20 minutes
Nuuuuuuuu! You killed Mister Floofers! He was such a good kitty 😭😭😭
my wires got crossed and i thought callmekevin was making morrowind videos
I once got umbra to run into lava and i just levitated and collected his shit.
I would always buy hundreds of arrows and climb upon the rock behind Umbra and kill him. He usually can't get up the sides.
I killed him by luring into a Lava river down the road... xD

This was difficult to watch until you did the ingenious sujamma thing at the end.

Cool
not the orc is called umbra its the sword it posses him
3:04 yeah I remember taking on Umbra in oblivion. I recollect me just finding her without any quests, and it was at a point where I had at best steel armor at level 3. Yeah, it took me 20 or more tries before I killed her by spamming arrows
9:50 Umbra: C-C-C-Combo breaker!!!
It's pretty easy to kill the Royal Guard in Mournhold on level 1 and take his neat armor. You just need to buy scribs, and they will keep him paralyzed while you bash him. The perfect place for that is the Palace Courtyard, there is only one guard there. And you can get away with just 40 bounty if you're lucky,
Fortouzend gold ✨💛
No one goes to AL Druhn if your going medium. The guard towers have full sets of them
*breaks ankle* "Your Acrobatics skill increased to 6."
Morrowind Ra'Virr% Speedrun
When I was a kid I would start a lot of games by stealing a bunch of arrows and levitating onto a rock and VERY slowly killing him.
from the manor with creeper theres a room thats got orcish armor and they dont report your crime if you take it...
For early money, i always steel that expensive tray in the shelf right next to the the guy giving you your papers. I steal it and imediately drop it. The guard will let it slide, because you're not even out of the tutorial and after the dialogue you can just pick it up again. It sells for like 650 Gold which is a lot in the beginning. I also kind of expected you to steal the Orcish Armor from Creeper's house while you were there anyway.

You can get really good gear from Dren plantation. No need for that summoned fake daedric weapons. Thats how ive defeated umbra at lvl 1 for fun with redguard.
bruh anything using a twohanded weapon is this game is the bane of my existance XD
You can steal bone armor in tower of Balmora guards.
Umbra aka Stormbringer
if instead of using the diologue option, i think if you just started the fight further away and blasted spell If umbra targeted the frosty boy for even a moment it would work
I did that yesterday…i’m new to the game so i saved and summoned every summon i have and on my third try i killed him… I didn’t know it was a big deal😂😂😭
shashev in aldruhn has a really good ring with paralysis and poison damage you can kill him for i used the ring to kill umbra at like level 3 with mediocre equipment
This was one of the first things I did on any new playthrough. Do the Seyda Neen quests, go clean up Tarhiel's mess, shake down Caius, gank ra'virr, grab the Sword of White Woe, buy a crossbow and as many bolts as I can get, then jump on a the tall rock near Umbra and shoot him to death. I think that only works on Xbox though, PC Umbra tends to freak out and run all over the place, Xbox Umbra will just run into the wall.
There's like half a set of orcish armor in the Creeper building
The only way I managed to take down umbra for the first time was abusing a Jinxblade I found. Literally the only time I’ve used paralysis before lmao
You should try battling bosses as a mage and seeing how that goes
I found an easier method well kinda. First i make m character (main weapons: axe longbade ect. Second i do the same thing as you (kill ravirr and sell his items). Then i go to Balmora and go to Vassir Didanat mine. After that i get some sujamma. Then i go to Umbra, drink about 15 sujamma, get drunk and 1 shot him.
there is a stone near him - you only need a spear for the reach
Should have bought a levitation potion my man. Good video though.
You have to spam health potions like crazy while attacking to prolong until death.
I used to start my playthroughs like this, but I used to just get a bow and arrows and safespot him.
Dude killed Umbra just by the sheer power of piss he held in his bladder. Imagine drinking 26 bottles of strongest brandy and a bunch of other potions and not going to the toilet.
i remember i couldnt beat him when i first met him. So i stood on the Rock right behind him. I could hit him but he couldnt hit me. Thats how i won. ;)
Take him from higher ground use long range weapons spells because sometimes he gets stuck trying to reach you
love these vids, but the fact that you never steal the Limeware platter bothers me
Theres no way this isnt callmekevin talking
The Morrowind npcs are easier too look at than the oblivion npcs
Omg I had to open my saves because I killed this dude and I'm no lore or morrowind guy. But apparently I killed him between level 4 to 7. I remember running around him in circles and killing him. I also suck
Well, I have played that game so much, but I have never used sujama... never realized how powerful it was. Actually, I think I may have used it solely as a way to loot Dungeons and get all the loot back in one trip like a feather potion. Feel kind of silly
At least you can't say the Irishman is "dry"
The only bad thing about your videos is there's not enough of them.
one word: agility
Alchemy... Intelligent potion and then strength. Break a glass sword over her skull with one hit. Or use steel throwing stars purchased from Wayne in balmora
@NtheHecker
3 жыл бұрын
Well, the +100 attack is much more powerful than the drop in agility. So that makes sense. The real problem is that you get knocked down by every flea bite when your agility is 0 in addition to getting hit way more easily. Your damage taken also seems to increase a lot when you are down on the ground. Therefore most beserking orcs end up permastunned followed by death.
Just started watching this but based off old videos ur gonna unleash your ancient irish powers and get piss drunk amd fuck his shit up
lol first time I ran into this guy I was like level 6 and nearly dead and returning to town. Guards will fight him.

did this at level 2-3 with a crossbow and a pile of bolts very slowly
