I think it is a very important topic ,as the mind is just like a mirror it doesn't have any intelligence on its own, but heart does. Heart is where we can feel that we are doing something wrong even though we may do it anyway because we are used to listening to our minds . When I sit down to do "nothing" for an hour, I can see very clearly how my mind is full of stuff that happened recently and trying to get my attention with it, but my heart loves the peace of doing nothing. So if the peace is my goal, which it is, then the heart is what I have to follow.. Great video, thank you 🙏 .

I think it is perhaps (like Saif said) to sidestep the classical notion / association of thoughts with the brain etc. and remove the cerebral aspect of what underlies one's experience. In that sense, perhaps heart is a good way to signify an alternate 'source' of 'things'. Maybe it is not so important that it be the heart (as a body organ) and any such substitute would do? For instance in some cultures the liver is believed to be the seat of emotions. Others yet use the 'gut feel' as a placeholder for something that is known but inexplicable intellectually. In either case, people recognize that is lies 'beyond reach' and is fundamentally inaccessible to one's control. (e.g. sayings like 'the heart wants what the heart wants') Whichever organ is used as a representative, the idea that it's 'state' precedes what is 'experienced' is likely the principle to be clarified and understood. The one drawback with 'heart' is that it can tend to be paired up as "heart &soul" as you already pointed out, and that is to be avoided. 🙏

Observing the mind and body help to understand the selflessness of feelings and emotions. Also, it shows the progress of the mind and body. It helps to develop Samadhi/stillness in the mind easily. Samadhi protects the mind, and greatly helps to receive a good rebirth.
