    2 жыл бұрын

    I didn't notice a reply to your question, Suzanne. This was my first day to find her channel & the 1st project I am considering doing (maybe with a tweak or two). I am a professional creative/ maker/ product producer (whatev), mostly for weddings and in talks with a company that mass produces 'make up' bags. I started making the bags myself (more like pencil bags & double sided bags just like she just Mod Podged here. I wouldn't use patterned materials but instead decorated them to match them. (Wedding themes, church themes for 'keep busy' bags, fun & glittery for bday & any pre to teen and even plastic or / see through bags (mesh, opaque shower curtain ...lol), for pro games or to take to school. Sorry, that was a loooong intro just to tell you that it appears as though she doesn't iron after the DuraClear. She does 2 coats and lets both air dry. Dura clear is like a varnish and could get crispy if too much heat is pressed like was needed with Mod Podge. I've even used the Dishwasher Safe(ish) Mod when I am using *Bling* (crystals, acrylic painting, costume jewels, etc) and will use cloth, acrylic paint, or napkin all with the Dishwasher Mod. Sometimes the Outdoor if it's a wreath or a standing sign (like the large 'WELCOME' wooden signs everyone has at their front doors now).

  • @JoanMarieDomino

    @JoanMarieDomino

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Suzanne! I would make both sides and do the DuraClear last. Make sure to keep a piece of baking parchment under the bag at all times so the bag will not stick to anything. Also very important to keep the insert in there till completely done. You can do them in any designs or patterns that you desire, there is no right or wrong. When I gift these I keep in mind what the person will like, age, etc. Thank you for watching! Joan 🙂

    Hi Joan-Marie, I made my first bag yesterday but I had an issue. After applying the napkin and letting the coat of mod podge dry,I went to apply second coat and there are spots the napkin was bubbling up and separating from the base. Can you suggest what I did wrong? I did apply 2 coats to prep like your video , used new mod podge. Can I fix it?

  • @JoanMarieDomino

    @JoanMarieDomino

    After placing the napkin on, any spot missing Mod Podge under it will bubble when you put on a top coat. Give every coat at least a day to dry/cure. Apply Mod Podge, using the same brush as I did. You can try ironing again. I also suggest practicing on scrap canvas (drop cloth) if you can. I also recommend you watch the video one more time. Good luck- Joan

  • @JoanMarieDomino

    Hi Gloria! Pre-made stretch canvas is different then this cotton canvas. You can use regular Mod Podge. It’s tricky to do the iron-on method on stretched canvas, you can try putting a rolled up towel underneath. I don’t use the iron-on method in this case. Good luck! 🙂 Joan
