I’d justify it being the accent but I geninuely think he’s trolling or something. Om App he said probably 10 times but he properly pronounced HomeKit completely right every time. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Do you need a home pod for this to work? My iPad has 14.2 beta and I didn’t get the setup screen when launching the home app

Question on Honepod Mini - My house is using SONOS speakers in relevant rooms and Philips HUE bulps and panels for lightning. HUE uses Honepod SDK while SONOS uses a propriarity mesh. If I started investing in Homepods - would I get any kind of benefits / shared functions etc ? Siri on our iPhones works well in Danish language - but would Homepod do the same ?

Can you initiate intercom from the HomePod to an iPhone that’s not currently in the home?

I have the developer beta for everything and my HomePods are the only thing that won’t update because the update isn’t even recognized as available in the Home app. Not sure why. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Do you have to link each device with each HomePod ? Or just have them be on the same home network

How do you get watch 7.2, when watch OS is only at 7.1, beta 4...?????

Thanks John. I now understand that the HomePod is not an intercom,… why can’t we just talk to each other over the HomePod like a baby monitor? The last thing we need is more notifications.

No, it only works within the HomeKit home. But you can have multiple HomeKit homes and switch between. But you would need a HomePod in each house assigned to that HomeKit home

I want more control... what if I want to send an intercom to a specific homepod? I dont want it to go to all of them all the time.

You can, just say the HomePod you want to use

Mine is working on and off. HomePod does not always get what intercom means and start talking funny stuff and playback on ipad and iphones are silent. But love the feature.

Are you able to turn off the “hey Siri” feature but still use the intercom?

For me it work only over Siri, pushing the intercom button says “Intercom to Home could not be delivered “ and I tried using Over LTE and not working too

Only works ion iOS 14.2 from iPhone and iPad. iOS 14.0 and 14.1 only work from homepod to homepod directly.

This intercom system & HomePod mini is getting me interested in the whole HomeKit ecosystem - can’t wait to experiment & no doubt will be going through your uploads to see all the possibilities! So excited!!

How can i get the ios 14.2 on my homepod to try the intercom?

Great video and fun feature! Suggest that you mention what isn’t working so that people don’t believe that this is fully functional in the beta yet. It’s not really a bug that you’re hesitant to mention, it just isn’t available yet. So far, on iphone/iPad, intercom only works via Siri voice commands and not from the home app. And your intercom messages won’t play on your iPhone/iPad - you just get a notification of an intercom message but can’t hear it.

Like I said at the beginning at the video this is beta and I was not talking about bugs. But iPhone and iPad intercom as been working for me on and off

@@HomeKitAuthority thank you, I’m saying that calling the lack of a working feature a bug is a bit generous. I have 14.2 beta 3 on all devices, set up per your video and it’s obvious that iPad/iPhone connectivity from HomeKit doesn’t work yet and no playback is available to me on iPhone/iPad. Your video will be great long term for sure which I get is why you did it this way. It’s just not transparent for people installing now. I would have wasted a lot less time setting this up if I understood the current limitations - I’m being clear here to help the next person trying to set it up this week.

Yes. You can intercom to the HomePod mini from your iPad or iPhone. They just have to be connected to the same WiFi network.

Really good channel. I know you’re from the north of England like me, but you need to change the way you say ‘Home’. It’ll be good for the growth of your channel.

I am from the UK also, followed him for sometime. His accent has nothing todo with how he pronounces “Home” it’s his speech. But I don’t it will have any impact on growth, he’s only been going 10 months and already at 11k subs

macOS and iOS are virtually the same. People don’t realize this.

I hear “Ommapp,” and was wondering WTF about ten replays to finally determine what he said. He seems indifferent to speaking English, so I’ll just unsub, and find another authority on home kit who does speak English.
