Deep Purple blew people away!! They were way above the others! I think Ian Paice if not better was close to John Bonham of ZEP at that time, My favorite group. I grew up with these guys!

Yes i agree. Saw Deep Purple perform in 1972 Machine Head tour. And i was lucky enough to see Emerson Lake and Palmer at Long Pond Pa. Poconos Rock Fest in 1972. E.L.P. even cut an album on this live concert. Will never forget either of these concerts.

That's right if you already haven't check Ritchie out in Wring That Neck and Mandrake Root Live in Bilzen 1969. He has his guitar screaming for mercy.

There were no lazy guitar solos here! Maybe he and the crowd were compatible! Ritchie Blackmore can be described as unpredictable…and no amps suffered any irreparable damage…this time! This was 1973 ,…not 1975 ? Presumably not long before Gillan and Glover departed.

Deep Purple is absolutely the best hard rock band of all time! Having said that, this was only 3 songs, not a full concert, each song was edited in some way, and big chunks were cut out. I think it may have been done for a TV show at the time. Regardless, you can certainly feel the power and electricity generated by Purple on stage. Nobody could touch them in a live setting ... live performance was their strength, as is evidenced by their Made In Japan album, which I believe to be the best live album of all time. Next Deep Purple song should be Lazy (either studio or live), followed by Hard Lovin' Man, followed by Pictures of Home, followed by No No No (studio version). Cheers!

The real shame is this gig footage is heavily edited and only a snippet of their greatness. Love the reaction. There is a full 1972 gig from Copenhagen, Denmark worth watching.

The crowd was very modern, free and enjoying the band, some earlier recordings they were afraid of expressing themselves. There was even a guy doing Air Guitar, I doubt the term had even been invented at the time. I was a Deep Purple fan even before I was a rock-n-roll fan, I was about 12 when this was recorded. I wish I would have known that music wasn't going to get much better.

This was singer Ian Gillan's farewell tour. Later that year, 29 June, In Osaka, Japan, he announced that gig to be his last with Deep Purple. Part of that concert was released as a bootleg under the title "Final Trucking" which has Gillan's farewell speech.

I was in a RUSH tribute band in college. Our rhythm guitarist, Randy, wanted to play Smoke on the Water so bad he could taste it. Day after day, week after week, he asked for the song, but it just didn't fit in our set. This caused a lot of division. Our audience wanted us to play RUSH and nothing else. Finally, Randy quit and formed his own band. The only gig that they got was to play in a battle of the bands. Randy finally got to play his song. His band didn't win, but neither did ours. Our band, however, was the only one to get an encore that night. I am proud of that.

Don’t forget Jon lord on Hammond organ.. and thank you for reacting to this..I’ve been waiting a long time for someone to react to this, and by the way this is not the full concert this whole show was filmed by abc tv and was edited down to a half hour to fit on a TV show that was on back in 1973 called in concert unfortunately the whole concert doesn’t exist.

Keith Moon and Ian Pace, the best drummers of that era. Ian Gillian was a great singer, pity he didn´t took care of his voice. Otherwise great concert. Let me recommend listening to some tracks that have been neglected by them, Fools and Demon´s eye.

Both Deep Purple bassists, Roger Glover and Glenn Hughes, just do not get enough love. They are both so damn good. For anyone who's curious, Glenn Hughes is performing with The Dead Daisies now. They just dropped a seriously kick-ass album that I cannot recommend enough. The album is called _Holy Ground._ So worth your time!!

Elok... I think you can say this is your favorite band.. This is the first time you did a full concert reaction to Deep Purple or any band. Well Welcome.. its mine as well... I think today the entire audience has hearing aids because being they were one of the loudest bands in history and it looks like a small enclosed venue. You know they left the concert. Ears ringing but smiles on there faces... Thats all that mattered.. The five greatest musical masters didn't disappoint

Hi Elok. Another great choice and reaction as usual. I think it's time for you to start branching out a bit, as there's such a huge back catalogue for you to discover, from the late 1960s onwards. It's a daunting task, but an exciting one, as you're going to discover so much great music along the way. There are plenty of great bands that may not be household names, but were still great and epitomised the times. Consider Roxy Music (anything from the first three or four albums), or Curved Air (Back Street Love is a gem), with Sonjia Kristina on vocals, who also starred in the seminal 60s musical 'Hair'. Go for it Elok, I'll be following and 'liking' all the way. Cheers from the UK!

Great concert Elok. They don’t make bands like that anymore, do they. I’ve seen Deep Purple in Brisbane Australia 3 times - 2004, 2010 and 2013. They were a lot older but still on top of their game. I haven’t seen Richie, but Steve Morse was on guitar and just as good - and they were very much a happier band with Steve instead of Richie. (There are lots of DVDs with this lineup - check out Perihelion - Deep Purple Live - Miami 2002). The last time I saw Deep Purple (2013) was a double bill with Journey (Don’t Stop Believin’). Journey opened with a really good set, but when Deep Purple hit the stage you knew the big guns had arrived. They blew them away, and made Journey look like a high school band. I have an unusual suggestion. You have done a great job playing the bands that us old guys remember from our younger days. But why don’t you teach us something about your contemporary music - and do a reaction to a K-pop group such as Black Pink - and tell us what you find great about them.

Smoke On The Water the first riff any of us young kids learnt back in the 70's. But those that followed through to learn the lead part for the rest of the song, became guitarists. Hence, I'm not a guitarist. And for those that wanted to follow the keyboard route? Well good luck trying to emmulate John Lord. But a lot tried. Few succeeded. Elok. You do realise that the smile never left your face for the whole show. God bless you. I don't know if you've done any Led Zeppelin yet. But if Classic Rock is your thing you must. Try this one. kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4uD19ySps7Zgto.html
