Deep Conditioner vs Conditioner Do You Need Both? | Natural Hair | Melissa Denise

Ойын-сауық

I was recently asked the question if we needed to use both deep conditioner and regular conditioner in our natural hair routine. Can we not pick one or the other - why or why not is using both deep conditioner and regular conditioner important in our natural hair routine. Let me know if you have ever asked yourself this question. ENJOY! Stay inspired!! xox MD

I only use deep conditioners. It’s better than a regular conditioner. It’s cost effective and minimizes the products in my bathroom.

I deep condition first while the cuticle is open. I then use conditioner as my leave-in to close the cuticle.

Wow I didn't know folks do both. I don't--I do one or the other. My logic was because conditioner closes the cuticles, then you apply a DC to closed cuticles? So I do one or the other each wash day. Will consider both tho...

I mean it does but if you add heat to your deep conditioners wouldn’t it open it back up. And also if you keep open and closing cuticles wouldn’t it damage it too. ughh Idek just writing out loud. Hair is complicated.

I precondition because I don’t like going immediately in with shampoo. It helps soften my hair, I can finger detangle and release shedding. Then I shampoo as normal. Then Apply a co wash (not essential but since I have it I use it 😆). Basically works as regular conditioning step would but I’m getting that extra cleansing effect. Then I deep condition! 😄

I SOMETIMES feel like I “need” a rinse out and a deep conditioner in one sitting. Usually if the rinse out doesn’t do everything I needed it to do, or if my hair is being refreshed from a lil negligence. The more I stay on top of my regimen/routine, the fewer spontaneous interventions I have to make. It’s like… I know what I’m supposed to do. As long as I do that, I’m fine. If I start doing other stuff, THEN I have to start troubleshooting. I buy both, so I’m not stingy with myself. After so many years, I can honestly say, I have a routine that doesn’t need a lot of interventions, treatments, or trims. So I only have to assess for that if I’ve done some of my no-no’s (going longer than 2 weeks for a shampoo, sleeping without a bonnet or scarf 2 nights in a row, keeping a style more than 2 days over its limit, ignoring split ends, mats, or tangles for more than a day, etc etc). A little prevention is worth a lot of maintenance, for me.❤️

I only do one or the other. I use a clarifying shampoo and follow up with a moisturizing shampoo. Then 1 conditioner. There's a such thing as over conditioning and our hair is going to soak up what it will soak up. Adding 2,3,4,5,10 conditioners is overkill.

The rinse out conditioner is a marketing tool. It actually causes the rest of our products repel & not get into our hair. If you read the instructions on the deep conditioner it doesn’t say use the rinse out first.

I was watching a cosmetologist here. She said if you're going to do a deep conditioning treatment, this is what you should do: shampoo, shampoo, deep condition then condition. I've been doing my hair like that since I watched her video a few years ago: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q3-drNqQYa_Iprw.html

Because i have scalp issues i use harsh medicated shampoos which are really drying to my hair strands So I use regular conditioner (with added oils) before shampooing so that my hair isn’t to stripped during the shampoo session. After i shampoo is when i deep condition, detangle and steam my hair.. works wonders for my hair

I do either a conditioner or a deep conditioner. I notice in a Brazil they deep condition and then condition. I found that weird because in the US, we do conditioner and then dc/mask. But both seal off the cuticle.

Hey MD! 😍💓 I’m glad you actually broke down the differences between the two because I have been skipping the rinse out conditioner and going straight for the deep conditioner, but my hair is always frizzy and now I can understand why! I will take the time to use the regular conditioner in between thanks to this video because your gorgeous healthy long hydrated curly hair speaks volumes that what you are doing is working!!! 😁❤️

I haven't bought a rinse out conditioner. For my hair it is a waste of time and money. I really think it depends on your hair type and density. I prepoo with oil and onion juice, shampoo, and condition with a deep conditioner and ayurvedic herbal mix.

If you leave your "conditioner" on for 30 minutes, whilst you "detangle" - or apply heat to it ... does it turn the "conditioner" into a "deep conditioner"???
