Deee-Lite is a house and club/dance group known for their 1990 crossover smash "Groove Is In The Heart," dance chart hits “Power Of Love,” “Good Beat,” and their albums ‘World Clique,’ ‘Infinity Within,’ and ‘Dewdrops in the Garden.’
Deee-Lite was formed in 1986 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn by vocalist Lady Miss Kier and multi-instrumentalist Super DJ Dmitry and became popular in the New York club scene as a vibrant and lively dance act known for their unique Holographic Techno Soul, psychedelic light show, and innovative art direction. Jungle DJ Towa Towa officially joined the group in 1989 contributing production on the first album and both songwriting and production on the second. Deee-Lite broke up in 1993 but all three artists continue to deejay to this day.

While they'll never reunite, I _did_ hear something rather shocking a few weeks back that could hint that they're being rediscovered: Their third album, _Dewdrops in the Garden_ has apparently overtaken _World Clique_ sales-wise. If true, that's no small feat: ""Groove is in the Heart" was their one truly massive hit from _World Clique_ and that album was heavily promoted by Elektra Records. In comparison, new (read: younger) fans are heralding _Dewdrops_ as one of the greatest underground rave classics that had no promotion at all outside of the band funding and touring the big raves of the mid-1990's.

Yeah, but autotune’s just a different style, depending on what you’re going for. It’s like someone from a previous generation complaining that this song doesn’t even have real drums. e.g. “Back in my day we had real drummers and they had talent!” I see room for both the natural way and a more programmed style.

So I saw this video on MTV international, ch 47, telemundo, hosted by Daisy Fuentes. Another show was 2nd generation. Hosted by Andy Panda and Tony Moran. 2nd generation was MTV affiliated, on ch 11 in NY. Another show was Video Music Box. First on ch 31 then on ch 25, uhf on broadcast tv. Wow what an era. i think I (and the rest of the world) were so obsessed with "Groove is in the Heart", we (certainly me) forgot just how damn good the rest of "World Clique" is as an album. When "Groove... " finally turns up at track 8, you hardly remember exactly why you put the album on , cos you get totally caught up in all the other great tracks. if discos and night clubs even get to exist in this day and age, i recon you could still play this and fill the dance floor

Wow, it's still so good! I used to listen to this cassette often on my crappy Walkman in 1991. Then after not hearing it for about a decade, I relistened to it on some good speakers in the early 2000's & it was like listening to it all over again. Other than the obvious overplayed "Groove is in the Heart" (& occasionally "What is Love?"), the album didn't get nearly enough exposure that it deserved! This song was always 1 of my favorites on the album. I wasn't old enough at the time, but I bet this was a blast to dance to at clubs!

I never discussed my lyrics with the other two while i was in the band for the entire time, and we had very different philosophies on life then and now …I hope the fans can understand"

Unfortunately, metafive is now forced to quit his job in Japan. Due to a scandal, Warner Bros. Japan LLC has stopped selling their music. Their new work was August 11, 2021, but will not be sold forever. As with Denki Groove, content restrictions have been too nervous lately in Japan.
