I would also like to add this to your list: stop being afraid to cut your ends. My hair started growing rapidly and looks healthier because I trim it every 8 weeks
I grew up washing my combs and brushes in hot sudsy water every time I get my hair washed.
Speaking of the scalp…STOP suffocating it with holding gels and edge controls…your scalp health is more important than trying to achieve straighter “part lines”, “slick edges”, etc.
The last habit of not comparing my hair is something I’m still working on.

I understand what you are going through. I somehow managed to compare my hair with others the moment I gravitated towards content of creators with the same texture as mine. This has helped tremendously. Instead of comparing I get motivated and somehow assured that even my own hair can reach that level of health and growth. I hope this helps🙏❤

I don't compare my hair anyone's hair because I now know I have 4c high porosity hair. I'm learning that my type of hair is difficult to maintain, breaks easily, falls out, and doesn't grow much, if at all. Knowing that, I have a routine to deal with my hair.
Marshmallow root and slippery elm 🤤 😂😂😂
We Shampoo Our Hair....We Wash Our Clothes....Peace!!!!🕊
Gal 6:4(Not comparing yourself with others a Bible teaching) Ingredient: Vegetable glycerin.
That last one right there. This is major for me. I look at hair styles and wonder why I can't get my hair like this
This is why I like the Felicia Leatherwood style brushes. After I finish styling my hair it immediately goes in the sink with hot water and a little bit add liquid hand soap. They're super easy to keep clean if you watch them right after you finish using them. I don't even use this paddle style brushes anymore because I don't want to deal with the gunk. Edit: I started incorporating the acid wash in my shampoo routine and my hair has literally never been softer or more manageable. This week I'm going to start doing an oil rinse also!

It took me years of self research to find these ingredients (and a few others before I found your channel). Then info given right there in a few videos and I was so amazed. Don’t research anymore just come here now.
I don't really look at ingredients, I just have a few favorite products.
So good. Love all of your videos ❤❤❤
I appreciate your videos and all the information you pass to your audience.
I love a good aloe vera juice, castor oil, and shea butter combo for my hair! Doesn’t weigh my hair down, cause I don’t use a lot of the products at one time and it’s super moisturizing for me 😍
Yesss, being Thankful for everything is so helpful!!
Beautiful Flowers!! Thanks for the hair tips !!
Hey curly girl! I learn great things from your channel though my hair is dead straight white hair, with some "cow licks" thrown in. I have learnt the error of my ways in regard to conditioning as my hair is pretty fried. Thanks for your channel! :)
I love all your videos! Have you ever done a video on jheri curl juice/activators? That stuff used to keep my hair moist!
My 1st favorite is aloe, second is anything with Argan oil😊 Thank you for being so informative ❤

Dimethicone. Gives awesome slip to my hair and my kid’s hair. Bad habit of chopping my hair when it gets to mid back. I’m scared it’s going to break off and chop off more than I should. I say I’m not going to do it and it happens everytime😂
Compare and despair!
This is so insightful! Definitely stopped comparing my hair because it was causing me breakage anyway 😂. My favorite ingredient is hydrolyzed collagen this ingredient makes my hair so soft and bouncy😊
I love mint in conditioner. IDK, something about it just makes the conditioner work perfectly.
Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium is pure joy for my hair. Thanks for sharing knowledge with us!

Not comparing my hair texture, my hair routine and your daily hair care vlog here and caring from my self inside & out has shockingly incredibly helped me reach a bra length. I was just looking to grow a healthy hair but it's exceeded my expectations & growing longer...and retaining hair length well...Thank you wonderful gorgeous lady🤗🥰❤️❤️

Aloe Vera Gel is my hair's favorite! ❤ She loves it and always performs well when AVG comes on board at any stage of wash day, be it as a pre-poo or as a stand alone or mixed styling product.
At least I clean my brushes yay!! I would say since following you: BTMS haha, thanks Tonya. Oh and I have an issue I workout a lot and sweat a lot so 'eed to wash my hair otherwise I get pimples; any advice? ❤️❤️

I am not familiar with particular ingredients but I do look for products that say sulfate-free. I have very curly hair that gets Tangled easy and I try to find products that have a lot of slip otherwise I would never be able to get a comb through my hair.
I really hope you’re able to see this comment! I absolutely love your videos as I’ve never looked at science in a way to enjoy it, I’m currently using the product recommendations you have for low porosity and my hair has made a huge difference! I do have a video suggestion, over the years my hair has lost its curl pattern, it’s actually gotten looser, or it doesn’t curl at all. Could you recommend some tips and products to help with detox? My mom won’t let me big chop so I would like to give my hair another chance 😊

I get excited when I see Aloe, water certain oils. Question? If a person works out at the gym at 6 days a week how often should they wash and condition? When I was working out like that I had to wash and condition at least 3 times a week bc of the sweat and salt build up on my scalp. It was irritating to my scalp.
Tonya you have great hair tips. Water
Just bought rosemary jojoba and pumpkin seed oil

I get excited over number 1. Silk or Biosilk in hair products and another number 1. Aqua. I used to buy products just for panethol in them these also had alcohol in some. I can't afford anything never could hence way I never took much time with it(my naps), I never have been able to style my hair.
Aloe! My hair just loves aloe. I buy anything that has aloe high in the ingredient list. 😂
My favorite hair ingredient, hands down, Argan Oil. Anytime a product has argan oil in it, I know it's going to work wonderful on my hair.
Water and aloe are my two.
Hi curly I’m learning a lot from you and I have a question for you I’m a beginner natural I don’t want length I only want thickness it’s really thick in the back but not so much in the front please tell me what I need to do to achieve it and thank you in advance

Coconut Oil in all form. Be it in Cationic Surfactants, Triglycerides, Fatty Alcohols and other form, *I LOVE IT*
I try to exercise everyday and sweat in my head “a lot”. Is washing once a week still ok. Or should I rinse/wash more often. Thanks.
AMLA 💙
Any content for low density curlies??? We out here too 😔
My favorite ingredient is henna .
You called comparison, “the thief of joy”. It’s useful to Identify the root emotion: envy. Envy is not usually a great look on grown-ups.
I agree in principle with not washing too often, but what if you swim every day or exercise vigorously every day?
My favorite ingredient for my hair is Dimethicone🤩😁

I wear my hair out. I try to seal my ends with a leave in. I do twist outs
Do you have any videos detailing how to restore your curls after experiencing heat damage? I did a silk press, and there's loose strains in random parts of my hair, and I am not ready to do a big chop to it just yet. Any advice?

After having two major setbacks (dépression, then anemia), it breaks my heart to look at other people's hair and imagine what mine could have been. Then I snap out of it, because there are bigger issues than my hair 😂... Other than that, I reconciled with silicones and grease. My hair thanks me.
I clean & my hair tools with ShipShape. 💖 Take my tools, dissolve some shipshape in a sink of hot water, & let them soak for 20 min 💖 Brushes & combs SPARKLING 💖

Can I add aloe vera juice to my shampoo and conditioner ❤
I try washing my hair every two weeks and didn’t work, then try washing it three times in a week and it was too much. I realice that once a week is perfect.
Is there actually a such thing of “quick hair growth” outside of the normal 1/5 inch a month?
My hair loves Aloe Vera. It hates Coconut. I can't compare my hair to anyone else's. It's special, yellow school bus special.
Hi Tonya! Is it possible to make my hair less glycerin sensitive? There's sooo many products I can't try bc I'm high porosity and glycerin poofs up my hair like crazy 😭

Nice new style! Do you do it yourself or have a stylist? Just asking because I think Chemists schedules are loaded
Aloe
Probably Alovera!
Apple cider and honey
Do you consider co-washing “washing” your hair. I only do wash and gos so my hair is constantly out…and they only last 1 maybe 2 days 😩. So I have to wash my hair often (3, sometimes 4 days a week). I’ve tried quite a few gels but nothing will hold my curls; the definition is gone and my hair gets fro-ish. Any suggestions?

Hi, I’ve got a short hair cut and I’ve only done wash and gos for the past 4 years and they now last for 4-5 days. The game changer for me was The Doux’s Mousse Def but I also like Camille Rose Naturals Coconut style setter followed by their Curl Maker gel. I hope this helps!

What about the stylists out now that are telling us that protective styles damage our hair by having our strands rub against the hair we add in? They say this causes are strands to break and get holes all along the strand. Is this true or possible? Thanks so much for your channel too and for providing a scientific perspective and for having a nonjudgmental space.

I can't speak to any research done on the topic, but I never trusted that kanekalon with my hair. It's devoid of any natural oils and feels so hard! And it doesn't have the same elasticity and natural anti-static properties of real hair either... If I wanted to use fake hair in my braids I would use plenty of leave-in conditioner with lots of slip. After all, some people do grow their hair with fake hair so it's possible.
